The Observer saw Walt's fallen form wordlessly.
With a short flicker in the air, a new, smaller vortex split open, almost a foot away from Walt's shoulder. From it, that same transparent, semi-skeletal arm that had caught him moments before emerged. Through this new window, the Observer reached over to the fallen man, and gently touched him. With quick motions, that hand jumped around Walt's upper body, touching and prodding specific places-- examining him.
Just as wordlessly, the Observer seemed contented with itself, and its arm twisted back and returned into the portal and the darkness that lay beyond. In just as fluid a motion, the opposite arm emerged through the vortex. This one stretched past the fallen Walt's chest, now reaching for his head...

His strike quick and effective, Adam immediately jerked back, and pulled Nadine along with him, away from Hubris.
It would have been easier, he knew, to have used this window of opportunity to strike one of them down down. And yet, when both Nadine and Hubris had been easy targets, Adam did not claim their life...
Instead, he had lunged at Nadine, and grabbed her around her midriff, essentially pinning her arms and trapping her against his body. His rapier reached past his left arm as he wrapped his right tighter across Nadine, struggling to keep her away from Hubris.

No! I can't let that happen! I have to get back up! Through the portal...To that desert. Walt clenched his fists, but he couldn't move otherwise as the Observer started examining him. What's the point? I couldn't make it through the first time... It was at that moment he became aware of something touching him. Open your eyes. See what's happening. Walt groaned as his eyes opened, but all he saw was a transparent arm reaching for his head. His eyes widened and he tried to get away from the arm, but he couldn't move. All he did was twitch.
"Nadine..." he managed to choke out. I can't help either of them... He mouthed, "Hubris..." then felt his eyes get heavy again.
"Why can't you do anything useful?"
"D-Dad?! Dad, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to..."
"You couldn't save her, even though she was right in front of you!"
"...I did my best..."
"Well, it wasn't good enough, was it? Get out of here."
"G-get out?"
"I never want to see you again."
"But..."
"NOW!" Walt grimaced as the words repeated in his head. Why can't you do anything useful?

At the last second Mark crossed his arms and blocked Saile's sword.
He jerked open his arms, forcing Saile to jump back.
Graa!!!
Mark punched at Saile, the knives at the ends of his gauntlets pierce Saile's cloak as he slides out of the way.
Saile slashes horizontally at Mark, who catches Saile's sword.
Heh..
Truth in Darkness!
Sailes sword goes through the gloves and completely through Mark.
At that Mark jumps back, checking his body for injuries.

Echo Phantasm!
Chains broke out of the ground and fell from the sky, they wrapped around Mark's arms and legs.
He pulled at the chains, but couldn't move.
Bastard! What the hell are you a BDSM freak or something?
Aahahahahahahahah! all of Saile's aggressiveness left him, he couldn't stop laughing.

Returning to his on-guard stance, Adam briefly paused, eyes shifting around. Ruins from that illusionary castle-- Had it been an just a mirage? --littered the empty field, giving it a war-torn look. To the north, the crystal spire gleamed slightly, the portal beneath it invisible from this distance. Eve was no doubt still behind Adam, this he didn't need to turn around to look for, and Nadine, right in front of him...
'Above her... what is...?' Adam thought. A small, tiny red gleam in the sky, like a star. It was slowly but surely moving across the open expanse above, beyond Nadine and the fallen Hubris. And it was getting closer.
Adam returned focus solemnly back to Nadine. Without a word, he waited for her to make the next move, rapier held out pointed before him.

The Observer tightly grabbed a small tuft of hair near the back of Walt's head. With a very rough, yet deliberate motion, the portal-borne arm yanked some hair from Walt's head, pulling with it a bit of skin and blood. With the bit of hair clutched in hand, the arm started to slide back into the small portal, while the red eyes continued to stare down watchfully at Walt from the larger of the pair.

"You think that's enough? Too obvious." He said, still moving. He sent his own right leg sweeping out around her left, all the while still moving forward at her. The end result was them both tumbling, Adam forcing down Nadine.
((I feel I made a slight god-modding infringement, but it would be repetitive to force you to write a post all about being tripped. Still, they haven't hit the ground until you say so.))

A whoosh of air left Nadine's lungs as their combined weight crushed her into the ground. Gasping in an attempt to get some air, she struggled under Adam's mass, her wings trapped beneath her body. I'm only immobile for as long as he can stand NOT to kill Hubris. Her hands were also trapped, so she couldn't point, although she did still have her dagger in one hand. It was only by luck that she hadn't impaled herself on it. Gritting her teeth at the helpless situation, Nadine jerked her knee upwards, hoping it would hit something.

Walt took in a sharp breath as the Observer pulled some of his hair from his head, jolting him out of the vision he was having and forcing him to think. He realized he had two visions now, and that he hadn't had a vision since he broke out of prison. What was going on that was so special that he was actually seeing things? He pushed that question out of his mind and concentrated. Had to change the future...But how? He couldn't move very much, let alone warp. Walt clenched his fists again, frustrated with himself and his weakness.

"Give up, and just fall asleep." Adam muttered. Beyond both of them, Eve remained mostly stationary, her hands and fingers twitching in slight, sporadic bursts.
In the sky, the tiny red fleck continued it's approach...

The 'Observer' retracted it's arm-- with the payload, strands of Walt's hair --and the miniature portal disappeared. Noticing Walt's sudden movements, the darkness-enshrouded set of eyes shifted.
"Amazing. You are still alive, and conscious." It said. "You are an interesting specimen... Minuscule genetic damage, and from my analysis, no worse physically than before your attempt to pierce the I.M.T. rejection-barriers."
The sands beneath Walt burst outward, that same harbinger for Adam and Eve's disappearance; a ring of spouting earth forming at the far edges of a circle. "However, you are no longer required. To prevent further hindrance, and to keep the Genetic Donor from interfering from possible experiments, I must bid you farewell. Worry not, as I shall show you mercy in method of extermination."
Disposal of unneeded genetic components, initiated.
The ground beneath Walt fell away into the newly formed portal below him, as gusts of intensely frigid air burst forth through the sliding sands. Below, a light-less, icy desert of snow awaited it's new recipient.

Then, the guy said something about Walt no longer being required. About bidding Walt farewell. And something about mercy in the method of his extermination? So I'm going to die here... The frigid air chilled him to the bone as he fell. He couldn't see where he was going, but he already felt like falling asleep. And maybe never waking back up.
"Walt!" Nadine...She would only do that if she was in trouble.
Then you can't die here.
You must go to her.
But I can't even move, much less...
But you've got to try. Walt, with an effort, opened his eyes once again and forced himself to start warping once more. He didn't feel himself being pulled apart like he knew he should have. Instead, he felt pressure all around him and was surrounded by darkness...

Suddenly, the icy desert felt empty. The illusion was gone, and Walt felt alone. She's right. I can't stay here. Maybe if I walk far enough, I can get out of here.
It won't be that easy... Walt grit his teeth and stood up.
But I have to try. He took a step forward. If there was only a way I could restore my energy. Then I could get out of here. Walt nodded to himself and started walking.

She had suddenly disappeared from underneath him, and he fell through the empty air the short distance to the ground, his knees and arms shouting in sudden shock from the abrupt touch of earth. He darted his eyes back and forth until finding her, his heart racing. Wordlessly, he got to his feet and once more resumed his attack posture: despite his lame arm, he kept his legs apart in a ready stance, and held his rapier before him, pointed up and out.
"...come on then." Adam spoke, facing both Nadine, and the fiery devastation that beyond, far in the sky. The red fleck was now closer, starting to grow as it approached.

The callous winds cast an endless chill across the land, as the tiniest glimpses of sunlight disappeared from the sky, shrouding the snow-covered land in darkness. Slowly but surely, the winds began to pickup in strength, the chill of the wind solidifying into snow caught in the breeze. A blizzard quickly picked up, and the temperature continued to drop.
The land would have been in absolute darkness, except for an occasional breach in the clouds covering the sky, letting in a glow from above, vivid greens and blues, disappearing behind cloud-cover as quickly as they came...
Walt was not alone in this icy wasteland. A large and powerful presence stalked him, it's heavy breathing and footfalls concealed behind the steadily howling winds, while the blankets of blinding white snow camouflaged it's massive form. Keeping a fair distance from the stranger in its frozen homeland, this being followed, waiting for the moment to ponce.

"This would be much easier if I wasn't exhausted," he mumbled with a sigh. The temperature dropped and Walt looked to the sky. Everything else around him was dark, except that. If only he could see the world above for himself. He could swear he was not alone. But whenever he looked back, nothing was there. Nothing he could see, anyway. It didn't say much, seeing as how he didn't look back for long. He instead decided to check often, but not long as he was pretty sure if he stopped, he would freeze to death.

And the beast would have kept its distance, except for a sudden urge that grew in the back of its head. A dominating command, overriding instinct with a sudden and violent upheaval.
Prey. Kill. Eat. Food. Prey.
With a shake of its head, the trotting behemoth picked it's pace up, bounding towards Walt. As it charged, the Polar Bear let out a loud snarl and closed the gap.

Walt heard a snarl and immediately turned around to see a polar bear bounding toward him. So, being mauled to death by a polar bear was supposed to be mercy? Walt smiled wistfully as he did the one thing he could think of to do: get out of the way. But he had to be strategic about dodging. He couldn't roll in that snow. But if he tried jumping to either side, he would still not be safe. Then, he realized something. He wanted something to draw energy out of, and there it was. He took a deep breath and started drawing as much as he could as fast as he could. He wouldn't be able to move as he did, so he just hoped he could draw enough from the bear that it would slow.

Walt held up his hand and broke one of the polar bear's hind legs. Then, he stepped back far enough that he was out of the bear's reach, putting up an ice wall between him and the bear just in case. If it gets past the wall, I'll have to break the other one. Poor thing. Walt drew in a deep breath and started drawing energy again. But if I can just draw enough energy until it falls asleep, I can heal it. Something tells me this bear wasn't originally planning to kill me.

Hubris stirred a little. Laying on his back from where he had been placed, he opened his eyes slowly, and gazed up into the sky.
"...two suns...?" He muttered.
From behind Adam, Eve suddenly jumped to her feet. Silently, she grabbed at her helmeted head, clutching for her face in pain and slowly walking forward toward Adam.

The bear roared in pain, and tripped, crashing into the wall Walt formed. It yelped several times, struggling to get up and run away. With a bit of effort, the polar bear got back onto it's feet and tried to limp away.
'Prey. Pr--... Threat. Child-stealer. Threatened offspring. Kill. Protect offspring. Kill.'
A the bear underwent a sudden change in it's demeanor, as command and instinct took over. It let loose a loud roar, and despite the broken leg, started to head around the wall, a murderous look in its eyes.
