I kinda hope for a new prosecutor. I mean, so much shit went down with Kyouya in this game--he lost his best friend and lost his brother, uh, twice...kinda--that it's hard to imagine what else they could do with him, or what might break him out of his shell. A meteor lands on his girlfriend? He loses his voice and can't sing any more? Limb cut off in an industrial accident? "Prosecutor Garyuu chooses death"? I can't imagine that he won't have a huge part to play, I'm just not sure what it could be if he's the main prosecutor again this time around.

GS4 Major Case 1 and 4 Spoilers
Yeah I know my version of GS4 case one and four was too messed up but in the end maybe it's a better way for a new defense attorney to carry on Phoenix Wright's legacy and at the same time go deeper into
past maybe he has a vague connection with the Fey family and his mother is Misty Fey or at least related to her. They never did explain what happen to her after the SL-9 case I believe just they said that she just vanished.

honestly I have no ideal on how to proceed with the new characters and still manage to keep it interesting maybe if the writer had more freedom to write the script to how he wants it even if it means killing off a main character like phoenix or edgeworth ( hey I heard a rumor a while back that somewhere in GS4 it was mention that a genius was killed and it kind of reminded me of 
it's probably baseless though.)For some reason I picture
as the one that's most likely to follow in Phoenix Wright's shoes and become a defense attorney.Maybe that's just me though.

also,
with spirit channeling you can kill off main characters, however,
you can still talk to them.
I wonder if Minuki can resurrect people...

Besides, Spirit Channeling was never really well used in the first three games, anyway. Its only real purpose was to keep Mia around, which they could have done by just keeping her alive. But other than their "find Maya" strategy in 2-4, and the summoning mess in 3-5, the Fey channeling powers were completely underutilized. (btw, not talking about Psyche Locks - just the channeling powers themselves).
But the Arumajiki bracelets have a power that can potentially be used all the time. Maybe you'll start being able to Minuku people out in the field. Maybe it'll develop even more powers. It's an oppertunity for new, interesting mechanics, and I hope they capitalize on that instead of Fey power.
As for Odoroki's daddy, after playing through the Mason System again, this is everything I remember:
