Walt could hear Nadine's voice in his head, but it didn't form any words. Did she even know what he was saying? Maybe he needed to be stronger in his own thinking?
"Nadine!" he shouted. "Can you hear me?!" He tried emanating his yelling in his head, wondering if that would work, but somehow doubting it would.

She approached Nadine, stopping a polite few feet away from her, and once again put her weight on her cane.
"I'll be quick, then: to answer your immediate concerns, I am in part responsible for this. To be perfectly honest, it is that woman there," The elderly woman said, indicating the still Eve with a slight hand gesture. "who is the one who intended for this this to occur. Your companions are safe; in fact, nothing is happening to them. Only you are witness to this phenomenon, and only you will be able to hear or see me, Nadine. It relates to your ability to read the thoughts of others..."
The woman gave a wink and a smile before continuing, though not once pausing to let Nadine have a chance to speak. "To answer the question that I know would eventually come up at some point, I am indeed privy your mind and thoughts. Of the moment you were touched, you became an open book, and it is because of this that you are having this conversation with me. ...I would like to stress, at this point, to keep from your mind clear of anything you would wish kept private or hidden from others, if only as a precaution."
The woman's smile faded, leaving a solemn, slightly worried expression across her face.
"Now then, is there anything you would like to ask about, or... should I move onto my reason for all of this?"

I have one question, she said hesitantly, looking back at Hubris' unmoving body. Hubris...why is he so important to these people? They never leave him be. She kept her question intentionally vague so that her thoughts wouldn't wander off in the wrong direction.

She chuckled a little and shook her head. "Personally, I find it rather silly. All the attention given to your friend now will no doubt attract the unwanted attention that they were trying to prevent; it's like a predictable story out of a novel-- ah, but my opinions really don't matter in the long run."
A serious look returned to her face. "Your friend has the inexplicable ability to manipulate eight separate, unextraordinary objects with a thought, and make them do extraordinary things. Those mirrors were made long before he was, so how is it that he is able to do this, do you not wonder?"
"...ah, one more thing about him." She said, glancing off to the side and scratching her chin coyly. "It would seem he had been shot in the head sometime within the last twenty-four hours. You may want to ask him about how he's still standing once this is all over~"

Turning back to her, Nadine folded her arms. ....So who are you? Why did you do...this? She gestured at the frozen environment around her. She wanted to ask how as well, but she had the feeling it was just another of those mystical things that didn't make sense, like how Nadine had become an angel.

Sky looked at Ubrig strangely.
Not many people like visiting Saile, Why do you think he's always in the mortal world?
"I thought it was his job.."
He asked for the job after about 2 earth years in his castle. He is actually a very lonely person.
"Didn't you visit him?"
This caught Ubrig off guard, the last time he or anyone went to Saile's castle was after Mayoi, Saile, his brother, and Ubrig himself fought the Technaught angel.
They chased Saile as he fleed.
I did once.
Ubrig has still not forgiven Saile for when he killed those innocents.
"Could we visit him?"

point? Not to sound rude, but my friends are kind of in trouble with those two. She pointed at Adam and Eve. It unsettled her not being able to see anyone moving, and she wanted to be able to get back to reality, as it were.

The woman straightened up a bit, and held the cane in one hand. Standing upright perfectly fine, it made her use of the cane before seem unnecessary. Her new posture, as well as the returned solemness of her expression, only helped add to the impact of her following words.
"The 'eternal lovers,' Adam and Eve... I implore you, for their sakes, if not for your companions', will you please kill them?"

After a long pause, she looked at Saile's motionless form. ...Is it really necessary? Knowing the answer to her slightly desperate question, Nadine sighed, turning back to Evie. ...I'll do it. I don't know what reasons you have but...I probably should do it. He killed Saile... she added in a lame attempt to justify herself.

"But your Saile stands right over there." Evie replied. There was a slight sting in her tone now. "You were there. You saw your friend attack, and Adam go to the defense of his lover. You cannot kill them with hatred fueling your heart. It would only be manslaughter."
Her voice softened again. "You are hesitant at this, it shows you really have a good heart. If it will make things easier, let me share with you some words..."
Evie strolled over to the frozen form of Adam and Eve. "Adam has been alive through World War II, and since then has been in active combat ever since. He has seen so much bloodshed, that he has willingly restrained himself from killing for all those years. You saw the tattoos on his back: those were in memory of his failures to keep his pact. He holds both events deeply in his heart... he is not able to leave his position, and is ultimately forced by the system to fight until the day he dies. And he won't. Not naturally."
"Eve... that nightmare you saw is how she sees the world. She was also alive during the second World War, and was only a civilian, a teacher. She witnessed the... th-the... the murder of her st-...."
At this point, Evie stopped talking and turned her back to Nadine, facing Eve. She was silent a moment.
"War is a monstrosity. The soldiers fight but the aim of their leaders is to send terror to the politicians by slaying innocents. It's all just intimidation from one person in power to another, of trying to keep more of your people alive than what you've lost. On that same day he came to save us from the attacks, we lost ourselves in the bloodshed. Our mind snapped, and I became a figment, a memory. I... she... we... see the world... painted in the blood of those who have died in front of our eyes, who couldn't be saved no matter how hard we fought and kicked and struggled, through the pain of those knives... those bullets... those screams..."
Evie turned around, and for a single moment looked decades younger. Tears of blood ran down her face. "Please... don't kill out of hatred... save us..."

She returned her gaze to look Evie in the eye, a determined glint in them as she nodded, understanding the importance of Evie's request. After all, she'd made the effort to contact Nadine, so it was clearly important. I understand. She looked to Eve, standing beyond Evie. We'll save you, Evie, she said, addressing the frail form of Eve. You and Adam.

Walt opened his eyes to see...nothing. No houses. No graves. He wondered if he warped to the right place at all.
"W-where am I?" he asked. As if anyone's here except you. Focus. There was one reason and one alone that drove you here. Walt gulped and walked toward the lake. It's odd. There was a whole town here before. Now, there's nothing. Walt sat on the shore, looking into the water.
"It was here...Where Sis died...and where I was accused of murder..." Walt said to no one in particular as he stared into the lake. "His body's still down there somewhere..." He could swear he saw the haunting image of a woman in the water. "Somewhere around here...She is buried as well..." He got up and brushed his pants over with his hands. "No point in dwelling on the past. I should only focus on what's ahead." He looked around. "I was kinda hoping there would be a stick of some sort that I could use to replace my staff..." He gazed around soberly. "But I guess I'll have no such luck."

Poor timing, but I had a monster of a class assignment put on my shoulders the day after that last post. Lets just say that I did nothing short of make a formal political debate on a controversial subject. Thankfully, it's past. Pretty sure I won without stepping on too many toes...))
Evie gave a weak smile. She tried to walk to Nadine before stopping in mid-step, clutching her chest in pain. The ground beneath her slowly started to lose focus, intermingling with her shadow until it became a solid black blur.
"I-it seems I've almost run out of time." She said. "I was already struggling to call out to you, but your friend's magics seemed to have given me the boost I needed to communicate with you. However, it seems that this was only temporary... he helped recover me, but something that is both ceaseless and irrevocable cannot be permanently undone."
That oblique darkness started to spread, almost voraciously, from beneath the frail woman, covering the ground and washing around the still-figures' feet like a torrent.
"...as it stands, you and your friends will not live through this ordeal. This was no random attack; no, it was carefully planned out... a 'flawless' strategy, created by ******, who above all else views ****** as a thr**t to furt*** ******..." As she spoke, some of her words became muffled, inexplicably silencing upon certain key words.
For a time, her mouth continued to move, but no words came out. She was completely unaware.
Finally, her voice returned. "...whatever you do, however, do not give up hope. Within this complex chain of deception and trickery, there is one single weak link. Break this link, and your survival...and our salvation... will be all but assured."
The black murk began to take on a oozy viscosity, becoming slimy as it spread.

