"I'd get there faster, but I'd decompose on the molecular level if I even thought about warping. Good thing I was always a good runner," Walt thought, running, running. He was on the top of a sand dune when he saw the group below him. Adam and Eve versus Hubris, Nadine, Someone he hadn't seen in a while, what was his name? Fred? It was something like that. And, of course, Salie. He looked up at the sky to see a ball of fire. Oh, that couldn't be good. But what should he do? Should he destroy the crystal spire that was blocking them from warping? Or should he get his butt down there so he can cast a shield to protect everyone when the ball of fire came down? There was no time left! Walt ran towards the group, hoping he'd made the right decision.

The Echo continued to slash at the bat, mindlessly.

((By the way Apollo, I introduced 2 new angels, Kaamos and Sancer.))

It had stopped snowing by then, and The children were just coming out.

Sancer walked away from the the small crater, all of the snow in the area had melted.
Kaamos looked around and found his favorite weather gone.

He looked at Sancer, a mockingly pouty look on his face.

Let's go, we have a long way.

As they began to walk Sancer looked back at the children, how dissapointed they were that the snow had disappeared.

Kaamos nodded, and with whisper they were gone.
leaving behind a light snow fall.

As the atmosphere suddenly changed to one of panic mainly thanks to Flux's sudden appearance, Nadine's face brightened as she spotted Walt dashing towards them. Shaking herself out of her relief, she looked in rapid succession from Adam, to Hubris, to Flux and back to Adam. ...Attack them!

Needing time to think over her new strategy of channelling fire, she hesitated before dashing to the side, sprinting towards Walt. She had to check if he was alright. Who knew where he had been? She looked over her shoulder a last time at Adam before focusing on getting to Walt.

Flux nodded, he then sprinted towards Adam as the center of the katana began to glow neon blue (like Cloud's Ultima Weapon here). He swung it with precision at Adam's chest.

Walt beamed as Nadine came sprinting toward him. He put on an extra burst of speed and...fell flat on his face into the sand.
"Oof," Walt said, forcing himself back up. "Got a little too excited there, I suppose." He hastily tried to rub the sand off his face and tidy up his hair as Nadine came sprinting toward him. Of course, it was to no avail, Walt realized with a sigh.
"N-Nadine, I...that is to say, uh..." He looked back up at the sky. Then back at Nadine. "...Hi." He blushed with embarrassment. Saving the enemies, who beat the crap out of him for saving them, encountering some sort of monster thing, being banished to a frozen wasteland, feeling himself pull apart every single time to warp...Nothing to talk about, Walt thought with a small smile across his face. Then he looked at the scene ahead. "...Adam and Eve are still trying to kill Hubris, aren't they?" he asked sadly. A suicide mission, he recalled bitterly.

Nadine laughed, staggering to a stop by Walt with a grin, brushing some sand out of his face before assuming a more serious expression, examining him for injury. He didn't look too bad - a bit worse for wear, but nothing very serious.

Looking over her shoulder, she frowned, crossing her arms before returning her gaze to Walt. ...Yeah, they are. Walt, we have to kill them. I was told... She tailed off with an attempt at hiding her upset expression. She still wasn't happy about the need to kill, but knew it was necessary.

Adam saw the blade come toward him and ducked forward-- before rising back up in a blur and wrapping his now-restored arm around Flux's, reaching backwards to grab the hilt of the katana in a counter-attack. His entangled limb pinned Flux's weapon away from himself, giving him the freedom to get close to Flux.

"You can't beat me at hand-to-hand combat, neophyte. You haven't lived a life of it... And I'll make sure all of you cannot." He said, face to face with Flux.
With a kick to Flux's chest, he forced himself away from Flux, leaving Flux with the katana and gaining only distance apart. Not once did he use his own weapon to attack.

From her sprawled position on the ground Eve leapt to her feet, her feet shuffling forward while her upper body righted itself slower than the rest of her. Her jaw quivered continually, and she was still enshrouded in a lack of sound.

From elsewhere, her thoughts were manipulated to an almost robotic focus to the state of the battlefeld.
'SUBJECTS: Six; TARGETS: Five; "Allies": One, identified as AMARNA UNIT-004 -- Estimated battle efficiency low, total efficiency lacking; AMARNA UNIT-004 using non-lethal tactics, advised means of action: Seize control, Reinstate Nightmare field illusion, Instate Sonic Assault; Initiating..._'

Clutching herself across her chest and quickly hunching over, she was engulfed in a distortion of sound and light; a repeat of her previous attack, it spread outward, at a slower pace than before, swallowing up the crystal and spreading quickly toward Adam and the group.

