whats all that?You do have a point that not everyone has to like the same characters. However, you could have been nicer about it by saying something along the lines of...
"I'm sorry, but while I respect your opinion, I can not agree with it because..." and then be nice and say why...if you do want to say something like 'because he's a pompous ass' you could have termed it like this:
"I'm sorry, but while I respect your opinion, I can not agree with it because while Richard can be made out to be a mis-understood person who isn't proud of who he is or have similar issues. I just feel better going along with how the game portrayed him, and Capcom's interpritation of his character."
No need to get all over-protective of your opinion. It's one thing to state that you like/dislike a person and why, but it's another thing to go after other people for saying that they like/dislike the same person.

Not saying you were being over-protective (I do apologise if it sounded like that) and I know that Oos tends to be over-protective of these kinds of things (I have seen her post) but the only reason SHE is like that is because people bring up arguments and are not polite about why they don't like someone.
I know that many a time politeness will fall short of getting a point across, but I think if EVERYONE made the attempt to be nicer about things like that (i.e. Not bashing someone with foul words) things could be better.
I will admit I do find it fun to debate things, and I know things like that take a strong beleife and can lead to harsher words, and that sometimes you will piss people off with your words, but its something to be taken with a grain of salt.
