OK, so I'd forgotten how epic this game was until I replayed it recently, although said replay was somewhat marred by the fact that he won't play past Chapter 13 due to me dropping it one to many times but ah well. :U

I haven't played the rest of the series just yet but I'm looking into getting Yakuza 2 (and inevitably 3 and 4, and hopefully Kenzan should they bring it to the West), and I'm grateful that the original Japanese voice acting is kept in the sequels. Partly because it makes more sense, mostly because the hilarious voice acting was awkward sounding and of course, the hilarious mispronunciation of names that were said to them three seconds ago. Like that Akemi shit in Chapter 11.



But overall, I think it's a pretty solid and fun action game that I reckon you should check out if you're into a modern take on old school beat em ups. Anyone else play this series?

Yakuza 2 is great, especially since they left the Japanese cast and just did subtitles. There are some moments that are so over the top they're just amazing. I can't spoil it :X

Unfortunately, Kenzan is never coming out here. They almost didn't commit to bringing out 3; Kenzan being a spinoff, and a historical one at that, means I'd be shocked if they decided to go for it. As sad as it makes me ;o;

Yeah, I'd heard they left the Japanese audio track in it. Makes more sense but it's kind of confusing when you hear Fuma being refered to as 'Kazama'. Especially considering Kazuma and Kazama are so similar.

Thank god they're bringing out 3 though. I'd hate to think that there's storyline that I can only experience through YouTube videos and Wikipedia entries because they won't localise it. I'm looking forward to the fourth one as well, mostly because of those 3 new protags.

Oh, and was anyone else disappointed by the lack of screentime Shinji got? When I started the game, I thought he was gonna be like, your sidekick for the rest of the game after the funeral but he's a behind the scenes ninja. Ah well, I ended up liking Date better. |D

Bumping this because I've played some various Yakuza related crap since my post.

Ok, so I finished Yakuza 2. Fucking amazing. The combat is much better than the original, and the voice acting isn't hilariously awful at all. Set Pieces were insane though.





Oh, and I downloaded the Yakuza 3 demo today. I'm very happy with it thus far. The Karaoke minigame is a blast. XD Can't wait to get it in March.