"...Ah," Walt said, averting his eyes. How was he supposed to kill the people he worked so hard to save? "Well, whatever we need to do..." Then, he remembered Ubrig's spell. Was it still in effect? Would he only wind up hurting himself if he tried to hurt Adam?
"I see...Looks like Eve's attacking. I could use your aid in creating a shield. I don't know about you, but I don't particularly like fighting where everything is distorted." He chuckled, then turned serious again as he stepped closer to the group. "It will be easier if we don't have to make the shield very big."

Saile made a small portion of his shadow trail off and stab the bat while it was laying on the ground.
But Saile still kept inside Hubris' shadow, waiting to defend him.

((Well, to be fair, we see the "reflections of light" as shapes and colors, so to make a repeat of what happened last time, it wouldn't be to far-fetched to describe these particular sonic waves are disrupting the light (what we see) as well as sounds. Ergo, you can't see through the 'bubble', which was all I meant to say from it.

Ah, useless explanation is useless. Back to my AAI. >.>))

Sancer and Kaamos didn't like flying much, Sancer was afraid of heights and so was Kaamos.
But he never showed it.

If it was your first time seeing Kaamos you might be surprised how much he looked like a lion, his wild brown hair that looked almost like a mane. The way his face was dark, dark from the time he's spent in the cold. How alive he looked, everything was a challenge that he could overcome.
And he was Despair.

But if you looked at Sancer, you would see a small girl in a plain white dress, her hair so blonde it was almost as white as her dress.
If you had known how she had become an angel, you might feel sorry for her, how she lost both of her parents in an accident that ultimately took her life six years later? How a girl spent half of her life on a hospital bed, never waking, with only the comfort of the end too look forward to?

It is said that all empty rooms are Despair's castle, and all mirrors his eyes.
At one time he was even god, for two short years in Afghanistan he was created as a god by the spilling of the blood of the mortals who made him.
They would step into empty rooms and kill themselves, calling his name as their last word.
It is humans who make gods, and the act of bloodshed, or sacrifice that gives them power.

"Despair"

Kaamos was soon forgotten, but his power remained.
When the angels started to converge he decided to join them, finding no other use for himself.
He wouldn't be the first god to become an angel, most notably was Odin who; when forgotten, decided to fill in the role as the Angel of Magic.

In Sancer's state, the hospital room was like an empty room.
One final sacrifice to a long forgotten god, and he gave her everything.

And she was Hope.

Nadine nodded, stepping closer to the group alongside Walt. If we weave a shield, will it last if I break concentration when it's completed? I want to fight, she said firmly. Her eyes lingered on the shadow that was Saile with worry. Would he survive another fight against Adam?

"Agh!" Flux cried. "Screw this! I've been through too damn much!"
The katana suddenly split into two thinner swords. They glowed red instead of blue.
Flux flung them at the base of the spire, as they seemed to spin around the spire, cutting
into it of their own accord.
"And that's where you're wrong!" Flux shouted at Adam. "I HAVE lived a lifetime of combat! I was the sole survivor in my continent of the most devastating civil war imaginable! So don't you DARE tell me that when it comes to combat, I'm inferior! Don't you DARE!"

The blades lodged into the crystal chipping it, but nothing more. Almost immediately, a faint glow came across the spire, and with an almost hungry intensity, started to spread it's own material over the blades, "consuming" them and covering them more crystal. Once both swords were sufficiently encased, the activity stopped, and the spire became still again, hidden within Eve's spreading 'bubble'.

"You ARE inferior. You still smile, you can joke without guilt..." Adam said. "A civil war is nothing compared to the hell I was put through back in 1940... This isn't a contest, sport, this is a fu--"

He was cut off before he could finish when Eve's distortion engulfed him. He had a brief look of shock before disappearing beneath the spreading surface. Suddenly, it increased it's pace, and rushed outward at a much faster pace.

Hubris was placed between where Flux and Nadine stood, and backed up uneasily at the spreading sphere's advancement. He took a quick look upward and his nervousness only increased.

