After preparing the story of my sprite comic I've started to develop one victim more than any victim deserves. That victim is Hunter Truf. I've really started to love this character, and that combined with me really wanting to do a game; I decided to give him his own.
Hunter Truf: Ace Attorney!

Story
The year is 2020, one year after the man himself got disbarred, Hunter comes back to America after being in the UK for two years. He is greeted not with the warm arms, most imagine, but with murder. Because of his sworn goal of punishing all those guilty, and saving the innocent, he takes up the role of defense attorney, once more. But saving the innocent will not be easy because of the cruel influence of prosecutor Shay DeGray.

Cases
Case 1:The Forgotten Turnabout
A young woman is found dead in her apartment one night and one of her friends is accused. The case seems like a long shot, a witness to the crime and all the facts pointing to the defendant. But Hunter sees something else in this case, a cruel lie framing his defendant.
This case lasts two trial segments, and one investigation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Trial Prior- http://aceattorney.sparklin.org/jeu.php?id_proces=10477

Case 2:Home Sweet Turnabout
After returning from a two year vacation in the UK, Hunter returns to America and finds his friend and fellow defense attorney from the Gavin and Co. Law Offices murdered. His young son, Apollo Justice, is being held responsible and Hunter must prove he didn't kill his father. But can he defeat the dreaded prosecutor, Shay DeGray?
This case last 3 days and a flashback with 2 investigations and 3 trials.

Case 3:Rocking the Turnabout
Hunter's boss invites him to see one of his brother's concerts where another band, Grand Force, is also playing. But when all seems good, the bass guitarist of the Gavinners is found cut with his throat slit and Kristoph's brother Klavier is being held responsible. Can Hunter prove Klavier innocent, while facing hell's greatest fury; a woman, one Shay DeGray, scorned?
This case lasts This case last 3 days with 2 investigations and 2 trials.

Case 4:Crime, Punishment, and Turnabout
Hunter reminisces back to the day of his mother's murder and remembers the man who shot her. That night he has a dream, a dream of killing that man who escaped all those years ago. When he wakes up, he turns on the TV to hear that this man was murdered last night. Suspecting that he did it, he turns himself in. Is he really the killer? Can the real killer be found and put to justice?
This case combines 3 different cases, in total there are 4 trials, and 4 investigations

Main Characters

Old Characters

Kristoph Gavin

Klaiver Gavin

Apollo Justice

New Characters

Hunter Truf
-The main character. A defense attorney who hates injustice, and wrong-doing. Will do anything in the law to get the true culprit convicted. Works at the Gavin and Co. Law Offices

Markus Maen
-Another defense attorney who works at the Gavin and Co. Law Offices. A friend of Hunter.

Alice Truf
- Hunter's sister. Works as his assistant. Wants to be a fashion designer.

Shay DeGray
- Considered one of the greatest prosecutor's at the DA and hates losing. Will do all that she can to get the defendant guilty.

Maxim Cuero
-A local detective. Believes in "guilty until proven innocent" and works extremely well with prosecutors. He may not agree with defense attorney's idea of justice but will help them.

Special Features

New Sprites-All new sprites except for returning characters.
Two playable characters- You play as Kristoph for two trials and two investigations in Case 4, while you play as Hunter for the rest of the game.

A special new lawyer ability- This ability is for just Hunter; it is currently known as "Fate"(Tenitive title). In "Fate" mode you confront a witness(in investigations) or the prosecutor(in court) and try to change their opinion of the case to make it seem the defendant is not guilty. It works much like Psyche-Locks.

Casemaker
Defiantly AAO, possibly PyWright.

The Frozen Turnabout
So this is my stand-alone case I was talking about. This case is going to be about as long as 2-4 and will feature Phoenix Wright as the main character. Anyways, on to details.
Story
When a famous judge in town is found dead at the base of the mountain she and many others live on, her neighbor and fellow officer of the law is accused. The town is set a blaze in rumors and tales of this man's guilt. However the accused insists on him being innocent. Soon Phoenix is pulled into the case by the accused's daughter, who has always claimed her father is innocent, As Phoenix investigates he discovers the mountain is hiding a horrid secret, one that the veteran prosecutor wants to keep hidden.
Casemaker
PyWright, and only PyWright. Why? Personally I like the somewhat simple to use interface and the fact it emulates the games very well are both contributing factors.

CharactersThis game features a handful of custom characters that I have made up and will soon sprite. However I can't currently post them as bed calls.

As always I will keep you updated. Any and all help is appreciated.

Hey, great idea! With new characters, a new ability and a hardcore case! I'm definitely keeping an eye on this thread. Hope it goes well, Supersonic808.

