I saw the theatrical trailer today and I must say, I'm actually looking forward to it.

Spanish Buzz Lightyear is hilarious.

I'm actually curious what's going to happen in this movie based on the theme. In the first movie, the toys were afraid they were going to be replaced, but in the end Andy played with all the toys and didn't throw any away. In the second movie, they were afraid they were going to be thrown away as the kids get older, but this was postponed because Andy has a baby sister. Now in the third movie Andy is finally in college and too old to keep his toys (not sure what happened to the little sister thing), so now we're left with the question "Now what?" What future can the toys look forward to now even if they do bust out of that daycare centre? I for one would like to know how this ends.

This is why I was initially so interested in Toy Story 3. Based on what Wikipedia said about the movie at the time, it sounded like it was basically going to be about the toys coming to grips with the fact that their time has come and gone (at least with their original, loving owner), and I was really intrigued. Now, though, thanks to trailer info and such, it sounds like it's going to be more of an "escape" plotline, similar to that of Toy Story 2. I'm NOT saying that didn't work well for that movie, and I'm NOT saying it won't work well here. I'm not even saying that TS3 will be unable to retain any poignancy (hopefully it will). I'm just saying my anticipation has been dashed a little, and I've gone from "very excited" to "cautiously optimistic."

Don't disappoint me Pixar! You've shown my doubts to be unfounded twice in a row now (WALL-E, Up)! You can do it again!

I found a sneak peek of one scene near the beginning, when Andy's mom asks him about his toys. It was released at the end of last year, but it's still new to me!

The ending left me and the rest of the movie theater in tears.

Pixar have conquered the summer cinema once again. This movie can not be described in less than glowing terms. The story always has a direction and never stumbles or meanders about. The tone is affable and foreboding at the same time, there is never a moment of character derailment, nods to continuity abound, the humor and drama are kept light and entertaining while staying philosophically deep and emotionally thrilling, and the climax is probably the most convincing moment of peril Pixar has ever produced. If the resolution doesn't profoundly touch you then you have no soul.

No further recommendations are needed. This is a must-see movie even for people who aren't entertained by animated films.

Spoiler: Extreme Downer Moment
Andy gives away all but Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Slinky, Rex, Hamm, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, and the Pizza Planet Martians. Even Bo Peep and the plastic soldiers aren't sparred. A very downer moment indeed. :(

Oh my god. Oh god.

I was so emotionally exhausted after seeing this movie. Like, holy shit.
I haven't cried like that since my flashbacks while watching Marley and Me.
And I haven't laughed my ass off at a movie like that for quite a while.

I'm trying to think... was there any flaw to this movie? I really can't remember any.

And then TOTORO. :D I see what u did thar, John Lasseter.
I really want a big huggable Totoro plushie now.

The theory is that these commercials are actually viral advertising put out by Pixar. I don't think the toy really existed in 1983. They do an incredibly good job with it though.

Anyway, wow was this movie fantastic. It's easily the best of the trilogy. Unbelievable how powerful they managed to make it. I really care about all them toys.

Spoiler: HUGE SPOILERS
When the toys were in the furnace and they were all holding hands, preparing to die, I honestly couldn't predict what was gonna happen. Pixar had me sold that they could really kill them and I was fucking terrified. And then when the Claw came down and saved them, and we saw the aliens I just applauded. Soon the whole theater had joined me. It was incredible.

And then of course the final scene. Oh god the final scene. Incredible.

I have loved the Toy Story movies since I was little. Hell, my brother has a giant bin full of Buzz and Woody toys from when he was little. I still have the Bullseye from when our parents took us to see 2. Now, years later, a Toy Story 3. Imagine my joy as I see the very first commercial for it (to me. Haha.)
And so, my brother decides THAT is what he's going to do for his birthday party: Invite friends to go see Toy Story 3. Tomorrow, in fact. And what happens?

I FIND OUT I HAVE TO WORK.

Toy Story was released in 1995, the year I was born, and the first time I watched it I was around 6 months. Of course, I didn't get it, but, according to my father, I really laughed that day. Then, when I was 3 years old, my dad got it on VHS, and I couldn't stop watching it. I was addicted to it. I could have easily memorized the entire script.
Then, Toy Story 2 came when I was 4. I was so excited, since, as I said, the first Toy Story was my visual Bible. I watched it, and I absolutely loved it. Of course, now that I watch them again, I realize that TS2 is not nearly as good as TS, but I was 4 years old. I didn't care. I was just happy to see more of Woody, Buzz and friends.
Now, 15 years after Toy Story and 11 after Toy Story 2... Toy Story 3.

I'm watching it this Saturday with my friends. I just can't wait to feel like I felt with the first two films... Pixar, Disney, don't you dare diappoint me.

I watched this yesterday.

That scene where they were all holding hands... that was seriously one of the most depressing moments of my life and easily tops the list of most amazing, heart wrenching scenes in movie history.

Also, Ken and Spanish!Buzz were AMAZING. I would totally see a movie about either of these to, no matter how bad it would be. Seriously.

As always, Pixar has proved that each and every person working at that company is an utter genius and can always pull together to make astoundingly memorable movies (even their "flops" are more than decent by regular movie standards). I remember my friend asking me what I would do if I worked at Pixar right before the movie started, and I gave such long winded answer that she asked me to shut up ;) (I was talking about how I would probably maintain and update Pixar's animation software - I'd love to be the person who talks to the animators, takes their commments and input on the program(s), and then design upgrades based on those comments. I guess I know that I really am going to like my future major if I can talk about a potential job for it this much... (and I could talk much, much more... ;D) )

Yeah, that reminds me - just HOW did Pixar get a G rating on this movie? There were some moment when I was fu*king terrified, and I'm 17. I know that some of those scenes towards the end would probably freak out any youngster old enough to comprehend what was happening.

But it's Pixar, i guess.

Because toys are so fun and innocent, right?

WRONG!

Spoiler:
That baby doll was freaky enough before it turned "good," but Lotso--holy crap, LOTSO--that furry bastard would make grown men cry if they met him in a dark alley! (Um, and if he were life-sized.) The giant inferno of hell death destruction was plenty scary too (or at least it would have been, had I not been 100% confident there was no way it would end like that).

Well, anyway, this movie really was fantastic! It was so great, my only complaint against it is completely petty and ridiculous, I'll admit it up front. But still, I was actually kind of disappointed that the ending wasn't more sad than it was. I mean, geez, everyone got such a happy ending! "Okay, we're all living with this other person now, life has meaning again, and everything's hunky-dory!" How could I be upset at a happy ending, right? Well, because they've kinda been playing up the inevitability of Andy "abandoning" his toys and their struggle to come to terms with that ever since Toy Story 2 . Then when the time finally comes in Toy Story 3, we get a "Endings are sad, yes. But there are new beginnings!" message instead. Certainly more inspirational, but not really what I was primed for.

I know this is petty. I know this is stupid. I still LOVED this movie! I'm just saying what I thought.

I can safely say that Toy Story 3 is possibly the only movie I've seen more than once during the first week of release (three times, actually) and actually still enjoyed the whole way through multiple times. I don't think there was anything I outright disliked about the movie, aside from the fact it seemed over before it should have been - I also would've liked to see more of Bonnie's toys than just one brief scene and some clips during the credits. Still, it's a brilliant movie, and has eclipsed its two predecessors in my mind as the best of the trilogy.

On another note, being fluent in spanish, the whole Spanish Buzz thing was even funnier for me. Bilingual bonus FTW.
