Hello everybody! I'm about to buy Xbox 360 Slim model as soon it comes out. But I was thinking about the internet... The thing is:

My family's wireless internet connection via router is somehow very bad (location perhaps) and for some time we have been using a thing we call "Mokkula" (I don't know what they call them in English, it's a little USB-connectable device which via Mobile Partner software connects your computer to internet) and I suppose we'll use it in the future for it's supreme speed. But since there is no wireless router anymore, I was wondering how am I gonna connect my soon-to-be Xbox to internet? So here's my strategy:

1. I'll buy a (Nintendo)device which when plugged to your computer creates a wireless router (I think it works that way: like this thing http://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-Access-Poin ... 126&sr=8-2). Then
2. following these steps (http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/n ... sscon.aspx), via Xbox 360 Wireless G Networking Adapter connect to the (Nintendo)device and therefore, connects to internet!!

So, I'm asking you my fellow-forumers, if anyone finds flaws in my "logic". (My friend doubted that it would work, so... Please help :DD)

Edit: here's the Finnish wikipedia-article for "Mokkula". By selecting the language English I think you'll understand what I'm talking about.

You could try the Wired Router method: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/b ... uide.shtml

So... basically what you're saying is that you want to use an EXTERNAL device to connect to the internet? If it's yes, then I don't see the point. The new version is capable of Wi Fi, isn't it? For the Wi fi you just need to have the host name and the wep password of that server (That is if your wi fi connection is protected) if not, you just have to make the console get the signal and the name of the host.

Or you could do what Radio Shadow said.

I hope you understood or found anything useful on what I said.
Thanks. It was, is and always will be a pleasure.

Thank you for your replies! I don't yet know specifically how Xbox's internet configurations work so I'm open to suggestions <3

I imagine the new 360 will still have an ethernet port on the back, so you can just run a cable from your router to the 360 instead of using the wireless...

I doubt that it would by suggestable. The cable should be like 20metres long 'cause our computer and my soon-to-be Xbox will be in different floors.

That can't be such a problem, there are cables that run very long, I connect my PS3 from the modem on the second floor. Though... IDK, How much distance is from your modem to the room your Xbox will be? I know you can throw a cable for at least 7 meters going down the stairs and a hallway that at least should be 3 meters long.

Well cables are always a chance but I'd really want to avoid using them, since they are always pretty annoying and sometimes unsure. The cable should really be like 10 metres long too.

Update: Okay I now have my dear Xbox360 S up and running. But I'm curious (if anyone else has the slim model), my Xbox didn't work in the vertical stand, only in horizontal. Otherwise after the startup it would show this black error screen "E 68".

A good question for the vertical/horizontal. If I recall correctly, standing it vertically cuts off the main cooling unit from working, thus causing it to overheat faster. Perhaps the error is due in part to the console overheating? Oh, and just a note, NEVER move the console while it's on, you'll destroy any disks inside. Trust me.

Thanks for the tip! I don't know how but my Xbox just freezes if I set it up horizontally :/