Woo, I'm excited. You already have some cases planned out and a good plot so far along with a special lawyer ability for Hunter Truf. Sounds good, so I'll keep an eye on this.

Just so you all know the first case is expected to come out late this month, early January(AAO version). I have all the characters, evidence, contradictions layed out, all I have to do is script it out.

I'm probably just repeating what Dubius and Ptapcc said, but...
This project looks really interesting. Some good cases and characters. I'll be keeping an eye out for updates.

Right now, I don't have custom sprites for this game. I'll be releasing the cases with placeholder sprites (existing characters) right after I finish scripting, and because you can easily change sprites in AAO, changing them after I get the sprites. This way you can play the cases, actually be interested in the game, and not get bored of waiting about an extra month or two for new sprites.
When I get the base sprites done, I'll put them up here.

Huah... thanks to about 3 big projects in English class the first case is being pushed back by about a month or so. Luckly, one project just happens to be a slimmed down version of the case so a lot can be transferred into this here project also, in about 5 minutes the "stand-alone" case's details will be added to the main post. Enjoy.

Hurray, for legal double post.
Well anyways, quite a few updates. First, the characters section of Frozen Turnabout taunts me so. I can never actually seem to finish it. I always get kicked off the computer before I can, but it will be up today! Next, One two base sprites have been finished for Frozen Turnabout. They'll be found in the spoiler bar of this post. Just for saving space reasons. Please give criticism for improvement. Mainly on the second one, as something is really bugging me about him, but I can't tell what. Thirdly, the first half or so of The Forgotten Turnabout will be out either next week or early the week after. But the poit is it will be out very soon! The script for the first part is about 45% done and about 10% inputted and I'll be working on it for a fair bit of the weekend. After I finish the narration for the project based on it.

Here are the sprites.

Heads are too small.

It looks to me like the forehead of the first one is cut off, but it might not actually be.

Seconding Bad Player on the heads thing, but other than that, those are some nice sprites you've got there! Another suggestion would be to try making the mouth on the first one curve up more naturally, and for the second, try some shading around the nose and cleaning up the part of the neck that meets his shirt. If you need any help animating them, give me a shout!

Looking forward to the release of the first case!

As I said, I knew there was problems with him, but I didn't know what. Looking back now, I think that's what it was! He will be the first edit I'm going to do so I hope that fixes him.

...I offically love you now! I've tried animating before, let's just say I failed. I'll let you know later on as my current priority is finishing "Forgotten" and then getting the bases done for the rest of the cast. Once more, I love you! (P.S. you would no doubt be a beta tester for that.)

Thanks, you have no idea how much that means to me.

On the sader side, I won't be able to work on the cases 'till the weekend as my project is going to take a very long time.

The honor is all mine, yes :3 /bow
I like to think of myself as being fairly decent at sprite animating, so just give me a call when you have the poses you'd like to have animated ready. ~

Ah, if you're making sprite bases, I might be able to help you there, too! I could make bases for you to base your sprites off of, or help with the overall spriting process in general. Inly if you want me to, of course c: ;;

(Oh, that'd be wonderful, I love beta-testing <33 although i might be kind of slow /shot)

Update!

The first case is now about 25% done. I just have to add the extra presses to part 1 and it will be ready for release. Meaning, if I find time to work on this while in Montreal(I leave tomorrow) it should be out next week.

Wow, been a while since I have updated on this thread.

The game is moving along and the first part should be out at the latest next week, hopefully complete with new voice-overs from the kind people at Voice-Acting Club. Also, ShadowEdgeworth has agreed to lend a hand to this project! He is going to help me co-write, help add effects, and generally check things out.

I apologize that I haven't updated this in a while, school has been pretty hectic.

Update!
-ShadowEdgeworth has agreed to help co-write and do clean-ups for Hunter Truf.
-Updated the first post with new parts to the first two cases. This is mainly to tell the story better, and the concept art for two characters look rather cool and without these parts you would never see the full versions. Also note, concept art for the characters will come up in groups of two or three probably every week. This is because drawing is easier than writing a game, and quicker too. Spriting won't be up for a while though, my PC now hates Paint, and I can't download Gimp on it as my PC has no Internet.
-Lastly, all the writing for the first trial of Forgotten is done! All I need to do is preform a check-up and add sound effects.

Yes, the impossible has happened, we are getting somewhere with this damn game!

I played through it, and I have to say, it's a pretty good start. Although, I didn't even know you could put customs in AAO. That's how far behind I am. I like where it's going.
Will eventually make something almost cool!
