Most shocking secret identity reveal?*SPOILERS*

Since I couldn't fit it into the topic title, this thread will have spoilers for all US-released Ace Attorney games, which currently includes the Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, and Miles Edgeworth ones. But no spoilers from any games not yet released in the US. And I totally never knew we could not create polls here.O_O I mostly mean actual secret identities, as opposed to a character suddenly switching attitudes, but you can comment on those too. Anyway, here are the options I thought of, though I guess there's nothing to stop you from coming up with your own:



Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
-Old man turns out to be Yanni Yogi.

Phoenix Wright: Justice For All
-Ini Miney is discovered to actually be her sister, Mimi.
-Bellboy/Butler turns out to be assassin Shelley de Killer.
-Space alien security person turns out to be Oldbag.

Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
-Melissa Foster revealed to be Dahlia Hawethorne.
-Victim Elise turns out to be Mia and Maya's missing mother, Misty Fey.
-"Iris" who takes the stand and is discovered to actually be a channeled Dahlia.
-Channeled Dahlia revealed to be a possessed Maya Fey.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
-Victim Shadi Smith is actually Trucy's missing father, Zak Gramarye.
-Lamiroir turns out to be Trucy and Apollo's mother, Thalassa, who was thought to be dead.

Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations
-Agent Shi-na discovered to be Callisto Yew.
-Callisto Yew, Byrne Faraday, and Tyrell Badd revealed to be Great Theif.

Ferdie, I want this to be a topic where everyone can discuss freely, without spoiler tags. They can be convenient, but they can also be frustrating, especially since this is a topic for talking about things that are spoilerish. I could not fit specific spoiler warnings for Ace Attorney Investigations and Apollo Justice, as well as Phoenix Wright, so I made sure to warn that there would be spoilers for the whole Ace Attorney series at the very beginning to the topic.

The topic clearly states there are spoilers for Ace Attorney Investigations, so what's the problem? Is there nowhere for this to be talked about? We don't have a general discussion section for the series, and most of the reveals are from Phoenix Wright. The topic is kinda ruined now. Depends on what you mean by shocking -- I figured out most of the ones I hadn't been spoiled on well before they were presented, but I was still impressed by a bunch. Like the Dahlia swap was obvious to me in the first conversation with Phoenix after the quake, but I thought it was well-done -- I was bouncing with glee waiting to just lay it out in court. (And I think you can argue Phoenix gets it right then as well, since he stops being so worried about Maya, though he doesn't say anything specific.)

I was spoiled on AJ, so I'm not sure how it would have felt. I wish I hadn't been -- I tried to avoid quite as many spoilers for AA:I, and mostly succeeded. (See under cut.)

I'd avoided most spoilers, but been spoiled on the Callisto/Shih-na reveal by looking at sprites. Oops. I'm not sure how much impact it would have had if I hadn't -- it was sort of an odd reveal, since we hadn't learned much about Shih-na at all. I was completely blown away by the Yatagarasu reveal -- I can't believe I missed the whole point of the three legs, but I did. I was expecting it to possibly be Lang, because of his random tiny cameo in case 4.

Ini Miney = Mimi Miney: Best one, by far. I did NOT see that coming.
Bellboy/Butler = Shelley DeKiller: Obvious
Security = Oldbag: Not that much of a surprise...
Mellissa Foster = Dahlia Hawthorne: EXTREMELY obvious
Elise Deaxnim = Misty Fey: Didn't see it coming. 4th best one
"Iris" Hawthorne = Dahlia Hawthorne: Didn't see it coming. 3rd best one
Dahlia Hawthorne = Maya Fey: Not too obvious, but I saw it coming.
Shadi Smith = Zak Gramarye: Realized it as soon as I saw Zak Gramarye.
Lamiroir = Thalassa Gramarye: Didn't see it coming. 5th best one

Calisto Yew + Byrne Faraday + Tyrell Badd = Yatagarasu: Didn't see it coming, but it didn't surprise me very much.

Out of the ones listed, I'd probably say Yatagarasu's true identity. Most of the others I either saw coming or wasn't emotionally invested in enough to be 'shocked' when it came out. (Elise = Misty might have been more suprising if the pendant she dropped wasn't filed into the Court Record as KURAIN MASTER'S TALISMAN. Kind of a not-so-subtle hint there.)

Most suprising reveal for me was Iris as Morgan's daughter. Now THAT came completely out of left field.

She doesn't use that second sprite until the scene where she's about to be revealed anyway. Interesting fact: unlike earlier AAI identity reveals, if you overlay the sprites, they don't match up.

Then the game asked me "Who is the person in the witness stand?" and I... I was really shocked! I can't even describe it!
-Bellboy/Butler turns out to be assassin Shelley de Killer. What? Who didn't see this coming?!
-Space alien security person turns out to be Oldbag. It's not like you saw her for even a minute before that was revealed. But it was still shocking to see Oldbag in this game.

-Melissa Foster revealed to be Dahlia Hawethorne. Uhm, we WERE supposed to play Case 1 before Case 4, right? Because that...kind of gave it away, you know.
-Victim Elise turns out to be Mia and Maya's missing mother, Misty Fey. Wasn't so shocking at first, but then I thought about it. It was MAYA'S MOTHER. Finally, after SEVENTEEN YEARS, she found her, and now she's dead! Wow. Just wow. They talked about Maya's mother in the other two games and I expected her to return, but not like this!
-"Iris" who takes the stand and is discovered to actually be a channeled Dahlia. I didn't see it coming, but wasn't so surprised.
-Channeled Dahlia revealed to be a possessed Maya Fey. Now THIS is a truly surprising moment. "Where is Maya Fey right now?". My thoughts: "Can't be in the Hazakura Temple. Not in the Inner Temple either, we kinda confirmed that one. The only one that's left is the courtroom, but that's just absurd........wait a minute......AAAAAAH!!!

Spoiler: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney

-Victim Shadi Smith is actually Trucy's missing father, Zak Gramarye. Shadi is a memorable name, and I figured it out when I first heard the name Shadi Enigmar. I was really surprised.
-Lamiroir turns out to be Trucy and Apollo's mother, Thalassa, who was thought to be dead. Figured that one out right after I saw her photo in the locket for the first time. I thought it was obvious. :S

Spoiler: Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations

-Agent Shi-na discovered to be Callisto Yew. Didn't see it coming, I just thought "It would be cool if it was like that". Right after I used my logic to figure out that Shih-na should have seen the Yatagarasu next to the room with the victim, I said to myself "Please don't be the murderer, Shih-na" because she's one of my favorite characters. Well, she wasn't the murderer. But she WAS Yew. Even though she wasn't the murderer, she was a murderer.
-Callisto Yew, Byrne Faraday, and Tyrell Badd revealed to be Great Theif. Wasn't very shocked about them being a group until I found out Badd was one of them.