'I dunno what that is, but it's coming down fast.' He thought. 'I dunno if I could stop it-- it'd probably burn me up if I got close, and I don't think I could repulse something that fast quick enough to stop it hitting ground... And those two nutjobs trying to kill us....'

Spinning over to face Nadine and Walt, Hubris called out. "Oi! If you two are planning something over there, now's a good time to help!"

"That's the beauty of combining out power. Only one of us will need to be concentrating on the shield," Walt said. He wasn't sure how to feel about Nadine fighting Adam. "Look, Nadine, there's something you should know before..." He stopped himself mid-sentence. "Ah, never mind. It's not important..." And you'll see it for yourself soon enough. "Anyway, even though the shield will remain up even with only one of us concentrating on it, but it will still take up both of our energies." He then ran at the group, seeing Adam get swallowed by the distortion. Was he hurt? Walt should be able to feel it if he was...
"We'll need your help, Flux and Hubris. Nadine and I...We can create a shield to protect us, but it may not be strong enough unless you two could lend us some energy." He cast everyone an apologetic look. "I don't have a lot in the energy department, so..." He saw the fireball moving quicker toward them, the distortion coming closer as well. "What are we waiting for?" Walt rose his hands and started forming a shield around the group.

"Oh, I mght have forgotten to mention this." Flux spawned a small shiny bubble. A shield. "I'll explain later. I'll have no prob making a shield and\or keeping it open."

Hearing Hubris' impatient shout for help, Nadine snapped away from her strategic thoughts, only sparing a moment of curiosity at Walt's unfinished sentence before nodding, placing a hand on his shoulder to transfer about 50% of her magical energy to him. She didn't seem to use any magical energy with her angelic powers, so that was what she could spare without feeling weak physically.

Releasing Walt's shoulder, she spun around, moving into place beside Hubris and staring intensely at the sphere of distortion heading for them, trying desperately not to let her worry show on her face. It seemed to be a distortion of light, but nothing that Nadine could do would do anything against the light. Faced with no other choice, she drew her dagger in her right hand, taking a ready stance and waiting for the distortion to hit them.

"..." If Flux could make a shield so easily, then what the heck am I doing here? "Um...Right. Well, make a shield around us, then, posthaste," Walt said to Flux. "A really, reaally strong one." He then turned to the distortion. "Thank you, Nadine. I should be able to help with this." He made a grab for his back, where his staff was, then remembered how it was broken. And how his gun blade was dismantled somewhere, too. "Um...Yeah..." He held up his hands in preparation for a spell of some sort. Though which spell he was going to use, he had no idea.

"Alright."
Flux stood still calmly. He raised his hand, opening up a hemi-sphere shaped bubble-shield. It grew until it covered the whole group.
"Now I have to strengthen it."
He twisted his hand as the transparent-looking bubbling changed to a pale blue, then a brighter blue and then near-white. Finally, he produced several red rings that rotated around the shield at 60mph.
"Well, let's hope that holds!" Flux said. He waited.

Nadine paused, looking back as she saw red rings flashing around their group. She smiled grimly at Walt. ...Looks like Flux has the shield covered. ...Help me? She gestured at the space beside her, turning back to face the approaching distortion. The thing she hated most about it was the fact that she didn't actually know what it was or what it would do if it hit them.

"Do you even have to ask?" he asked, stepping so he was right beside Nadine. He faced the distortion. "Let's see...I have absolutely no idea what to do to stop this. I guess the only way is to somehow find our way through and..." Kill Eve. "Or we could hope the shield works against it."

Nadine nodded at Walt's words. Thing is, it just looks like light. If that's all it is, surely walking into it wouldn't hurt us? She paused, unsure of whether it would actually be worth it, walking into the unknown at the risk of being killed, all for the words of an old woman that didn't actually exist. ...I don't know what to do either. Other than the safe option of staying in the shield.

"...It won't hurt us," Walt admitted. It didn't hurt Adam any... "Flux, is there any way we could make the shield move with us? That way, in case the fireball comes down or Adam or Eve decide to attack, we'll have protection." Seems like the most convenient option, at any rate.

The distortion spread outward and over the group and the shield. Inside was dark; it created the feeling of a heavy pressure on those not within the barrier created by Flux-- those within could see absolutely nothing but blackness. A loud rumbling rang across the barrier, like a violent force trying to force it's way inside. Quiet whispers echoed inside the protective bubble, speaking in tongues that couldn't be understood.

