Sure, the demo is fine but if it encompasses only a few parts of the game what's the point? I'm skeptical the entire game will turn out as complex and arranged as the trailer but it's more assuring than a prerendered cinematic. Also, why take Da Vinci's Flying Machine if it's possible to just climb the walls of the fortress?

Skepticism aside, here's what I liked about the gameplay:

-More variety of enemies
-Bigger variety of killing methods (the double-stab will be SO helpful)

This game looks massively better than the first one and that is saying something, also I saw a trailer for it that shows that the hidden blade has a gun function

*Necro*

Just purchased the game recently. I'm about eeeh.... 3/8 of the way through and it is easily the best game I've played in a long time, and arguably ever. I really like the whole host of new features. I've logged about 20 hours and have only gotten halfway through. The whole host of characters, gameplay improvements, and locations are fantastic. And not just because I love Renaissance Italy. Probably the only thing I didn't like was the overreactiveness of guards and some issues trying to assassinate from more precarious position. But at best that issue is miniscule.

Anyone else get this game?

I love this game x]
Just got to Venice by this point, since I got it about...2 weeks ago. There isn't that really odd and complex way to controlling Ezio like it was with Altair, so it's easier to run across buildings and climb stuff, etc.
The fighting's alot easier too, by my standards. I died all the time becuase of my crappyness in AC:1 but it's been simplified in this one.
Yays! :D

This game is my favourite yet. I bought AC1 just beforehand and thought UH OH. It was a great technical achievement, but a compelling story and game it was not.

It was with this in mind I took my first steps in 16th Century Florence with a hint of anxiety and intrepidation. And then I fell into a sea of molten chocolate and fluffy pillows. And then the river as Ezio kicked off from a wall with no real input from me XD.

Start off with a few negatives. The biggy is that the game crashes when you try multiple assassinations in quick succession. Don't expect to be bowled over by the vista of Rome from on top of the Coliseum either, because you don't get the chance.
Finally, whilst up close the graphics are beautiful and more detailed than I've yet to see in a game, the surrounding city and countryside fall victim once again to Ubisoft's over use of distance fade. Texture's take a big hit at distance, they usually do in open world titles, but for me the washout of saturation and contrast is unnecessary.
It's still beautiful, but a little more colour on the horizon would really have brought the fantastic rolling hills of Tuscany to life.

That out of the way this is the best game I've ever played. The story has been brought to the forefront of focus, as opposed to AC1 in which it seemed put in only to give you reason to use the gameplay.
It's personal, the characters are hugely likeable and believable, with the only exception cropping up towards the beginning as your uncle introduces himself as "It'sa me! Mario!" XDDDDDDD

Whilst Florence is lovely, Tuscany picturesque and Forli moody, it's Venice that's the real star. It's HUGE.

The other part of the game I loved where the Assassin's Crypts. These are those special interior PoP-esque platforming levels you heard so much about prior to release. Well they're damn good, albeit rather challenging in places. You get rewarded though.

You think Ezio looks cool on the cover? You wait till you get all six of those seals from the crypts and unlock the Armour of Altair. When I heard that, I thought, shit, Altair looked awful in comparison. Fortunately, this armour is not the outfit from AC1. It's UHMEIZING. Just wait and see.

The achievements are piss easy too. I've already platinumed it. And I'm shit.

Get this game. Just don't use those double blades too quickly in succession unless you have a penchant for restarting your console and the missions with it.

And I haven't sat on a bench once.

Yeah.

I haven't had too many gameplay issues/bugs, it's just ridiculously easy. I've sat on benches to do the stealth Assassination's because well... they're cool. Yet it is awesome, in a perfect world there would be a patch/update with a harder difficulty setting but that's dreaming.

Yea, fair do's the difficulty is easy. I mean, I only died 10 times during the story, and over half of those where falls. In battle it's just 'oh, low health? Insta-medicine!'

I myself used plenty of Insta-Medicines. The RPG-Elements are an interesting twist, but should be expounded upon more. All the new features are balanced OK, but really once you upgrade your Villa it's just kind of a waiting game to buy everything.

I was kind of hoping for more from the villa thing, maybe something more comprehensive. And the combat is still iffy, but all in all I liked it. The whole story really immersed me, though, but I've hear differing opinions.

Me during the game: WHERE'S THE F***ING FEATHERS!?!?!? WHERE'S THE F***ING FEATHERS! *sees one with a guard around it* ... MUST... KILL... MUST... COLLECT!

