I think I might need some help here...

I'm thinking of doing a young Mia cosplay. Does anyone know anywhere where I can get a cheap suit? Also where can I get a beige/yellow scarf? I think I know where I can get the shoes, but I'm not sure (need to be cheap). How do I get/make that magatama thing? :youngmia:

A beige scarf wouldn't be too hard to find. Length-wise, you're on your own. XD

How ironic. In Southeast Asia, beige scarves are widely sold.... although I don't like the scarves. If it's not a problem, you may want me to export one to you?

I had the EXACT same problem. I had some difficulty in finding the suit and, surprisingly, the undershirt, but I made the Magatama and Scarf so all I need now is the "Objection!" sign and the shoes, which are proving amazingly difficult to find.

If you can't find something, you should ask a tailor to get it made. It's usually fairly cheap, too!

For some Magatama goodness, try Sculpey. It comes in various colors and is easy to mold. S'what I used for mine.

Thrift store! Always the best first stop!

I found an entire suit there that was PERFECT for Mia for EIGHT BUCKS. I ended up making my scarf out of yellow fabric but I hate how it looks. If you go to an art supply store, they sometimes have white silk scarves especially for dyeing. I'm going to do that next time.

Thanks, I bought the skirt and scarf, and I found this necklace that looks EXACTLY like a magatama. All I need now is the shoes and jacket, which I can't find anywhere.

My friend found some black shoes that were right for like 4 dollars at Goodwill and spray painted them. It's hard to find white shoes like that.

Could anyone give me a specific name for Mia's type of shoes? D:

I can't give you a specific name, but the shoes I use for my cosplay are from Wal-Mart (though, I found mine at the DI).

I had to spray paint my shoes white, though, because they are originally black.

I made my magatama out of sculpey, and then painted it with metallic paint. I sealed it with clear nailpolish.

Your shoes look good! Comfort is always a good thing, 'cause... honestly, my shoes KILL me after about... two hours or even less, so I have to have an extra pair handy to change into for a while.

That magatama looks cool!! I've never seen a real one before. XD

Oh, I'd always wondered how you did yours! I always thought your shoes were great and I couldn't figure out how exactly you sealed your magatama. Thanks for sharing!

These are great choices, too! I tried getting a real magatama for my first version of the costume, but it ended up being waaaaay smaller than I thought. These are beautiful, though. And it's always cool to see how other Mias are finding their cosplay items!

Ugh. Hair problem ;__; I've had a fringe cut that should work for Mia when all my hair is straightened and discreetly clipped back, but it flips on the WRONG SIDE OF HER HEAD. Tried the other side, it clumps up and looks horrible. I was using the mirror to gauge how to instruct the hairdresser. Stupid. Stupid.

Balls. Is there any way around this? I can't seem to find any suitable wigs either. :sob: Please help meeeeeeeee!

While having your hair parted on the correct side of your head is a good thing, if you're unable to do it, I say just leave it. IMO, as long as your hair is long enough and you have the right color and style, you're good to go!

I don't think many people will notice. You know the zigzag part by her bangs? I had that at Anime Oasis this year and my friends were teasing me about people not noticing... but I knew it was there, so I had to have it. XD

It's just one of those details that only you (a few others) would notice. D:

Cool :) I was kind of flustered because I thought that's the thing I would notice, like you said XD But hopefully it won't be that bad.

Hair is fairly long, way past the shoulder and falls down my back so I'm sure of the length. Though about the fringe-
http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/300509/79784_Jacks.jpg

That's the -mirror- image right there. xD; When straightened it'll look like it's hanging over my eyebrows a bit more. Is that okay do you think? The longer hair will need a tiny bit of assistance in the form of discreet hairpins to keep it tidy and behind the ears (I don't trust hairspray. Ever.) but eh? :)

The hair wasn't a prob for me, actually because when I cosplayed Mia, my hair was exactly the right length, but since my hair is black, I got some spray-on hair coloring to dye my hair brown. :will:
