You and me both. I've driven down there once for E3 a few years ago. That why I'll just take the train since it drops off RIGHT at the convention center. But then I live out in the Valley, so it's a reasonable commute. For folks who don't live remotely close... *shrugs* One option for attending AX would be to stay at a cheap hotel like a Super 8 in Sylmar or something in a better area than downtown, and going my route of taking public transportation. The area immediately around the convention center itself is pretty decent and self-contained.
And hell, $3 for an all day bus/train pass times 4 days (5 if I go down the day before just to pick up my badge early... probably a good idea from what I heard about regline screwups the first day of the con this year)... $12 is a LOT less than I'd spend on gas and parking to drive down. That's another problem. Parking around the convention center is all kinds of bad. As much as $20+ a day for some of the nearest parking lots.

who was there. He was the one with the shaved head.I still have to sort through all my PW pictures so when I get them put together I will post a link in this thread.
We are undecided if we are going to AX next year with all the negatives we've heard about LACC. We've been going to AX since 2003 so it's become a bit of a tradition... but still... who knows. We may check out Fanime next year. We'll see.

Alternatives my group is consider are Fanime, Animagic, and MikomiCon, because AX has just.... really gone to crap.

Actually I have plans for AX 08 to get a group of us together an hour before the gathering and walk the convention chanting "Objection!" and amass more people to take pictures <_<

Anime Expo 08 is gonna be in Los Angeles. I don't know how's that gonna be.
And far as I know, this was the biggest PW gathering at a con.
I was able to make it for the evening photoshoot (but I only ended up staying for the first number of group photos, so I don't think I'll be easy to recall! XB). My costume was Dahlia Hawthorne (or Chinami, as we knew her at the time! :p)
I heard the new location for AX next year is making it pretty difficult for a lot of people to attend, but hope there'll be another PW group put together yo! <3

If anyone was at the Fullmetal Alchemist gathering, I was the only Trisha Elric. Next time I can afford it you can guarantee I'll be at the PW gathering, maybe with an appropriate cosplay. Probably '09 if it's in a better location than LA...too far for my friend Scotty in San Jose and too risky for me on my own. Gyeh.

Theres no way in hell Im wearing the same costume I did this year. It was such a pain and I nearly passed out form heat stroke.

So assuming worst case prices on stuff... Probably about $350 total. .... Which is still a damn sight cheaper than the roughly $600 total spent on my Ember McLain costume from AX2006.
Alas, the rest of my group is looking iffy- my sister still needs to get a job (she doesn't want to mooch her costume money off her fiancee!), and my group's Mia is also looking for work >_< And my group's Godot got laid off, so he probably won't be able to do it either. Even though he's already GOT 90% of the costume in his usual wardrobe already and I bribed him with the promise of endless coffee while in costume. So be it, if I'm the lone PW cosplayer out of the "Full Metal Alcoholics", I'll just have to make sure my costume is PERFECT!