Beat the OFFICIAL game with 79/100 feathers... but now, some awesome moments:

I was running around in the San Gimignano area (And Tuscany) When I saw a bandit running around on the rooftops. Naturally, I tried to catch the guy because at THIS point of the game, I'm desperate for funds (Incidentally, I now have over 1,000,000 florins because I wasn't even in VENICE when I completed the architectual works at the Villa. :redd: ).

Anyways, I chase him, and an archer is bumped by him, and gives chase as well. After a while (And a LOT of bad jumping on my part... kept falling off and having to get back to the roofs), I finally caught up to them, and saw the archer take out his sword, and slash at the bandit, causing the BANDIT to fall off the side and die. When I went down there, the archer followed me, looked at the body, then went "Did YOU do this!?" And started attacking ME!

Messed up, but f***ing FUNNY!

Another archer incident occured in Venice, this time, a glitch: I was looking for feathers and treasure chests while searching closely from the rooftops. Naturally, I would take out any archer I thought to be troublesome, so I walked up to one and backstabbed him with the hidden blade.

... All of a sudden, directly behind me on the SAME ROOF, Guard after Guard started spawning. LITERALLY BEHIND ME! Like if they were any closer they'd be on Ezio's head! Just appearing out of thin air like they were being placed there by a hyperactive kid clicking "Place" in GMOD! :beef:

I used my hidden blades to kill TWO AT ONCE, by which point there was probably 40 in that one spot! All yelling "ON HIM!" as they spawned... sounded more like "ONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIONHIO...".

After the double-kill animation ended, I jumped off the roof in fear, landed with a 3/4 health decrease (Didn't care, I was scared!) and looked back up to see a bunch of guards just... standing on the roof behind me, shoving each other yelling "HE WAS JUST HERE!" over and over again until I was annonymous again... by that point, I was too far to see what happened to the Insta-Spawning guards... I just wanted to get to a medic and turn off the game.

Anything else happen to anyone else?

Sorry for the Double-Post, but I forgot to add this previously:

Spoiler: Sequence 10
When hunting Dante and Silvio for the END of the sequence, I broke through the first line of guards, and Dante kept running. Meanwhile, SILVIO just completely stopped and stared at a wall. I decided to take advantage of that, thinking Dante could put up a REAL fight! I stab Silvio, and chase Dante.

I get all the way to the Boat, and stop when Dante turns around, taking out his axe. I ready my Sword of Altair, and... the guard behind me pushed me into the water! :beef:

Oh, it gets worse... how?... DANTE JUMPED IN AFTER ME! And so, the sequence ended with Silvio lagging enough for me to get a cheap kill, and Dante, who's labelled in-game as brain-damaged... diving into the instant-death water. :edgeworth:

AI-induced deaths are epic. That scenario happened to me too although I forget where. It's pretty amusing when the game saves you the trouble of shoving a dagger through someone's heart.

Yeah, downloaded and completed it. It's worth the money but there's quite a bit of repetitive combat/babysitting. And Machiavelli is woefully underused.

Sforza's hilarious though.

No, but hearing Caterina Sforza yell profanity and crudity at the guards is just hilarious. Let's just say some of their heads may have ended up inside her wang chung.

I mean the girl that Ezio "saved" at the dock the first time he visited Forli. He was like, "I'm gonna tap that," and Leonardo said, "Dude, she's married," but of course Ezio doesn't care. That WAS Caterina Sforza. XD
That's what this whole DLC is based upon. But no, alas. Ezio doesn't get any noblewoman poontang.
Besides she's had like 10 children, and from what she said I gathered she wouldn't rule out more. She'd be as loose as my granddad's unelasticated trousers.

Spoiler: Some hilarious quotes, but better to wait and hear them in the game before reading this
"How about I come up there and rip your balls off?"

"You're not afraid of me? You will be when I come up there and cut your heads off, piss down your necks and shove your faces up my c***!
I'll stick your balls with a fork and roast them over my kitchen fire! How's that sound?"

"You want my children? Take them! I HAVE THE INSTRUMENT TO MAKE MORE!" *lifts skirt*

Am I the only one who thought the Viewpoints were kiiiinda useless in the game, in terms of their overall existance?

The FEATHERS, are used for a "collector" to locate, AND are related to Ezio's brother... Weapons and Armor are pretty obvious in terms of use, and you can get treasure maps in the game so THEM SHOWING THE TOWNS would be logical...

I dunno, it seemed like, while I was playing, the whole "Search for Viewpoints" thing got pretty redundant after a while, at least to me... what do you guys think? Was there anything in-game that seemed kinda... not really "purposeful"?

... Oh, and the Poison... I think I only used that thing Five times, solely as attempts for the "Doctor" achievement. :gregory:

Actually I love hunting for viewpoints, and I'm very sad that I've cleared them all. I like climbing things!

I've found poison to be the most useful when doing side assassinations where you're not allowed to get detected. It's very easy to sneak up next to someone, poison them, and just stride away. Also, entertaining! I found the gun to be less useful, since it takes so long and is so loud.

I've never been able to use the poison. In direct combat, it selects just the blade and in stealth combat it flat-out has no effect and results in the guard just turning around and engaging me. What's the deal?

Being the perfectionist I am, I always find all the viewpoints possible before doing any missions. I like to have the map completed. I also like the little cinematics. Especially the ones in Rural Tuscany. The fields and hills were purdy.

Poison I used more for comedic effect. The side assassination where you have to take out like 20 brutes is a great time to use it, poison a couple, then get slashing.

The gun is good for taking out archers that are out of throwing knife range, but otherwise yea. Disappointing.

I like climbing structures as well, actually... but the whole integration of viewpoints in the game just seemed like a massive "Oh! Look at how beautiful the graphics are!" excuse...

I found a conventional use for EACH item except for ones such as poison:

Double Blades: whenever I see a lone guard who's guarding a treasure chest in an area away from other guards, I walk up to him, constantly tapping the "X" button... Before he gets a chance to shove me, I just shiv the guy and grab the treasure. NO risk of detection or climbing around and behind the guy to loot, then around and behind him to get away.

Gunblade (I'm sooooooo clever! :godot: ): whenever I see an enemy in the distance that I NEED to take out with numerous guards around them, I just select the pistol, charge, and fire... Anyone who did the side-assassination requiring you to kill the traitors who disguised themselves as renaissance clowns SHOULD know exactly how useful the pistol is, when they go to kill 2 of the clowns and see, like, 10 guards around each of them... from the proper location, you CAN kill them and the guards WON'T detect you.

Smoke Bombs: I used to consider these useless until the challenge of killing 10 guards without getting hit... In Venice, ASSUMING the theives haven't taken residence, go to the area of your first assassination, run past the guards, and TWELVE MINIMUM will attack you. Use ONE smoke bomb, and stab a bunch of them. THEN when the other guards have come to their senses, run past to the remaining guards, and throw a second one. You SHOULD have enough time to kill the remaining necessary guards for the achievement.

Throwing Knives: Distance killing without detection? Sure, but I find them best for ANY archer... in later levels, 2 will take any archer out.

Special Assassinations: Double Assassinations, "Balcony" assassinations, etc... these are soooooo useful when you finally get the "capes"... no notoriety increase means no seeking out ANYONE or ANYTHING to re-lower it regardless of how many you kill, or HOW you kill... it also makes air-assassinations fun to do and NO consequences for doing them. :-P

ONE thing truly disappointed me above all else: The "Vehicle" uses... ONE use of the flying machine, and ONE use of the carriage... really disappointing, they were fun to do!

I've found poison to be the most useful when doing side assassinations where you're not allowed to get detected. It's very easy to sneak up next to someone, poison them, and just stride away. Also, entertaining! I found the gun to be less useful, since it takes so long and is so loud.

I like climbing structures as well, actually... but the whole integration of viewpoints in the game just seemed like a massive "Oh! Look at how beautiful the graphics are!" excuse...

Viewpoints actually make sense within the context of the world; Ezio needs to understand what the terrain around him is like so he can find treasure chests, mission contracts, etc.

Also, got any tips for my poison predicament?

I've never been able to use the poison. In direct combat, it selects just the blade and in stealth combat it flat-out has no effect and results in the guard just turning around and engaging me. What's the deal?

I don't know if you can even use the poison in direct combat. As for in stealth, are you sure you're selecting the right icon? Or is your notoriety too high maybe? If they see you and alert before you can prick them it's kinda useless.

Yeah this game rocks!!!
I especially love finding cool ways to assassinate someone like when we had to assassinate the old guy in venice, I just jump from the second story to his back
and then he gets all surprised and face towards my way then I just stab him in the gut in front of his guards. I just love that :karma:
