Yep, the next chapter in the Zelda series was announced today, on E3. It will be released on the Wii sometime during 2011. The graphics look a lot like Twilight Princess, except cel-shaded which is a plus for me. It will also heavily rely on the Wii MotionPlus for sword-fighting.

My thoughts:
Wow... Just wow. I have a feeling that this will be what the fans have been waiting for.

Discussion is... GO!!!

EDIT: Changed the size of the picture, sorry about that. also fixed the links. Boy, I suck.

Now if it'll actually do something different, I'm going to wait a bit before I truly voice my opinion.

^ What did you expect then? TP looked awful.

Besides, as GO said, graphics don't matter that much.

HD graphics are for the weak and socially challenged Sonies and Microsofts. Besides, I like cel-shading.

Yeah, I agree. TP looked so... dull. And every character looked like he/she was made out of plast. I like the art style, but the graphics made it look bad. Since SS has almost the same style except cel-shaded, it should be pretty smooth.

Wind Waker was like a painting. <3

I guess we got all our opinion on that topic
yet I guess I gotta get used to it since I still wanna play it, 20 seconds of a trailer are hardly enough to judge a whole game

Seconded. Some of the landscapes were pretty good, but other than that, it was pretty 'ehh...'

Also, I never understood that, despite having the most 'realistic' graphics of any zelda game, most of the people looked just plain inhuman.

Agreed, the NPCs looked like TWW's characters except realistic. The result was pretty freaky.

I think the problem was that they packed all the weird-looking NPCs in the BEGINNING of the game, with the somewhat normal looking ones appearing much later.

Yeah, like the villagers in Ordon.

The landscapes were cool but the overworld was pretty dead. Little to no exploring and very few sidequests.

Is it wrong that I honestly preferred the golden Skulltula tokens as a sidequest gimmick?

TP was really dissappointing in areas of replay value, partly because of the lack of sidequests, and partly because it takes so LONG to actually get started.

Why can't we have something like MM again? The main thing I liked about was the large amount of sidequests, minus a select few. (DAMN YOU, DON GERO!)

Don Gero? Who/what was that again? But I agree, despite some quests like the one with Anju & Kafei being annoying, it's a good system. I hope they'll reuse that.

TWW had a lot of sidequests as well, mostly on Windfall Island. TP's sidequests were all about collecting stuff, except for that one escort quest involving a barrel of water.

A VERY long sidequest. First, you have to light all the torches in the room in the Goron city with the crying baby, which causes a bunch of pots to start rotating, which you have to roll into in mid-air, one of which will have meat in it. You have to carry this meat ALL the way down the mountain, to give to a hungry Goron, who'll give you a Don Gero mask. Not only that, you have to go to all 4 dungeons and beat every mini-boss, then talk to the little frog in the mini-boss room while wearing the mask. Remember, you have to do this all in ONE cycle. And your reward for doing all that, minus the mask, is... a single heart piece.

Anju and Kafei were annoying, but at least you kinda ENJOYED it. (Well, I did anyway.)

Oh, right. The frog sidequest. I remember now.

Anju & Kafei was annoying because it took so long, but it didn't get hard until the last day when you had to control both Kafei and Link. And if you failed, you had to start over and to the whole thing again. The ending to it made me shed a manly tear or two though.

The biggest pain was having to do it all over again, then getting to the night of the third day and remembering, "SHIT! I FORGOT ABOUT THE PENDANT!"

The graphics are a disappontment, I was hoping for more TP graphics, but chances are I'll get this anyway. I hope they have more side quests like WW and Majora's Mask. I loved the Zunari quest in WW it was so much fun.

Honestly...I've only played Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks...

But hey, this game looks interesting, and it's so hyped up that I know I won't be able to resist actually using my Wii for something other than Brawl just to try this game out at least...

The graphics are really nice, they kinda remind me of the graphics in games like Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata (The semi cell-shaded look).

I'd have to get more info before I make a purchase, but it looks pretty good so far.

Nothing like sitting there, waiting for Kafei to show up, check your inventory for no reason, and it's still there.

Perhaps his song will jog your memory?
Here ya go!

Maybe seeing the little quest dance may help....I adore his mask for some bizzare reason...

Or ya could be lazy and simply google him on some Zelda Wiki. He is very important really but I like him because he's so....Odd.

Ohhhh, him. Yeah, I loved that guy. And his funky fresh beats. I also love that dance scene because SOMEHOW that 'mask' gives Lunk super dance powers.

Well, seeing as I pointed this out elsewhere already, I'll quote myself. Japan didn't like Twilight Princess all that much.

Actual sales figures, the most blatant demonstration
A more general wiki page on sales for the franchise as a whole
Kotaku reporting on TP dropping off the Japanese Top 30 ...in December 2006
Joystiq reports on the apparent sales failure of TP in Japan
And the kicker: Blue Dragon beats Twilight Princess in the Japanese sales charts

Quote:
In spite of the game's success in North America and Europe, Miyamoto has publicly expressed disappointment with Twilight Princess' modest sales in Japan, and commented: “Well, I think a lot of people who bought the Wii are not necessarily the types of people who are interested in playing that kind of game. And a lot of the people who would want to play it [due to chronic shortages of the console] can't find a Wii! But mostly, I think it's that there are fewer and fewer people who are interested in playing a big role-playing game like Zelda." Currently, the game is the second best selling game in the series (combined total) with 6.82 million sold worldwide.

Yeah, Twilight Princess didn't do so well in Japan, I doubt they're going to make that mistake twice.

And just in case that wasn't enough...

Quote:
As of July 2006, The Wind Waker is the thirteenth highest-selling game of the 21st century in the United States, with 2.2 million copies sold. It's also the fifth best-selling GameCube title in Japan, with 742,000 units.

Mystery solved.

Oh and for the record: best looking Zelda ever, and I've only seen a two minute trailer.
Does we even do these things anymore?

Sure why not, in WW he could with the deku-leave, yeah sort of but Link's element is and STAYS the wind element. It is always a hero who appears with wind or something.
