Eh...I hate "Glampires" to begin with.

Anyway, in September I do plan on going to the AWA, dressed like Gumshoe. I'm hoping to fine others dress like Phoenix an Maya to take pictures of (and perhaps edgeworth if only to follow around and say SIR!).

Hey, im new here as you can tell ahha, and ever since i joined CR, i have only looked for one thing; people who support phoenix and maya... i finally found it, and i have got me some catching up to do 121 pages to be exact. I love this pairing ever since the second game, glad to find people who agree :acro:

Welcome to the club.
Hmm reading 121 pages isn't really a requirement.
We should make an index. Except we can't edit the first post...
Maybe read the 'evidence' list LOL

Nah, P/I is the one worthy of, uh, derision :nick-sweat: Twilight is sort of the opposite of Yaoi. But it reminds me superficially of P/I actually. Hmm give us some timetravel Phoenix/Phoenix ^_^;

We didn't really plan P/M Day [wasn't it going to be a week?] so I'm not sure much is happening. I, uh, even forgot what date it is. Oops. Last time seemed to work better because it was just after the N American summer, I think, and people's free time recently has probably been taken by PLAYING AAI. And I'll never finish my fanfic by then. Though maybe I can post the first chapter or something.
Then again I could be wrong. Who's planning to do something?

We can always switch to a later date and HYPE IT UP, since September's a while.

March 23rd.
Well, I agree with you, I guess no one is going to do anything...( But I'm still writing my fics! And if I'll have enough time I'll make the video too! Maybe Haik and I will celebrate it alone. Umm...)
We can always do it at Juny 19th, or Juny 22nd(Juny 19th- the start of 2-2, the day Maya and Nick met again, and 22nd, the day when she was found not guilty.)

Well, I always thought it was better to celebrate 2-2 :franny: But we should do something for Mar 23 anyway. Not that we should need a 'day' to celebrate P/M.
Of course we should have the annual P/M day/week on Sep 5 again, since it seemed to work out last time with people's free time.. How's June in terms of those American educational things?
Is Mar 23 going to be a 'DAY' or a 'week'

Let's call Mar 23 a 'celebration'? We shouldn't just cancel it, 'cause it motivates people to make stuff.

Proper P/M day/week in June Y/N/just wait till sep 5? VOTE!!!!!!!!

Here we go:
Spoiler: PHOENIX AND MAYA IN GK
It's in case 3 The Kidnapped Turnabout, Middle, PART 2

vague desc from someone on GameFAQs: 'You get tossed back to the WWW area and are told to go visit the kidnapper's hideout. At that point, you can go to the right to the main gate, where you can't do anything important, but it's the only opportunity you get to go all the way to the right in that screen and see the occupants of the boat in the water.'

After Lang, Gumshoe etc leave. Theres' a point where you're allowed to investigate the area to the right of the Wild Wild West area. Keep checking all the time before you do things which would advance the story...

DON'T talk to that stupid Lauren person and Amano. [At my save point I haven't done it yet, bet it advances things.] Instead just keep going RIGHT out of the Wild Wild West area. You pass a blue badger and a fountain to get to the scene.

And the text. Hmm cryptic.

E: They say that couples who cross this bridge together will find happiness.
Or so the Gatewater Land pamphlet says.
K: But you'd think they'd already be happy because they would be able to come together.
E: Logistics aside, I wonder who came up with this idea and when?
This bridge doesn't look old enough to be the stuff of legends.
K: Well some things are better left uninvestigated, don't you think? Ignorance is bliss!

Oh the last line...

Also, about the voting, I don't really care, it's fine at both dates for me. I thought the P/M week last year was quite the success, so I don't see any reasons to change that. That's just me though.

I'm for the 'celebration' on March 23rd( YAY.) and a week in June, and then regular day at September.
Ew, I didn't even start the fics. And my computer is ruined, I may do it on my sister's comp. I hope I'll make it on time TT
BTW, I'm on the 3rd case in AAI, and I was about to see the picture, BUT my computer crashed that moment. DANG IT! At least I saved my game. I hope it'll come alive.

