((I'm going to assume Maria's, though I'm honestly confused about the timeframe right now...)).

In the back area of Harts's Books, a young woman paced around the room. Occasionally she picked a book up and slipped it into the right pile but for the most part her attention was on the phone she held.

"I know, right?" Maria said into the phone, alternating between chewing a triple-patty burger and talking. "Did I try a what? Of course I threw a bitch fit! I mean, sure, I know it's a big series but that is why it's important to get it in on the release date. If I don't have it the first rush will run to the big chain bookstore and where does that leave me? Receiving the copies people sell after they've finished reading theirs, no doubt with stains and creases and dog ears and-you need to go? But I need someone to complain to...all right. Talk to you later, sis."

Maria slipped the cell back into her pocket. She stared around, amazed at the many still disorganized piles of books. Geez, I didn't get any work done...Maybe I'll get an assistant or something.

"'Cuse me, is anyone here?"

Maria snapped her head back towards the creaked open door of the storage room. "Just a sec!"

She pushed a few piles back into place, brushed the crumbs off her hands, and kicked a bag containing a dark red material under the desk. Maria put on an amiable smile and came back around into the main shop area. "Hi, sorry 'bout that. Is there anything you need help with today?"

(I suggest we introduce a plot element where, as a consequence of an epic Super battle from before, that the villains won for once, the city has been plunged into eternal night though the city has adapted to get used to this. That way people can sleep whenever, go superheroing whenever and all sorts of things.)

Jonah yawned getting out of bed awoken by the sound of the letter flap swaying as the letter gently touched the ground "Hmm? Time to pay the bills I guess" he sighed changing out of his mischief outfit as he fondly called it and into his plain clothes before stooping to pick up the letter "Hmm another job....for a rare book oh man this is low" he sighed moving to the shower and turning it on "This book better be something else, if it was so rare it'd be held in a museum or vault or something but robbing a bookstore?" he groaned discarding the letter in the fire as he walked through to his room "Well....I suppose it means I can do some good recon on it if it's not a big lock an key affair" he said glancing at his dusty bookshelf "Welp a new book can't hurt maybe I'll find something nice while I'm out" he said going for a shower before redressing in plain clothes and heading down the street towards the address on the letter which he'd scribbled down "Hart's books well maybe they'll be hartless after I've taken what I want" he chuckled quietly to himself before feeling deep shame at his bad joke.

Upon hearing someone talking to himself, he immediately went behind the store, put on his belt and slid a device into it. Sliding the dock that had the device into its other half to make a click, he yelled: HENSHIN! then the armor he wore as a Rider would be his appearance, and his voice would change somewhat, a little deeper and a lot more demonic. Taking the device, he began to program the necessary move list, and once he finished, he took to the rooftops. He took note of the thief, but also the signs of the aftereffects of the villians' victory... some freakish monsters who have been terrorizing randomly have appeared and a big one caught his atttention. Making way toward it, he managed to get there in time to block an attack aimed at a civilian, whom he told to get the hell out. Of course, the panicked kid did and ran as fast as his tiny little legs could take him. Once the Rider pushed the monster away enough, he began his introduction. While doing things like this.
"I am the sole blade of judgment! Kamen Rider! Izanagi!" Once he was done, he grabbed the monster and threw it at a nearby tree. Grabbing a rather small device with the dimensions of a pass port, he scanned it with his belt. The belt then spoke: FULL ARCANA RIDE. JUDGMENT BANE.
Grabbing the handle of the sword he wielded, the seals flew off, revealing a jet black blade that came down with a red afterburn, creating a wave of energy that crushed the monster he was fighting and causing it to explode somehow. He didn't get why everything he killed EXPLODED.. but doing his job was top priority. Once the explosion set off, he undid the henshin and went back to normal and took some cover.

Jonah paused removing his earphones hearing a loud noise and glancing behind him seeing an unusual figure in armour "F**kin cosplayers" he grumbled "Keep it to the conventions pal!" he said before shrugging and continuing down the street to the bookstore Maybe I should buy something to read while I'm here...that guy reminds me of the old beetleborg series...maybe there's a comic of that? he thought hopefully.

(Note: I think it's ridiculous you can figure out his entire plan from that one line, that was spoken under his breath to himself which should be unheard unless you are next to him or have super hearing. Additionally the whole 'prior victory' of villany is only something I'm suggesting not saying it should be adapted straight away or the effects of it beyond eternal night.)

"Oh my god!" with an exasperated sigh Rose relised her watch was wrong. "Ah well, nothing left to do but wait." Rose sat down on the steps and started looking through the jobs section in a newspaper from a nearby bin
"Oooh! Tengo Hombre is looking for waitresses! And they pay really well!" she said.
Once she had well and truly scanned it she trew it back in the trash. "I'm so tired." Rose thought and fell asleep on the stairs.

"'New books'? That's a pretty vague term," Maria said. "I have a few titles I haven't had the chance to put out yet but, if you check out this cart over here, there's a bunch of new ones I haven't had the chance to file yet. Feel free to glance 'em over. Guys I would recommend....uh, that's a toughie, I love too many. Oh! But Laurell K. Hamiltion just put out another book but that's something I just wouldn't recommend for the sake of brain cells. If you like hot, angsty, kickass brothers embroiled in the supernatural world take a peek at Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros books. And, it's not a new series but there's the Dresden Files about a professional PI wizard named Harry Dresden. I'd like to say we have in the next George Martin book buuut we've been waiting years on that one. Wouldn't recommend getting addicted to that series only to hit a brick wall of hiatus...."

Maria stopped herself. She smiled sheepishly, "Sorry, am I rambling too much? I'm told I do that sometimes."

((And as a sidenote, I really would recommend Jim Butcher's Dresden Files)

Itami then felt a vibration. His phone rang. Picking it up and answering, he heard his sister tell him that someone with an odd aura signature was outside the comic shop. Once he answered, he hung up and headed straight for the store. After his arrival, he proceeded to grab a novel. Feeling himself relax while reading, he put his feet on the table and began to read.

Jonah smiled as he entered the shop nodding to the girl and the shopkeep discussing book issues instore before going over to a quieter bit at the back of the store before panicking It's her, it's the wing girl! God she doesn't even make an attempt to disguise her alter ego, only difference is she has wings he thought while he pretended to look at books glad he had disguised himself last night so she wouldn't recognise him.

The voice resounded through the empty, dark room, lit only by a small, flickering bulb on the ceiling. A flash, and a man with a cigarette came out from the dark. Taking a drag, the man blew the smoke out.

"Hello!" his voice rang out pleasantly.

"W-Who are you?!"

The man chuckled. "Who am I? Why, I'm nobody. Unless, of course, you tell me who you are." "...J-Joh-" "John Whitaker, age 34, occupation: museum curator. You have 2 kids, a wife, and an apartment at 3345 Craigson street. Anything I missed? Oh yeah, social security number 24-"

"Stop! H-How do you know all this?" The man started laughing maniacly. "That's easy, but first, I have a few questions."

"No! I'll never tell you anything! Let me out of here!" John yelled.

The man sighed, brushing some dust off his hat. "That's too bad, Johnny. I hoped you could help me. Pity. Well, no sweat, John, really. I'll get your friends, they might know something. If not, it should be funny to see their families all upset. Speaking of which, I killed your wife. Sorry, she called me crazy. I don't like that."

"WHAT?!" John started to cry. "You ARE crazy! HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

The man grinned. "Oh, what did you say? Someone kill me? Got it." A gun appeared.

James strolled down the street to the nearby bookstore, to get some interesting reading. Between heists, murders, political corruption/assassinations and comedy shows, James really loved to read a good book. Then bludgeon someone over the head with it.

Opening the door, he made a beeline the bookshelves, going through the history section and taking his time about it.

To Maria's relief, the customer just smiled. "It's fine. And do you have the Sellsword series? I've been trying to find the whole series. Maybe, I'll check out the ones you suggested?"

"Sellsword...nope, sorry," Maria apologized. "Hope you find something though. If you need help looking for something, just come ask though."

As the customer went off to explore another shelf, Maria's door jingled again. A man who looked more like he belonged on stage with a rabbit (save the wicked scar) walked in, making his way straight to the history section. Maria noticed the second potential customer who had walked in when she was talking to the first still browsing the shelf.

Well, doesn't look like I'm needed, she thought, anxiously rubbing her neck. She felt a bit left out but she couldn't help but smile. Business was looking good and people were reading. That was a nice combination indeed, just so long as they actually bought something.

To make herself look busy she walked around the counter. She pulled out the box she had just received for the month's shipment (which did not have that new book she needed) and flipped a pile the books that needed to go to the back room. While she chiefly stocked commercial items she did occasionally get in special orders. Mostly, these were the out of print stuff or the special editions, but she also got ahold of a few really rare ones every once and a while, such as the one she was holding at that moment: 'Origins'.

