Ron held off like three guys just by spazzing out for a woman he (at the time,) didn't even know. Imagine how much damage he could cause if he was actually fighting a guy who not only nearly got him arrested, but had his wife hostage.

That'd work. Maybe the 'cab driver' is actually a flunky, trying to knock me off, but at the same time trying to make sure you don't die.
And Atmey making robots seems logical, he did try alchemy after all. Trying to make 'bots wouldn't be too much of a stretch for him.
