When I consider creating characters for a roleplaying game of any kind, my first consideration is the setting and environment it takes place in. What kind of characters would one expect to live in such a world? The issues they face? How they parallel our own?

Of secondary consideration is my personal mood and flavor - I had phases where I favor certain types of characters over others, but I always try to make the concept refreshing and new or original. I've resorted to old or standard characters I've created beforehand when I feel their original concepts haven't been explored enough or that they could be interestingly transformed when inserted into a new setting.

And, of course, there's always the concern for using the RPG's particular mechanics for one's own purposes. I like to try to create something unorthodox or unusual for settings, or at least something that pushes out of the normal scope while remaining within the bounds of reason. Evil Clerics, hybrid-style Pokemon trainers, psychic princesses... it goes on.

In my mind, the point of any roleplaying endeavor, indeed, any form of fiction, is an alternate reality or escape, getting lost in exploring a fantastic environment and learning about it much like one would romp about their backyard or the woods in their childhood, or indeed any new or unfamiliar environment (getting lost in a shopping mall or Disneyland, anyone?).

But I've gone off-topic with this post, so to make up for it, I'll introduce you to my favorite character to RP as... however, she's gone through many incarnations, so there's hardly any canon information I can provide on her, other than what is shown in this picture I made.

I usually RP as Yuu. I'm not going to post anything related to her [because ED still comes here from time to time] not only that, I am -very- picky in who I rp with, and with the exception of a few good friends, usually don't go for one-lining/plot-less storyline.

But I digress. My favorite type of characters to rp are badass and/or slightly corrupt. Maybe a little tapped in the head too.

I... have more characters than I care to think about.

There's my namesake character, Firefury. She's the character I've RPed the longest, almost 15 years now spanning the various incarnations of her. There are currently 3 versions of the character: The original Megaman X fancharacter (Amy Silver, alias Firefury); a Battle Network variation that's split into two characters (Firefury.EXE and her operator Amy Silver); and a version I use on Nationstates, both an ace combat pilot and revolutionary (Amy Silver, alias Firefury Amahira; formal titles Windleader of the 337th Air Combat Wing/Queen's Wing and "Lady Shogun Eternal Under the Wings of Chaos".)

But I also have a slew of fan and original RP characters. Deirdra Amahira, a broadsword toting shaman with a lot of brute power but energy control best described as lacking (originally a Shaman King fancharacter, but her uses have expanded to include Yu Yu Hakusho, Danny Phantom, and in one memorable case, Phoenix Wright.) Lira, a mercenary/assassin who's in denial of her actual lineage (Legend of Zelda fancharacter, Twilight Princess era.) Sonya Vitalis, a tomboy who's driving goal is to own a motorcycle shop (Danny Phantom fancharacter.) Hizeme, a 300+ year old dragon flying in exile from her kindred due to her interest in communicating with "inferior" species. (Original RP character.)

Not to mention that JUST for my Nationstates stuff, I have created over 120 individual characters. Only a few are regularly played, to be true, but all of them have been used at least once- even if only to die horribly in a storyline.

Then there's my PW fancharacter, Leola Khatt. When coming up with her (subconsciously, no less, her origins are almost entirely the result of a weird dream!), I wanted a character with some good quirks that hadn't been done before. Hence when I first described Leo to a friend, the conversation was... amusing.

"Leola is a prosecutor."
"Okay..."
"And her driving goal in doing so is to defend innocent people from being accused."
"Wait, what?!"

Unlike... well, every canon prosecutor, Leola's obsessed with fairness in getting to the truth. And how can it be fair when the defense is perpetually crippled in evidence-gathering and speaking to the witnesses? So one thing she always does with her cases is she contacts the defense attorney on any case she's assigned, so as to share information. Of course, she's got an ego problem- in her mind, she needs power to accomplish her goal of ensuring the correct verdict, and clearly prosecution is where the power is at. So if she decides to herself that the accused is innocent, she doesn't fight the case very hard. This has led to rumors that she sabotages some of her own cases, and to her paltry 42% conviction rate. Basically, she's a prosecutor of rather unremarkable quality and as a result rarely gets big murder cases- most of her cases are assault, theft, and other less serious crimes. (So the fact that Payne gets murder cases rankles her to no end.)

Among her quirks are a cheerful personality outside of court (she calls everyone by first name alone, though she's all prim and proper in court), paper airplanes in court (though rarely), and a fondness for karaoke (which she has yet to talk Edgeworth into trying!) Contrary to the typical weirdness in prosecutor attire, her court getup is a rather harsh grey ladies suit. Also, she's not into flamboyent spending, and in one roleplay the subject has come up more than once the incongruity of seeing her dirty, beat up old sedan that she got in college in the parking lot next to Edgeworth's bright red sports car.

I generally just role-play as myself, with extreme personality changes, being a religious zealot, suicidal kid, a gurl :S, an extreme case of a typical weeaboo(I am massively wapanese, but I'm far from typical :D), a paedophiliac old-man, a patriotic American, a terrorist, a businessman in his mid 30s with a family... the list goes on and on.

Although, it's not so much role-playing, as it is blatant trolling. Which in honesty, is really the only thing I've done with my life for the past few years.

Danny Loire
Attended Ouran high before his brother, he graduated and went on to become a defence attorney. The reason he became one is because his parents where murdered in front of him but the defendent got a 'not guilty' verdict. He blamed this on the on the defence attorney being corrupt and decided to become one himself(yes it's woerd logic, but it made sense to him at the time). As they attended Ouran the brothers family is obviously rich; thier father was a judge and mother a barrister.
He did not have to bring up his brother as thier parents left them the house enough money to keep the servents etc. He as no idea of his brothers sexual preference...yet.

Sorry that was a bit long, i've had the idea for the Loire brothers for a long time, but i just made alot of that up there xD