Origins had been self published in severely limited amounts because the author, Mike Windsor, hadn't been able to get it put out by a respectable publisher. If he had tried publishing it as fiction he might have succeeded but he claimed it was evolutionary truth. There were humans out in the world that were straight out of comic books, he had said. People who could fly, people who could read minds, people with super speed, the possibilities were too much to list. He'd come up and collected theories from all around the world about where the powers could have began or how they could be gained and listed examples of historical figures who just might have had those powers. However, at the time of publication and into death his work just got panned into nonexistence.

Still, it could be worth a glance through, Maria thought. She'd gotten it in a bin deal at a garage sale so it wasn't as if she'd paid much for it. And who could tell? There was bound to be someone into this stuff, or at least someone willing to pay for being a collector.

Maria slipped 'Origins' the middle of the stack when the first customer staggered to her counter with an armful of books. "I want to buy all of these."

Maria whistled in a appraisal. "Nice."

"Here's the card." The customer grinned. "Hope you don't mind if I took out a whole shelf of books."

"Of course not," Maria said, taking the card with a smile. "Customers who buy plenty are my favorite types of people. And-er, shoot..."

She frowned at the card reader. She swiped it through a second and a third time only to have it fail. "Damn. I'm sorry, could you give me a minute or two? I have a spare in the back room. Just don't go running off with all those."

As she went, she took the precariously balanced pile of backroom specials.

Luneth waited for the woman to return from the back. Then she noticed the book lying on the counter. It was titled Origins. "Hmm, looks interesting..." She picked it up and paged through it. It was on the subject of people that had special powers. Luneth grinned. The author didn't know how true was that. Then she heard someone coming back in from the back and quickly put the book back onto the counter.

Mac had been lost for a few hours now...It didn't help that he only knew directions by landmarks but the whole city was covered i what seemed to be eternal night. But Mac's Luck seemed to finally go back to normal...For some reason the Trashcan's around here had odd markings...Seemed kinda Holy... Mac turned down a few alley ways and finally found the Comic Store he was searching for...

"Finally...Huh...Hello? Anyone here? I'm not to early or something right?"

Jonah frowned noting another person enter the shop, the scar seemed somewhat familiar to him and it made him uneasy. Returning his attention to the books he plucked out a pleasant looking book titled "The Subtle Knife" before moving over to the counter behind Wing Girl waiting for the shopkeep to return.

(XD I could but he's not crazy, it's not like my 'other' villain will take up a major slot or anything, he's just going to be used for my guy's plot really and maybe make a brief appearance at which he can be killed in the end)

"Hmm," James muttered, looking through the books. None of them seemed entirely interesting at the moment.

"Leave that to me," James assured him. "But, we're gonna need more than goons to break into a military base."

"Well, you'd better round up some supers, then. I'm sure we've got a few willing to work for the bad guys." "Who says we're the bad guys?" James said with a grin.

The man on the line laughed. "I'll give you a call, James."

James looked down the street and lit a cigarette. "Well," he sighed, "looks like I'm in the market for some supervillians." He took a drag on his cigarette. "Let's get the word out."

((Quick question. Since we're using the Eternal Night Idea, how long ago did that happen in story? Ten, five, a year, etc?))

Maria tossed the books over to the side and began rooting through the chintzy desk in the corner. Hanging above the desk was a calendar with messy markings with pairs of different initials over specific dates. Most from the previous initialed days that month had been scratched out to the point of illegibility in ragged red pen. The ones that were not scratched over had mini-notes like 'on vacation' or 'in the UG' (Underground) or 'NMI' (needs more investigation). The initials for the next two days were marked in noticeably agitated writing: 'HR'.

After about five minutes of searching, Maria found the scanner buried underneath a file. She took the card and swiped it through, this time getting a satisfying beep. Maria returned to front and handed the card back to the customer, "Yep, it worked. Sorry about the wait. Anything else you needed?"

Leaving the books back at her apartment, she walked to the comic store. Opening the door, she grinned at the numerous magazines and manga scattered all over the place.

Maria laughed nervously while she typed in the code for his book. In the colder, remote part of her mind she wandered where exactly he'd heard that.

"I'm sorry, that book was a special order," she explained. "I can't just give away someone's order, I'd lose all credibility. If you want I can try and order in another copy but I should warn you, it's very much on the expensive side. I'm sure your parents wouldn't want you spending that much anyway."

Mac had already been wandering about the store when he heard the door open. Mac had hoped it was the owner or an employee, but it was Luneth! Good, but not what he wanted. Mac decided to look at the Arcade machines that were in the store...It seemed all the High scores cept for a few belonged to one person....
