This is a fairly simple thread, the idea is to play as the translator. I was thinking back a few years ago about how most of the western videogame world had no idea Gyakuten Saiban even existed. I don't know if there were any fan translations of the origonal game, but I did wonder what the theoretical fan translator would name the characters (if s/he even did). So what names would you give the characters? Below are some of the names I would think of for Gyakuten Saiban 1 characters.

Wright is just too perfect and is a great equivlant for the "is that so?" I'd say most of us probably would have used Wright, but I don't know what the first name would be.

Hue Maker; "When there is trouble, you know Hue's the Maker"

Kim Mont; Just a simple translation of his Jappanese name. Kim is just a name that poped out of my head.

Al Hurtz; close to "ow hurts"

I would probably keep their names the same because of the OBVIOUS Jappanese influence that can't be covered up by any person in charge of localization.

Don Dusk; obvious reference there. Don=Dawn, Dusk=well, dusk. It is supposed to be something in (or at least close to) chronological order to match the Jappanese name.

Danna Nite; Danna=Day, Nite=Night. Though come to think of it, that name unintentionally sounds like "Dynamite" and we all know how Ms. May goes off. I wanted something in chronolgical order and just took something similar to her bosses name (like the Jappanese version)

Osward Sharp; Sharp should be obvious. Osward contains the letters for "sword."

Daul Armstrong; Daul=Dull, Armstrong is the name of a Jazz mucision (I don't know why but Gumeshoe reminded me of Jazz for some reason)

Welton Grande; Well Ton Grand, and I have nothing against fat people xD

Benjamin Sesame; Taken to match the Jappanese name (Bejamin is a name often used to refere to the youngest and Sesame Seeds are quite small).

Penny:

Pesk Trubler; Pest Trouble

Maranne Olde; Moron 'n Old; Matches the Jappanese name

Anoyan Geke; Matches the Jappanese name

Rose Royale; Just making it Royal sounding =P

:Penny Nicholas: Tammy Fanycraz; Just a reference to how she can go from a quiet girl to a crazy fan of the Steel Samurai

Damion Black; Nice evil sounding name there

Allen Porter; Reference to two poets who in the end suffered a great deal (Edgar Allen Poe and William Sydney Porter)

Claire Prabelm; Claire is just a name that I like, and Prabelm is a spoof on Problem.


Well that is it. Some of them are pretty good I would say. Others are just plain corny or stupid. Let's see what you can make up for names based on these characters. But can someone else think of a name for Phoenix other than Wright? I'm drawing a blank for that one.
