Anyways... I agree that she's most likely the rival. We need some sort of rival. And I think they would show the rival before showing any assistants. And besides, I'm pretty sure that Gumshoes's the assistant pal.
Also, I doubt she's Franny's older sister either. She honestly doesn't look like the type to have a seven year old daughter. Granted, I could be mistaken, but she seems too young.

Maya Fey: Having completed her spirit medium training, she appears as witness in the first case and appears again in case 5 to channel the victim.
Keelee Lockhart: A girl with no connection with previous characters, and links all four cases together through an overly complicated backstory. Most likely an orphan.
Yuffyle Payne: Winston's granddaughter. While Gumshoe acts as the main sidekick in the game, it's Yuffyle who you ask for advice at the beginning of each chapter.
Londrey Scarkoff: A young woman being trained in the martial arts, she is a prodigy defense attourney who uses ninja weapons as her character gimmicks. (Hey, if Franziska got the job at 13...)

Ooh goodness, that would be suicide for them. xD That's like...four pretty prominent pairings right off the bat that I can think of that involve him and have pretty angry fanbases behind them....
I'm pretty sure they'd keep up with the whole ambigious pairings theme they seem to have going, since apart from a select few most pairings in PW are pretty open-ended. If they ever changed that even to a pairing I like, I would be pretty annoyed since it would go against the idea of the game. It's not a romance-themed game, after all.
And I think I agree with the "Key" related name, unless the artists got bored and decided to randomly draw a key in her hair...

I would guess that the girl is a sidekick for Edgeworth, but since Gum appears to be the sidekick, she is most likely, the defense attorney. I wouldn't be suprised if she plays a big role in the game like the Feys did in AA1-3 and Trucy in AA-4

Although I cannot remember if the eldest daughter was stated in the game, the granddaughter was in the first game and since Fransizka never had a kid, it is most likely the elder daughter.

Edgey's game obviously doesn't take place at the same time as GS4. Not unless Edgey and Gumshoe found the fountain of youth or something. Which I highly doubt.

But, she's definately not Maya, and I'm pretty sure she's definately not Misty.
The only thing that slightly resembles Maya is probably the purple scarf and the too-high ponytail. And Misty? Nah, definately not. wayy too young and absolutely no resembles to me.
The way she's looking at Edgeworth ... I dunno.. the look in her eyes. I can't really explain it, but to me, it looks like SHE'S looking at Edgey with some sort of a familiar smile/facial expression thing.
The only thing that I find doesn't 'suit' the Franziska's older sister thing is the fact that it doesn't appear that she has 18th century clothes. But then again, her older sister didn't really turn out to be an insane prosecutor perfectionist person, so maybe her sister was just the 'Black Horse' of the family.
Also, she looks a bit young to be a mother?
I dunno. But the Franziska older sister thing DEFINATELY makes sense.

It has been determined that this game takes place after the end of GS3 (if you haven't read Tuesday's excellent translation of the original article where this is revealed, shame on you! Go read it now!)
Second, JapaneseGIRL has just revealed that the girl is 17 at the time of the game.
This rules out the elder von Karma sister, as well as her daughter (neither of whom do I ever expect to see in the games anyway, especially since the elder sister is only barely canon) due to age requirements.
This also naturally rules out Maya and Misty. I'm quite certain that this is an entirley new character altogether.

Please, not Edgeworth's girlfriend. It makes no sense with the other games. Edgeworth is definitely either to be paired with Phoenix or asexual.