I don't think there's any point in counting the number of people who posted in this thread. (That's the idea the P/I fan club had, and then certain of their members claimed that we 'stole' it when someone counted in this thread, probably to prove there was more... uh forget the 'rivalry' :gant:)

I think Babess posted here before, but I could be confusing it with the Phoenix Fanclub, welcome.. back?

I think it was something along the line of, after the Phoenix/Maya Day we held back in September 5 was such a success, we were eager to do it again but couldn't bear to wait a whole year. So we scheduled March [the date of 2-4] since it was sort of 6 months later. BUT we didn't get our act together in actually planning anything, because part of the reason P/M Day was such a success was that it was just after the American summer, when CR has a LOT MORE ACTIVITY since there's free time and whatever. Also, when we decided this we didn't count on the fact we'd do that Secret Santa thing where people burned themselves out on P/M fanfic/art around December.

I don't know if June is any better in this free time context than March. But it's IN THE FUTURE so people still have more time to do something major. But we're not going to just cancel the Mar 23 idea either, so if you have time to make some P/M fanwork by then or were already working on it, post it! :hobohodo:

Also, we voted for P/M WEEK rather than Day for the Sep 5 thing and probably all the others, because it makes it easier to finish things and even get here to post/read.

Back then, we also thought some kind of contest/s would motivate people to make stuff, though physical prizes are a problem. I'd say it makes most sense to direct our main effort to the Sep 5 thing again, but it's SO FAR AWAY.

Well AAI did give us some new fanfic material for the unimaginative plot idea - the BOAT TRIP haha.

That is quite debatable to me. It has been indicated in AJ that Phoenix still keeps in touch with Maya even after the dissbarment. (the Samurai DVD on his hospital bed) I feel this actually encourages rather than shatters hope for Phoenix/Maya.

No, AJ doesn't rule out P/M, it just shows they're not, well, married then or something. On the contrary, it proves they're still friends 7 years later. He's writing reports on all million episodes of those DVDs. That's dedication. Just pretend he's with Maya all those months he's offscreen and on his 'secret mission'.
But 3-5 should have been left as an ending for that cast
I think Hobo/Maya is a lovely idea. Actually, it's the best thing about AJ.

Failing that, you can just ignore the game entirely as a weird alternate future. :gant: It's all imaginary anyway, and if Hobo can supposedly time-travel and other things to tax our suspension of belief....

I absolutely agree! And, well, as Kay said, ignorance is bliss! I for one will continue to support Phoenix/Maya even if the writers do the unspeakable and pair him up with Thalassa, or worse... :garyuu: 0_o (no offense to any :phoenix: x :garyuu: fans out there)
________

Hi everyone! I heard that GK was out so I decided I had to stop by (I've read all the new pages, don't worry :godot: )! I've ordered a copy...still hasn't come yet. It's weird that this will be the first one that I actually own (I stole borrowed from my friend to play the other 4).

So yeah, I'm...not really back though........I've been really busy ever since I vanished (i'm a violin/chemistry double degree in college now :meekins: ), and still am, though it's been clearing up a bit. But I've certainly not forgotten about the pairing, it's still the only one I feel strongly about in any fandom! I wanted to write a christmas story, actually, but never got around to it. Hopefully I'll be here more often and at least have something to show for the next Phoenix/Maya day (looks like I missed the first one, oh well) if that's...in June?

Welcome baaaaack! :shoe:

I don't think the writers are stupid enough to do Phoenix/Thalassa. Surely the series will not turn that boring and superficial... and that pairing has about two fans total?
But if it happens I'll just pretend the Bad End of 4-4 happened instead, the player CHOOSES the end, remember, and supposedly 'GS5' would happen after the 'good' end? And for the main timeline, there's always divorce! :butzthumbs:

There's not going to be canon literal P/K, but I think we knew that already...

No problem with a Christmas story out of season...
So, have we decided on P/M Week in June? Or should we just wait till September?
Phoenix/Maya gives definition to the term OTP :sparkly-maggey:

Hmm I think people should at least try to buy the first two games [NEW, else it defeats the point] to inflate sales figures and all. Of course the 3rd one is probably near impossible to find [I have a JP version, actually.]

Oh look, it's almost MAR 23

That's it. AJ is my 'bad ending', the way a case would turn out when Maya isn't at Nick's side.

