"Okay...I'm officially creeped out," Walt commented. "Darkness... calling for it's children...I guess he wants me to stop my luminous charm." He turned to the others in the group. "But, uh...I won't do it if no one else wants me to. The dark was... unsettling."

Still extremely confused, Nadine looked at Walt and back to Saile. She'd only heard him say that something was calling for its children, nothing about darkness. ...Saile? What do you mean? She didn't want Walt to stop the luminous charm - the darkness made her feel even more helpless than she already did.

"Let you out? But you don't even know what this...thing does," Walt said. "And what about the meteor, huh? If you're out when that thing comes crashing down..." If he was out when that thing came crashing down, what would happen? He's an angel...He would survive it, right? But if he didn't...If he died again... He looked at Nadine. Would she be able to forgive me for letting it happen?
"Just...If you still insist on being let out, I'll lower the barrier for you," he added. "But it will be hard to let you back in once you're out. Are you quite sure that is what you want?"

Saile turned his head around without turning his body, his neck turned black and then stretched over to Nadine's face.
While his head was next to hers he stretched it just a bit more and to her right, whispering in her ear.

Most little girls are afraid of the dark.

The voice called in Walt's head.
And sometimes the dark isn't as scared.

his head then moved over to Flux and coiled around his body, almost touching it.

you helped make this shield, lower it.

and in the shadow of Saile's neck if you looked close enough you could see mouths opening and closing.
Teeth gnashing and licking.

What's wrong with you?"

This "Meteor" would destroy the shield anyways.
Saile's head returned to his body.

He began to press on the side of the shield with his right hand, as hard as he could.

((Bad news, my laptop is all but in the grave. Trouble up ahead as far as punctuality will go, but I will persevere to see this saga through, even if I won't be on time the whole time!))

'Preparations finalized. Engaging.'

Something from the outside strike the barrier, hitting with enough force that the ground shakes a little and a heavy reverberation rings through it. And the ringing only increases.

A sonic blast continues to assault the barrier from the depths of the illusion, an unceasing and nearly inhuman scream that (with it's level of volume and unnatural wavelengths) impacts the protection much like a physical object. And it doesn't stop there-- the some of the sound-waves, albeit not in their full entirety, manage to enter the barrier and stay in; the shockwaves took their toll on the barrier's surface, but it was the resonation from it that leaked inside.

The barrier was now like a bell, like an echo chamber, and the pure noise climbed up the scale as the attack continued. A distanced, sonic assault.

Saile morphed his arm to make it a lace. He stabbed at the shield at the same part he had punched before, putting a small crack in it.

Nadine cried out as the barrier was finally struck, falling forwards onto the ground with the sheer force of it. She clamped her hands over her ears, sending a mental shout to Flux.

Open the barrier!

Her eyes were locked on Saile. What's wrong with him?

Saile pulled the lance back, a hole opened on the back of his elbow. ((Forearm is the lace, rest of arm is still normal.))

Walt hesitated in lowering his barrier when Nadine said she was going to go with Salie. How could he put her in that kind of danger? Then, he felt his energy drain as Salie punched at the barrier.
"S-stop! I haven't lowered barrier yet!" Walt shouted frantically. He just got his energy back and now he was losing it again...Any attacks on the barrier from the inside, Walt felt, but from the outside...Something hit! And then...noise. The noise...Walt couldn't hear anything else...His energy drained yet again as Salie struck the barrier with...a lance? His forearm had somehow morphed into a lance! Walt sighed and lowered his barrier reinforcement.
"If you're going out there, Nadine, so am I!" he thought, hoping she could still hear him.

Not yet realising that the barrier was gone, Nadine heard a familiar thought-voice echo in her head. Her heart sank. In her haste to reply, it came out of her mouth in a drowned out shout instea of a telepathic message.

No! I can't lose you too! She rushed to Saile, grabbing his upper arm above the lance in an attempt to bring him to his senses. Saile! Stop!

Flux fell to the ground. The shockwaves rippled through him. He hesitated to bring down the shield. In the end he produced shields around him, Hubris, Nadine and Walt. Then he let down his original shield. "Whatever you say, Nadine! I guess since Saile's gone insane you guys are the bosses..."

As Flux created a shield separating her from Saile, Nadine's hand was abruptly forced back behind the shield wall. She cried out before slamming both hands against the inside of the shield. Hey! She gritted her teeth, banging against the shield again.

Saile stabbed forward with the lance, unaware the shield had went down. The hole in his arm let out a huge gust of wind as it propelled Saile forward and he flew forward.

((Gee I hope Saile didn't accidentally HIT anything on the way out.))

Saile's lance struck a nearby rock, shattering it and sending an Echo of the stab forward.

The sonic assault continued across the smaller shields, unwavering as it blasted over them relentlessly. The only thing that had changed was the size and number of the targets, and the eyes of the 'source' did not reach that far, so there was no purpose in changing.