Those outside the protection were witness to the nightmare once more: fires, ruined homes, the sky raining blood and a great white light above slowly descending-- much more slowly than the satellite had before.

Something was different however, Eve and Adam were nowhere to be found. The ground held clues, though, multiple sets of tracks, as if somebody had shuffled through the blood-soaked mud, and around some of the destroyed buildings. Along with the tracks were light blue strings, trailing along the ground and around the corner as well, to an unknown origin.

Hubris, within Flux's protection, felt it again.
That ringing between his ears, that no one else ever seemed to feel. It was particularly strong this time. Even under the protection of the barrier Flux put up, with each whisper, something resonated within him. The source of his migraines.

"It looks like this is holding together." Hubris said, giving up on trying to peer through the complete blackness enshrouding the shield. "Would this shield be able to withstand whatever... that thing is falling down on us?"

"Yeah, I can move it, but-" Flux didn't finish the sentence. The light barrier sweft over the group. "What the hell?!" Flux looked around. "Uh, yeah, it should be able to withstand several meteors. But you might want to transfer some of your energy to it. I'm just a 12 year-old, after all. I guess that Pespsi this morning might have helped..." he trailed off.

As the distortion englulfed the globe of protection, Nadine gasped as all light within abruptly disappeared. When the whispering started, the hairs on her neck stood up and she shivered, eyes darting around fearfully despite the fact she couldn't see anything. If there was anything that Nadine couldn't deal with, it was complete helplessness. ...And that was the current situation.

She reached out to assure herself of someone else's Presence other than Hubris and Flux's voices, managing to grab onto Walt's hand. The darkness... she thought to him anxiously, struggling to remain calm. The darkness was almost...suffocating in its blackness, and the knowledge that the fireball was almost upon them hung over her head like a timer even though Flux claimed the barrier would hold.

Walt gingerly wrapped his fingers around Nadine's.
"It's alright. It's just darkness. No need to fret," he said bravely. Although the voices did creep him out. "Standing around and doubting the effectiveness of the barrier won't help anything." Walt held up his hands, casting his own shield under the one Flux created. "That'll reinforce it. I'll try casting an illuminating charm in here to see if we can receive light." He took a deep breath and raised his arms once again, letting light shoot out of his palms above him, trying to gauge whether or not light would simply be swallowed by the darkness.

The light illuminated the dark, revealing... nothing. From within the barriers, there were no changes visible-- in fact, all that there seemed to be was just a great umbrage, somehow masking the light of the sun.

There was also activity, just beyond the light cast by Walt: a trio of figures or objects, several meters away, masked by this unnatural shade.

Even still, what was seen within and what was seen outside the barriers were completely different; a step outside the barrier, and the world would change into the Nightmare once again to the beholder. With the addition of Walt's shield, the hushed voices quieted slightly.

From his limited view of things, and not even knowing the dramatic change in scenery that leaving the safety of the magic protection would cause, this only sparked the question 'What was the true nature of this distortion?' to Hubris, as the pounding between his temples lessened with the whispering voices.

Nadine squeezed Walt's hand, grateful for the support. Looking around, she saw that the light spell hadn't particularly helped. It also pained her that all they were doing was hiding under a shield when she'd been given a task by Evie. She couldn't blow up the meteor or whatever it was again - that had caused too much pain and she wasn't sure that her wings would survive another ignition.

She folded them tightly into her back, looking around with a frown. What, so we just sit and wait to see what happens?

He looked around inside the shield. "I don't want to lose anyone here..." Especially not you. "Besides, there is no way to tell where to even start looking for them."

Unsure of whether she was actually meant to hear that thought or not, Nadine released Walt's hand quickly, tucking it in a pocket. She kept her right hand occupied by twisting the knife between her fingers nervously. She turned as Walt spoke aloud, looking back at him curiously. Hmm?

That's good said the voice, even though Saile's mouth had stopped moving.

It would seem only Walt could hear the voice, or perhaps he was the only one who wanted to hear it.

Walt felt like he had been slapped in the face as Nadine pulled her hand out of his grasp. What happened...? Oh, crap! That's right. She can read thoughts, Walt thought. Stupid...Wait, that means she might be hearing these thoughts right now. Think of something else! "Er...Good? What's good?" he asked.