I beg Capcoms next game is a PWgame, without that 7-years-later-thing. But I think they can't ignore what they did, huh... >.<

And given Phoenix's life situation/public disgrace/Kristoph project, there are a million reasons why they aren't married or living together and still have relationship potential. I mean, it could happen AFTER AJ too, you know. Shipping has an infinite timeline, unless chars die.

Phoenix clearly has a lot of baggage over the whole disbarring thing, which he needs to resolve for life progression. This alone is a perfect explanation why they aren't, well, married. But in AJ it gets RESOLVED, so he can move on. Then there's the public disgrace over the 'Forgin' Attorney' thing. He doesn't want to ruin Maya's image by public association - she's probably Kurain Master, right? Who wants a 'forged channelling'? Kurain Technique was in disgrace over the Misty thing - it only just stopped being a fraud, didn't it? Fanon usually has it that the other people of Kurain don't like him after the disbarring thing either. And if he's pursuing Kristoph, a dangerous mass murderer, maybe he doesn't want to put Maya in danger. It's not the same as the defense attorney thing where he'd be pursuing them a day or 2 later in court. Kristoph could kill Maya or something to get to Phoenix, if he knew he was on to him.. So it's best to keep the relationship, if any, under wraps for all these reasons... and a good reason why it may be delayed if they're not in a relationship. After AJ, these problems don't exist any more. People have other ideas in fanfic too..

Why should he discuss her with Apollo? That's not a good argument. Phoenix tells Apollo NOTHING, not even about cases he's working on THAT DAY till he's expressly forced to. He's the epitome of 'cryptic mentor'. [And a bad mentor too.] He doesn't trust Apollo till the end, clearly.

Well, the 'Flashback' was surreal and probably happened in the 'MASON System' which is a distortion of reality. In fact it's like Phoenix and Ema were snatched out of 1-5, aged-up 7 years and thrust into a surreal video game/simulation of reality. [From this perspective, That's Phoenix's spiritual mentor power. It's all a video game! He began to realise this after he was put in that unwinnable trial simulation and doesn't want to play any more. No wonder he has such a low opinion of Apollo. Since they don't have any proper explanation of the MASON System, which I think is another failing of the game - [like if Maya had just changed into Mia without the reason of spirit channelling.Vaguely EXPLAIN your pseudo-science please! else they're not reasonable], we can take creative license here...]

Okay, if you want it to be an AU.... well with someone on this site, we decided in terms of narration/characterisation an alternate timeline leading to AJ would go like this. The split point is the end of 1-4. [1-5 is in both timelines]. Remember you choose whether to present the bullet to Maya at the end of the game. Before this point, it's unclear if Phoenix values having Maya around as much for her ability to channel Mia if anything. If you present the bullet, he PROVES to Maya he values her for her own assistance, even when she CAN'T channel Mia in 1-4. Maya is clearly highly touched/endeared by this and vows to return to help him after she's completed her training etc. And this is the characterisation pursued in GS2 and put on steroids in 2-2.

Then, if you present something else, Phoenix obviously doesn't really have much use for her outside Mia, he just doesn't want to make her feel bad. Maya vows to train and return anyway, but it's more about Mia, isn't it. That's the 'bad end' of 1-4 I guess, and the characterisation is in the game :godot: After that scenario, maybe Maya is not as eager to see him again, the 'one thing' she want to see, and 2-2 doesn't happen the same way. She returns and they work on some of the same cases, but... :garyuu:

And also if you consider this an Edgeworth-less future, Edgeworth doesn't see 2-2 from overseas and be impressed with Phoenix the way he was in the real GS2, triggering his road to redemption? Butterfly effect.

Aww, I thought Hobo was great, considering what the writers did to his life. Most people would turn out much worse. It's the writers' fault. Injustice! *rabid*

They've written themselves into a corner on many levels. AAI seems like a ploy to avoid the whole thing as long as possible. :lana: Of course, since they'll probably make GS5 eventually, it's a PAIN waiting. The way they did GS4, the casts are basically incompatible without a retool. But they can do a retool.