Laying before Saile was the ruined city, the very same that Nadine was witness to prior: lightless sky, houses and buildings now ruins in flames. The whispers heard inside the bubble of Flux's shield were not held back out in the open, and the cries and screams of countless people rang through the cold air like knives upon bare ears.

That great white star that shone as the only source of light in the sky was still far off, but it approached at a slow and steady pace. Despite being the sole source of true light in this hellish void, it held a sinister feel to it that outclassed even this 'nightmare'.

The blood-muddy soil held the footprints freshly, ignoring the red drizzle as it washed across everything. So, too, did the strings that followed the same path remain unaffected by the rain, almost refusing to be buried. The trail wound itself around several buildings, and across a small playground into a medium-sized building: the building lacked the feel of a church, but had a bell hanging at it's top, the hammer once within it laying fallen on the ground, both bronze metal pieces rusted and stained. The strings and footprints ended within the unlit building, wherein a darkness that defied the light cast by the flames and star above permeated.

And from within the center of this void, countless red eyes gazed outward, in all directions.
It was radiating danger, and was the true core of all this horror.

Fresh, the edges are moist.
He looked to the area the prints lead to.

Nadine stumbled forwards, holding out a hand to create a small spark of fire to see with. The light from the falling star and the fires were still quite dim. Trying to ignore the familiarly nightmarish scene before them, she stepped closer to Saile before pausing. Saile?

She looked around for any sign of Adam and Eve, eyes skipping past each terrifying sight quickly.

((I'll accept the DoMaya Doomsday plot. A lot better than the original "It's based off Half-Life" that this once started from. XD))

Hubris couldn't react, still encased in the barrier. All he knew was that his companions were obscured beyond the edges of the aegis keeping him safe. A sudden pain spiked in his head and he let out a short yelp before covering his ears.

Originating from within the collapsed school at the far edge of the ruined city, another sonic blast came erupting out. It trailed along the ground, following the path of footprints and dubious strings like a slithering serpent, aimed to engulf the others before joining the first stream of soundwaves in smashing upon the remaining barriers.

((Long range attack! Ruuuuuun Forrest! RUUUUUUUN!!))

Hearing a loud boom, Nadine spun around to see a wave of sound and light heading their way once more. Not having time to pause to think about Saile's wellbeing, she gave a huge flap of her wings to push herself above the ground. She continued to fly upward until she deemed it safe that the blast wouldn't hit her, so ended up just among the tops of the tallest collapsed buildings.

The fire in her hand went out.

((Yay Insho likes my story! But remember, Saile is the angel of Hatred, so anything he felt at that time was a collective of all of the worlds hatred.

And I like the sound of that, The DoMaya Doomsday))

Saile was forgetting more and more about his friends as his mind went in and out of itself.
Got to... Find a target..
Saile watched as Nadine flew up into the air, and waved as if it was perfectly normal.

That was of course until he got hit by one of the waves on energy.
Grah! a wave had just grazed his foot.
Saile jumped into the air and started to fly to where the waves were originated from.

((I call it a wave because I find it easier to imagine.))

Emerging from the confines of the schoolhouse ruins, a figure slowly moved itself in front of the main doorway. It was still enshrouded in shade, but even to those who's eyes could pierce the dark, the details of this figure were mysteriously obscured. It was quite large, and bulky, but neither face nor form could be seen clearly.

As it settled into place blockading the building's doorway, several strained, muffled grunts came from it. A thick thud as it hit something into the dirt before it, and all was still.

Saile saw a shadow rise from the ground, to his dismay he couldn't see what it was that hid inside the shadow.

He then heard Flux call for him.

Flux get to the school!
Saile hoped he didn't have to remind Flux that he couldn't teleport.

"Ah! Uh...okay!" Flux replied. He ran in the direction of the voice, hoping Saile would see him, as a crippling sonic wave came his way. He used his shield energy to create his own sonic wave. This, effectively, canceled out the wave coming towards him. He didn't want to break a limb.

((Oh-ho, I had hoped somebody would do this. I don't mean for this to look like I'm god modding, but for the sake of hurrying things along, I'll just keep pushing back. Nobody gets off easy til we're all dead! >XD))

ALERT!: Retaliation detected. Starting analysis, predicting adequate countermeasures...

On cue, another stream of sonic waves came barreling out of the enshrouded schoolhouse, passing over the figure standing in the doorway like a stream of water. Again, the sound tore up the ground and eerily followed the paths, but took an abrupt turn, bound toward Flux.

A distance away, and despite the protection of the barrier, Hubris felt another sudden pain lance though his head.
"Dammit... what is this?" He mumbled. His vision went blurry from the sensation, and he had to drop to his knees to keep from falling over.
