You study for 5 hours for what your teacher says "A BIG FINAL TEST" and when you actually get the test, you finish it in 5 minutes and get a perfect score.

That's EXACTLY what happened to me. It was apparently, A HUUUUUUGGGEEEE sewing test (Shudup, sewing's cool D: I had to take the class anyways...) said by others and by my teacher, and when I actually wrote the test, I was like " :lana: ... Omigosh, this is stupid. EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT YOU DO WITH A HAND WHEEL!"
...There were questions like, "What do you put inside a bobbin case?"
Um, I'm going to guess (JUST A GUESS, I'm totally not sure if I'm right) that you put a bobbin in there.
Turns out 3 guys actually failed =/
Oh the pity.

Hmph. Teachers are liars.

What I hate is when you study 5 hours for the test over the EXACT material the teacher tells you will be on the test, only to have something completely different on the ACTUAL test! I think that irks me more than anything else. If they aren't going to put that material on the test, why do they tell you to study it in the first place? You could probably do better on the actual test by not studying! D:

I think teachers want you to study for 'material that is said to be on the test' and just kind of "TEST" you (no pun intended) on different stuff than the actual things you study on, just for more knowledge. Besides, I've seen those dirty smiles when they issue out homework and test days. :yogi:

What's even worse is when they tell you it's just a little quiz, so you're not worried and don't study that hard, then it MAGICALLY TURNS INTO A TEST and you fail. XP

No one can learn to sew with a gun to their head....

Bet I could teach you. Or my Auntie, you always need a teacher you're comfortable sewing around ((my Auntie, for instance, no awkwardness when I sew with her, we have fun.)) And someone who can correct your mistakes if you can't back out of them.

That being said, Hand Wheel, I think I know that by a different term...?

You'd study for 5 hours for a big sewing test? Hmm. I'll usually only spend an hour studying for a test and still get 95+%. Or in the case of Chemistry, not study, finish early, fall asleep, and get 100%.

Teachers are liars.... reminds me wayyyyy back in the 80s. In my schooling years.

Counsellors (also teaching) are supposed to keep their words and not make stories from their students' problems.

Since the incident, I NEVER TRUST COUNSELLORS for the backstab. Yeah, he/she got popular for having the best gossips in school because of knowing student's turmoils & issues.

But I won't give them swear words. Their time of sufferings would come eventually~ :]

With me, testing goes one of two ways. Either I study for hours on end and fail miserably, or I don't study at all, finish in a few minutes, doodle for the rest of class, and ace it. This year, I'm in Biology (since I'm a sophomore), and I haven't studied AT ALL. I've aced all my tests and have a 100 average. However, I'm also taking World History, and no matter how much I study, I fail all the tests. I just don't get it.

(I agree about not trusting counselors. In eigth grade, I had... Well, let's just call it a "breakdown". I freaked out in the middle of math class and started sobbing. (Miraculously, no one but my teacher noticed. Being invisible has its advantages.) I went to the counselor's office and talked to her. We called my mom, and I didn't go back to school for a few days. When I got back, ALL of my teachers knew about it, more than they should have, since my counselor blabbed. Thankfully, they were all pretty nice about it. I was livid, since I thought that what happened was going to be kept quiet. Just thinking about it gets me angry. :chinami:)

(Sorry for the rant!)

This kind of thing recently happened... that day we had to prepare papers and materials for presentation, and we also had to wear formal clothes. one of the lecturer was sort of scary and annoying, so everyone had prepared their mental. Then the teacher came in around 30 minutes before the class ends, and told us to just hand the materials and leave. LAWL I'm glad to hear that because I forgot to wear formal clothes, but everyone else swore and shouted XDDDD

@Sarah733: well, at least your school has a counselor... the so-called counselor I had when I was in school does nothing but explain us about college informations.

Bingo, that's what I really hate. I often have to study months of material for single exams, and it's brutal, heart-wrenching even when they bring questions that make it seem like I didn't study anything. Be thankful for easy tests.

I believe it sucks even more when you study your ass off for an exam, thinking you've got it and then get a D½ (Or 6½ out of 10 in 4 to 10 scale)

That's exactly how my physics test went. I did get full points out of the essay part, though. I only booched the calculating. (I have math dyslexia ^^")

I wouldn't have anything to contribute to this other than math sucks. I can recall sessions of middle school where I would be home for 8 hours every day doing math homework. To make matters worse the teacher would never actually do her job and teach the class. This is probably why I'm tempted to close all funding this year. Good luck to the teachers that are sacrificing pay raises for more materials.

To this day I blame her for my poor social health. :shy:

Right now the closest thing I have to this topic is studying kanji. Studying the meaning is one thing. Studying the readings for every character is a completely different game. The reason for this isn't for school but personal benefit. There's no excuse for not being able to read.

oh god I totally understand how that feels :larry:

it also sucks when you have to do remedial tests. At my school, everyone who got under (7.5 from 0 to 10 scale) in any test have to take remedial tests... it SUCKS when you got 7.3. I think I've had 3 occasions when I got 7.3... I'd rather have 5 or 6 than 7.3 T_T
