"Well, I wasn't exactly watching him at the time, and I don't think Keri was either, so he could have just pulled the gun out and shot him, then tucked it away and fell into the glasses pretending to be shot. We're still kind of stuck on the whole getting a gun part, though," she frowned.

"For what it is worth, I doubt the killer was relying on that train appearing," Keri pointed out. "But, judging by what Otto said before, such a 'boring' answer might not do anyway. It is strange to have to think this way, but perhaps we can assume the murder happened as though the killer expected the train, in which case they did not need to fake the sound as you said."

"Suicide is unlikely, but... that does actually present a problem. You are right, Urumi and I would have certainly noticed if Raul fired a gun inside the saloon if the train hadn't been there... even if he shot it through himself to try and muffle the shot. Raul cannot have known the train would be there, so... I am not sure what that means for this theory, it seems to contradict it," Keri said, clearly troubled.

Everybody checks V.A.L.'s compartment thing. They find a secret train schedule hidden inside along with a bloodstained revolver.

Just kidding, all they find is a bunch of bullets. Keri counts them and says that none are missing.

"Alright, so, I don't see how anyone could have actually thrown the bullet through the window, and Raul couldn't have known the train would be going through at the time of the duel, so he probably didn't shoot through the window either. That would mean the bullet that made the hole came through from the outside and hit him. If that shot came from Koichi's gun, though, it would have had to bounce off something, probably in the area of the post office."

Urumi sighed. "Did anyone who investigated the post office find anything that looked like it was hit by a bullet, or even anything it could have ricocheted off?"

"Ok, maybe we need to turn our thinking around. The killer needed the train for their plan to work, but didn't know the train was coming. Ipso facto, they weren't actually planning on killing someone until the train arrived." Jack raised his finger in the air to emphasize the conclusion.

"As for a working theory...I don't know. Maybe James and Raul were planning something together where James would 'kill' someone at the end of the duel, but it would actually be Raul who did it...but Raul decided to kill James instead when the train provided the opportunity...or something." He shrugged.