Definitely. They've left themselves room to develop the new characters, considering how shallow they are compared to GS1
*dodges thrown fruit* :yogi: (Apollo's father? the black locks?) But everything else? Great big roadblock.. The Jurist system is the biggest one, it would mean a complete redo of the very game if they wanted to take it into account...and then there's fans who want Phoenix back *grins sheepishly* and a thousand other factors all mean that GS5 is going to be.......uh, difficult.

And in the GS universe, the timeline doesn’t even end there. eg. MiaXDiego and what have you.

Come to think of it, this can explain Magatama inconsistency of 4-4. By referring to the magatama ambiguously as having gotten it in “a certain case”, he safeguards against any potential backlash that Maya and Kurain might receive should his case fail. The can also explain why Maya was absent in 4-1 (putting aside the whole "Maya is a lawyer" idea for the moment here). He is putting his fate in the hands of a student lawyer one way or another, and what if Apollo should fail? Maya would be in great danger. This also refutes any Maya=Iris parallels between 3-1 and 4-1.

Of course, this would assume the condition that the MASON system is a presentation made by Phoenix to the jury itself. By extension, he is also presenting it to the player since, at the end, we are placed into the role of the final jury member.

I believe that to be what occurred. Yes, AJ was meant to appeal to new audiences, but at the time of its conception the GS fanbase had been built up on the first 3 games and thus the whole MASON System seemed way too unsound regarding past events to be a real depiction of the "7 year gap". This is supported by the logistical consistencies with time travel, and I'm sure that the developers couldn't have overlooked this inconsistency. Phoenix, however, needed something relatively simple to show his jury.

That is interesting to think about. Without Nick, Maya either A) wouldn't have a reason to accept Dr. Grey's job, or B) Accepted it for some other reason. In the latter case, the events of 2-2 would've still occurred and Phoenix would've probably ended up defending her anyway, though it would've been different with their relationship of course. In the former case, Maya would not have attempted the channeling and thus wouldn't have been arrested for murder. More importantly, Morgan wouldn't have been put in jail, at least not for that crime. So the whole story would change considerably.

Do you think that Phoenix's actions at the end of 1-4 show his own sentiments towards Maya? Or is it just an accident of fate that leads to a chain of events? In other words, had he chosen incorrectly in 1-4, would it affect his propensity to take case 1-5 or to run across a burning bridge in 3-5?

Oh man... The writers have their work cut out for them, that's for sure. In regards to Phoenix, I don't think there is one outcome that will satisfy everyone, or even most people. I really don't think that keeping Phoenix as a prominent character will do any good to him or to the storyline as a whole. So at this point I'm hoping that "ignorance is bliss" is a hint at GS5.

Hobo-Feenie IS cool, if he wasn't Phoenix. I just can't imagine this is the same guy and it was a big relief when he acted like he did in GS1-3 in the Mason-system. I loved Nick like he was. Hobo is cool, but.. y'know, I don't think Feenie would have EVER turned out like this.

AND I think Maya would have helped him. Really. Yeah, she's Kurain Master now and probably pretty busy, but she's Maya and would not abandon Phoenix, disbarred, with a little child and a job as a pianist (when he can't play piano.)

Of course there will be fans who love Apollo and will hate it when there are PW-games again. But I think.. GS4 was a total fail. Maybe it's just me (yeeah, I'm a BIT traditional.. Feenie forever..), but the way GS4 ended... Now they have to create a whole new game with a JURY, not a judge. And it would be weird if Thalassa wouldn't appear again (and I thought her behaviour was weird, anyway - I mean "yeah, I have my memory back, but please take care of my kids, though you don't have a real job and were recently accused of murder. But I'm sure you'll do it. See ya." ?!)

Phoenix could take the exams again and we could play the 32-years-old Nick - but really, I don't want to see a 23 years old Maya-sprite, or, worse, 16-years-old Pearls.

And it's totally not possible Ema failed the exams. GS4 is a lie in every single way. *cough* :maggy:
And the dialogues between Apollo and Trucy reminded me of Nick and Maya, just that they weren't as funny and good and touching as Nicks and Mayas. (<- It sounds wrong. I know. Sorry. You know what I mean. xD)

Okaay... Now you know that I played GS4 just once, just to know what happened to Phoenix, and let it disappear in my bookshelf.. xD
I'm german.. so please forgive me mistakes etc. x)