Watching her sink slowly, she waited for the others to regain their movement. One weak link... As she waited, she desperately tried to think of a plan, eyes wide on Evie.

Kaamos and Sancer left the castle of Love, and walked the mortal realm.
A snowy village of a long forgotten country had an unexpected rush of wind, snow was blowing in thicker and thicker.
But the children still played, the mothers spoke in the tongues only spoken by women.
From out of a group of children Sancer walked, unnoticed by the children.
She was always invisible to them; even when she wasn't an angel, the cruelty of mortals set in at an early age.
Kaamos, (who was not too far away) Came from the thickest part of the storm, as if he was the storm.
If you had touched his skin he would have been colder than the snow, but nobody ever touched him.
Nobody to hug, no one to warm him.
So he remained cold.

I don't know. I just have the feeling someone or something is watching me... Walt pulled the device out of his pocket and twirled it in his hand.
"Must be because of this thing," he mumbled.
Why?
"Well, this was inside the bear...I just get the feeling this thing somehow influenced it..." He held it closer to his eyes, trying to examine it more carefully, as if the device somehow held all the answers.

The children ran to their mothers, who had called them to retreat from the storm.
Sancer was alone, and the snow was too thick for her to see Kaamos.
She began to cry.
A man quietly walked up behind her.
"Are you lost little girl?" He placed his hand on her shoulder.
No.. she sniffed.
"Heh.." The man wrapped one arm around her neck and put the other over her mouth.
"I guess nobody will miss you huh?"
Stop! Help! her voice muffled through his hand.
"shut up you little bitch!" the man jerked back, and then stopped.
Sancer had split half of the hydrogen from the oxygen in his body, and his arms went limply to his side.
She stepped away from the body and used her fingers to push all of the hydrogen together.
((I'm guessing Insho and maybe Lida knows what happens when you put hydrogen atoms close together.

Anyways, thank you for putting up with my request, Nadine. (Though to be perfectly honest, I never once said that she was sinking into the dark, just that it spread out from beneath her. I have much more finesse than that!)
Anyways, a bit of atmosphere from a familiar source again.))
Evie struggled to move as murk rose around her feet. She stopped fighting as the amorphous dark stopped rising, only spreading outward continually, past Nadine and the others.
"...you wish to return." She said. Despite her deteriorating condition, the elderly woman gave a warm smile once again. "Do not forget, all that you see is not real, only the result of our link between our minds. The reality is that you are still touched by my hand, and that all this shall have passed within a fraction of a second, with nothing but your memories as proof that it happened. All you need to do is will yourself back, and be prepared for the consequences."
The murk started to take shape. The black, oozy surface became uneven, craggy, bizarre bumps rising and falling along it's surface. Beneath Evie, the most action was occurring, as something churned the viscous material.
"There are, even in chaos, rules that must be followed. Patterns... I'm sure you'll find the answer. Look to your friends for guidance."
The black finally took solid shape. Spreading outward like the mass of flesh, a wave of color filtered across the squishy surface beneath them, changing into a bloody gray behemoth. The sky started to darken almost immediately, and as far as could be seen, giant, bright red eyes started to emerge from the flesh. The churning beneath the elderly woman finally gave way, as she was lifted up slowly by a large, pink mound of flesh. Surrounding her slimy platform, a enormous ivory horns slid upward, in a circle around her.
A tongue, and an exaggerated leechlike mouth.
"Tell your angel friend my thanks for this last opportunity to think clearly again." She continued, her smile unwavering as the great maw continued to form and widen around her. "If it is any consolation, your upcoming struggle will not be against me as I am. Afterall, I am what's left of reason."
It snapped shut like a mousetrap, the teeth swinging closed haphazardly and unanimously with a sickening crunch. The spikes impaled Evie, all throughout her body and head, leaving only her face-- slack-jawed and in a permanent state of shock --and parts of her arms on the outer rim of this mess of teeth. Blood trickled down from her mangled remains, lifeless eyes staring blindly into nothing.
Those same lifeless eyes, they swiveled to stare straight at Nadine. "Go. Now."
In a spray of awful noises, sights and liquids, the great gnashing maw disappeared back into the thick mass of earth-flesh, and with it, the elderly woman.
((And that's how I kill off a character. Was this too much?))

