A short introduction of my experience with edit-programs. I have used tons of edit-programs (paint.NET, Illustrator, Paintshop PRO etc.) but only since a couple weeks I made the step to Photoshop. Therefore my graphic 'skills' are not that awesome at the moment... but I will improve!
Some people may not know me, since I am basically lurking inside the Phoenix x Maya topic. Thus all my sample signatures/avatars are Phoenix/Maya related.
That's one of the reasons I decided to make a topic, so I will gain some improvements in my graphics by using other stylish things. (characters!) 
Be prepared for ugly graphics beneath the 'Non PW related' spoiler, those graphics are not good at all. That have been my 'exercises' from tutorials, but it might be fun to see them so. =)

Today I tried out some effect tools again, but I have to admit... that I overdid it. It really looked good at the start, but then I went crazy with the C4D's and brushes, resulting in a messy signature. =p
Spoiler: NO PW related/kinda pirate style
Both sides of the signature have to many lighting stuff and thus it looks quite messy. Ohwell, it still doesn't look that bad though.
EDIT; I should've darkened it a bit more at the bottom of the signature.
EDIT2; Gotta' a new Godot signature, whatcha guys of it? (something went wrong with savin', I will do it again, but don't criticize it cause of the quality! =P

Well it's done now, I had problems to start with this signature, but I finally managed something. I hope you like it, I think it looks pretty good, but ohwell... have my doubts about the font I have chosen though. Oh yes, btw.. the picture didn't had any color so I recolored it a bit, I didn't manage to make Nick's hair black, something really strange happened when I tried. =p

I will be doing the draw today, I have been really busy last few days. I will edit this post when it's done, just tell me if it's near something you're looking for. :)
EDIT: Update on progress. It's starting to look good, if everything stays as it is then I might be finished on Wednesday. Might be a little bit later, not much though, because I have some important stuff on school this week. It should be fine, though. :)

Ema, I may have failed your request, but I am not giving up yet! I haven't find a good way to include the tophat in the background yet without making it noisy. This is my first version, it would've been a very empty avatar.. so I decided to put a 'cloud' into it.. with the heart! XD (.. and some text) The size of this avatar is 200x200, simply because I was basically trying to find a way to fit the tophat in. I will try to get the tophat some bigger in the background, so stay tuned! XD

As for the chosen colours, I coloured them both, but it just didn't fit in with the background.. so I dropped a shadow around them, that's why they're darkened up a bit. I will try to make a second version for you now.
EDIT: I saved it twice to check out which savefile the best quality has.
Version2, I will now try to make one with Phoenix and Trucy in colour this might take some longer.. since it'll be hard to make the right background for it.

EDIT: Ema, your draw is done. I can't upload it at the moment, because my Photobucket account is having inlog issues. I will upload it tomorrow for you, and I might as well try to finish your avatar tomorrow. I hope I'll get it done, because I have a really busy week incoming!
EDIT2: I am sick home... caught a cold... I feel terrible at the moment.. I hope it'll be better soon, as I have to do a lot of schoolwork and I really wanna finish Ema's request. It already took me too long. :(

I normally don't do a request before I finished the first in line, but it was easier for me to do it like this at the moment. I got some problems with my draw for Ema, some lines are not bind together, which caused that I can't delete the background without erasing parts of the draw itself. That's why I edited the draw once more, but I have to scan it again first. Thus, now I have the rest of today and tomorrow after Blizzard, to finish Ema's one. I will put my homework on second place for now, it's not important/difficult anyway. :)
On the topic of the signature, this is the first time ever I tried to reflect the text, so don't be too harsh on me for it. :P
