Snipe grinned again:

"Mr. Russell. You saw the shovel, so shouldn't you know the answer? However let's see the Police Report once again... Hmm..."

He acted, like he would be thinking seriously about the question, Russell and Kaminogi presented nearly simultaneousley.

"Ok... Let's see... No blood. No mentioning about the blood."

But the report doesn't! If the report doesn't state such thing... Then it isn't there. Simple.

Soryuu frowned, the bastard was trying to cover the blood up now that it was inconvienient to him. Well two could play at that game. "So what you are saying is that Detective Gumshoe lied under oath? If so, I'd like to ask that he take the stand again after we are done with this witness, as we must get to the bottom of any and all contradictions."

"Either detective Gumshoe lied, or he was mistaken. I've heard he's been mistaken before, so it can be likely he's wrong this time as well. I see no reason for the detective to lie. He has no attachment to the case, and no other possible motive. Unless you have some idea Mr. Soryuu?"

Soryuu half-winced at that, but then regained his composure. He couldn't stop here, he needed that blood. "I agree that is possible Your Honor, however I believe that the blood was accidentally left out of the report. And now that it is bringing up a problem in Mr. Snipe's case, he's using this as an excuse to deny it's existance!"

Snipe took the smoke off his mouth and remained staring Mr. Kaminogi for a moment. Then he put the smoke back and folded his arms. He closed his eyes:

"You're saying, that the blood was accidentally left out of the report... I don't like your tone, Mr. Kaminogi. Are you suggesting something... Or are you just trying to make the session stall again?"

Soryuu paused for a couple of seconds, plotting out his next statement carefully. One mistake here and he'd be looking at a big penalty. "I'm not suggesting anything Mr. Snipe, it's just that the whole thing seems odd to me. If you knew that there was no blood on the shovel why didn't you correct the detective when he testified? It doesn't make any sense to simply let a mistake like that pass." Soryuu finished and waited in anticipation for Sigmund's response.

Neil tapped his temples with both hands, then looked at Kaminogi, then at Snipe.

"Wait, wait, shouldn't you guys both have access to the Court Recordthingamajig? So you could both have thrown in one of your fancy OBJECTION!s because it wasn't right."

Neil chuckled and shaked his head.

"Lawyers these days.."

Snipe frowned for a moment, finding an answer:
"There are three obvious alternatives:

1. Either Mr. Gumshoe is a petty liar and should be assigned to the 'Latrine Division'
2. The Blood was added afterwards
3. There was blood, but it was either intentionally or by accident left off the records

He went silent for a moment. He examined the records:

"Very well... I play your game - for now. DT Gumshoe testified about Maria's blood on the handle and the blade... However, this police report states nothing about it. Peculiar thing, indeed. But a point, that clarifies it a bit is, that this report - was not written by Gumshoe. Unless the guy escaped back to his HQ, I have him waiting in the Prosec's Lobby."

((could we get somebody to play the defendant? There are some questions I'd like to ask him during the next recess.))

Soryuu nodded while thinking if he had anything else he needed to ask Russell. Then he said, "That will suffice. I don't have anything further to ask this witness."

Finally, John Cartridge took the stand. He seemed a bit younger than he was, with wide brown eyes and a slightly round face. His head was shaved, but mostly covered by the Policeman's cap he wore. He stood tall, seeming calm, but upon closer inspection, it was easy to see he was a bit excited and nervous to be testifying for the first time. He waited for the Prosecutor to speak.

Snipe nodded to Cartridge and cleared his throat, before continuing. He looked at Attorney Kaminogi, just like seeking his approval - which he didn't need. Then he looked at the military officers at the audience, just like seeking THEIR approval... Well he sort of needed that. They nodded back.

"Now", he started after seconds feeling, like eternity.

"I am going to ask you a set of questions, which you answer respectively. After I'm done, the representative of the Defendant has the right to cross-examine you with a set of his questions, if required. First of all, please state your name and occupation for the record."

John nodded. "My name is John Cartridge. I'm a Highway Patrolman with the police force." His voice sounded a bit young, and he spoke quickly, yet clearly.

Snipe grinned. He studied his papers in front of him.

"Officer Cartridge, a Highway Patrolman... Locked and loaded...", he mumbled, while making notes.

He stepped out of the Prosecution Desk and walked in front of the witness stand with some papers:

"Officer Cartridge. I'm not going to bother you with curious questions about how on Earth can a highway patrolman become a homicide detective in a blink of an eye... Anyways, the records show, that you were indeed in charge of the investigations, before Detective Gumshoe was assigned to the job. Am I correct?"

John nodded. "Yes, up until three days ago, I was in charge, before Detective Gumshoe took over. He's much better at it that me, it seems..." he got a bit misty eyed, likely in adoration.

Soryuu had been about to take a sip of coffee but stopped when he heard Snipe's question. He put down his mug and fought the scowl that was starting to form on his face. He had a sinking feeling where this was going, but couldn't do anything to stop it yet....

John was a bit unnerved by the almost sadistic expression on the prosecutor's face, but he took the report, and read out the basic details.

"The Death occurred sometime between 10:30 and 11 P.M. on the 26th of July. The death was due to loss of blood, caused by three 9 millimeter bullets. One bullet punctured the right lung, so the victim likely did not live more than half a minute after sustaining the injuries. The other shots were in the waist, which hit the left common iliac artery, and in the shoulder, which penetrated the body. The last bullet has yet to be found."

Soryuu had taken out the report again, scanning it. He had a nagging suspicion that he was missing something in it. A question was in his head that he would ask the officer in a bit. He also thought back to what Cartridge had said. Then it hit him, and he smiled broadly. "Officer Cartridge, would I be correct to say that Detective Gumshoe took over before the defendant was arrested? Ergo you were not part of the team that searched the defendants property? Because I find it highly odd that the report makes no mention of that part of the investigation."

"Mr. Gumshoe took over shortly before the defendant's arrest, yes. This autopsy report has yet to be updated. But I'm still amazed at how easily Mr. Gumshoe found him! He's so incredible..." he was starting to zone out. Again.

Soryuu couldn't hold back the triumphant smirk on his face as he continued, "Officer Cartridge, would I also be correct to say that when you wrote this crime report," Soryuu held it up, "that you weren't given anything on Gumshoe's investigation on the suspect besides the motive for the murder and his being at the pub after the murder took place?"

Snipe looked at Kaminogi, poofing his cigarette. Short blows. He folded his arms. He smiled, stating: "I don't have it."

The crowd started to to talk with eachothers again. Snipe kept a little break:

"That's true. I'm not sure, where the updated report is. I really doubt, if such is existing... The Force tends to be as little co-operative with the Military, as possible."

He smiled again. A small feeling of losing was itching in his head, but he dumped it away.

I'm just working here. As much as I'd like to feed that cup to Mr. Kaminogi - it's nothing personal, he thought