Looking away from Evie's grisly situation, Nadine looked at Saile. No sooner had he arrived then he had been frozen. Or, so it appeared. She turned back to Evie before bowing her head slightly, waiting for time to unfreeze, or what she was seeing to end.

Guess I'll just have to run, Walt thought. But first...maybe I should check up on her. Walt sighed, centered himself, expanded his mind, and thought, "Nadine. How are you? I'm heading your way. It'll still be a few minutes, but I'll move as fast as I can." The mental pathways would allow Walt to see which direction to go...assuming Nadine replied.

The bat was coming at Flux faster than Saile could move Flux, Luckily Saile's Echo ((Yes I had a plan for him See last couple of pages))
pushed Flux out of the way right before the bat slashed at him.

Lucky me, I found a active 'net source during my trip, so I can keep in touch.))
Adam was standing, rapier in hand and clear of all his wounds. The tattoo of the black dog upon his right shoulder was no longer inflamed, looking like it was no longer so fresh. It's brother, the tattoo of the woman crying amidst a ruined city on his left shoulder, now was less dull as well, like the pigments had been refreshed.
He looked forward, to the slowly growing crowd of people, then back, toward the crystal spire that grew from the rift a good few meters away, and Eve-- who had recoiled and lay on the ground the moment Nadine broke her connection with her, and now lay still --, then finally straight up, at the quickly growing ball of fire in the sky...

Hubris regained his footing, dizzily holding an arm out and covering his eyes with his other hand. He felt like he had been through a blender and back, and his head screamed with pulsing aches.
"...where are we... what is going on?" He said, not really talking to anybody in particular. "Last thing I can recall was getting sucker-punched by some magic using stranger and then nada..."
He glanced up and saw Adam and the toppled Eve, then looked around once more. "W-wait, those two, we fought them before. What the hell have I missed??"
Adam spoke out to the group. "Enough. What is it you think to accomplish? What purpose is saving your ally worth to you anymore? Look up, and see what it has earned you." He raised his sword to point to the sky to increase the effect. "Do you see that? It shall drop upon us, and heaven's fury will wipe us all away in the fires that come. You can't escape anymore; by foot, the impact will quickly overtake and engulf you."

A muffled crack resounded across the field, and a splinter from the bottom of her helmet broke away, leaving a small open split near the right side of her head. The airspace around her was distorting, consuming, nearby sounds as, despite lack of response, activity was very present within her.
Even though Eve's body lay motionless, her mind was a hurricane. She was quickly losing the ability to think coherently, and madness started to creep over her being. Very soon, she wouldn't even be able to identify Adam, much less determine the difference between friend or foe...

No, I haven't explained everything (although I have given the crystal a name. Woot!), but I can say that, for the time being, this is my "anti-Deus Ex Machina" toward almost everybody's apparent ability to teleport at will.

Saile's Echo began to slash at the bat, making sure it didn't get to Flux
Saile turned around to face Adam, who was pointing his sword at Hubris.
Saile stuck his sword into the ground and melted into shadow, he quietly went into Hubris' shadow, only giving it a longer looking appearance.

The pointing finger system, she decided, was far too obvious. Any foe could learn what each pattern of fingers meant. Nadine had been thinking up ways to try and channel her fire without such obvious gestures and had come to a conclusion, but was yet to test it out. After all, there had been so much happening that there was no spare time to develop technique.
After hearing the distant telepathic calls grow stronger, she realised just who must be sending them. This had given her a much needed morale boost alongside Evie's reasons for killing the deadly couple.
Good to hear from you, Walt. Hurry!
Surrender? Adam, you mustn't know us very well... Her voice was tinged with a sharp sarcasm, the edges of her mouth twitching as if they longed to break into a smile. ...We're never going to let you kill Hubris. At least...I'm certainly not.

Then he actually noticed what what was going on.
