Did you run the xp_rtp_es application yet? That's the last component that allows you to run RPG maker and in turn the game.

Well, do you have the RGSS102J.dll file in your Blake Turner folder? If not, then you need to download it and unzip it so that you can put it in the Blake folder.

There's something wrong with installing rpg maker.
I don't really know how to fix it :larry:

Ok... so here's the deal.
1.- Install "xp_rtp_es.exe"
2. You need certain plugins... They must be at the main folder.
    *RGSS100J.dll
    *RGSS102J.dll
Once you have them.
3. Unzip the .rar file "Blake Turner Ace Attorney" You'll get an .exe called "Project1.exe"
4. Click on "Project1.exe" to unpack the game.
5. Open folder "Project1"
6. Double click "Game.exe"
7. Enjoy

Uhh... I didn't think it would cause that much of trouble...!
But well, if it worked for most people, it means that the program itself works.
Now, about previous comments:
@Dragonclaw23: The save issue was kinda on purpose. Not that I prefer it that way, just that I couldn't do it any other way.
The portraits I had to choose between cutting the whole PW sprite, or zooming into their face. I chose the first one. It looks different to the rest... Well... That's subjective, but thanks for pointing it out. I'll take it in account

@Auraion: I fixed the controlling Blake and posted it again
The blue text... If it can be changed, I don't know how, because the colors come with the RPG Maker XP, and you just activate the color no. 1 of the database.

Thanks for playing!

Played the game, it was an enjoyable piece of fan creation even made in a very different kind of "trial" creator. It had some small grammar issues, but it was okay. Also...

@Scent: Thanks for the compliment. And, well, after the screen goes black it should only have said "Episode 1, The Unknown Turnabout - The end", but there was some bug that didn't show it. A small thing but well... I'm glad you liked it otherwise.

@DarkDigiDragon: I didn't use the Take That you sent me, I asked a guy who used to come to the forum to do the three voices for me. :S
BTW Thanks for the comment

An interesting case. I downloaded the first version and only tested it out before. I saw very few mistakes except the lack of graphics in the introduction until the CR Lobby comes in play. I.G make introductions good but are not needed if Introductions are short which yours isn't.

I was slightly annoyed by the lack of SFX for the majority of the first half, before Vadice or whatever his name is called to testify. Was there a reason why there is no blip noise for the textbox as well?

Also, it would be better if you could improve of some of the graphics as fantasy/medieval doesn't go well with Ace Attorney :p

Very good though. I really liked it :D

Wow, gonna take a while to answer this X3

First of all, the graphics in the intro would cause a HUGE spoiler to the game script. That's why I chose not to use them. It was really necessary, believe me.

I really didn't notice I used few SFX before the witness... It may be true... I'll have to check that.

Then, the bleeps of the letters I chose not to use them (maybe this contributed to the "lack of SFX") because when I tried them, they sounded very VERY close to each other and it was tremendoulsy annoing. I couldn't fix that because I'm no scripter so I chose to take them out.
I changed various graphics, like Blake's body, and chose characters for the jury that didn't look so medieval. Are you referring to the building or the people?

Well, thanks for the critics, I always find them useful when they are polite and well structured, like yours. Glad you liked it even with all those problems =D

Hm, well, could you shorten the introduction then? Its a bit too long and I thought that my computer couldn't see the GFX properly until it finally ended and the lobby faded into view.

Yeah- a lot of the emotions Blake is feeling don't have matching SFX in the lobby and trial former.

I'm referring to both the building and people. It still looks a bit medieval for me.

You find this to be polite and well structured? XD. I rushed this crit but I really enjoyed Case 1. Also, I just remembered something. Blake faces Phoenix a few times in the CE statements when you cycle through them :payne: He should be facing Payne.

Yes, you're right. I'll pay more attention to sounds next time. Also I'll make introductions more thrilling.

I'll also look for less medieval-like graphics. And the facing... Well... I saw it coming, as I couldn't focus into putting everywhere to face left all the time. That's my mistake... It was due to scatterbrainness... If that word exists...

And yes, compared to other comments in this forum I found that one quite pleasant. It was polite yet honest. I like that. Well, keep the critics coming, I have to make a good case 2!

I'm looking for co-writers who can help me plan the next cases: circumstances of the murder, culprit, defendant, background story, contradictions, etc.

If anyone has any free time, I'd be very grateful to ask for their imaginations and help me think the two cases I need.
Thank you!

Well, I still need a lot of ideas for these two cases. I have now the plot of the second case but I still need the murder plot and all that. I also have to make the whole case 3, so I need all the help I can get from anyone that has time.

UPDATE!

I'm officially starting the second case of this fangame. *applause*
It's been a while, and this thread has sunk quite a lot, but all that time was used for script planning and school.

On other news, I'm recruiting any people who want to lend a hand, however small.
The people currently helping me are denerop (Co-Writer, Voice Actress and Artist), Auraion (Co-Writer) and SimontheDigger (Voice Actor, no longer in CR)

Any of these will be of great help:
  • Co-Writers
  • Artists (for screenshots and other stuff)
  • Demo Testers (for when I actually have something)

So far I'm fine with Programmers and Voice Actors, but any of the above will come in really handy. :sawit:

PS: Sorry for Double Post! :payne:

Hmm... Many people had this same problem, but it worked out in the end. I don't know whether they had Vista or XP, though.
But, I must ask... Did you download both RPG Maker XP files? (the program and the plugin) and put them in the same folder? If you don't do that, it won't run. After downloading that, you must download the game. Three things in total.
If this doesn't work out, tell me and we will try to make it work somehow.

Finished playing the demo, and I found it to be quite enjoyable. It was funny to see the courtroom full of little people and I found the unraveling of the mystery quite fun.

My thoughts:
Spoiler:
1. The grammar. While not totally bad, there were many, many spelling and grammatical errors. Nothing too big. For example, the space between a period and the the next sentence is left out, or the wrong verb is used ('wears' her blood? I think you mean 'bears')

2. I was almost 90% certain the witness would be the killer, so I was happily surprised by the ending. I mean, the guy specifically had his eyes checked the day after the murder just to prove he was capable of witnessing the crime. Future story hint about some grudge between Vadice and Egnever?

3. Egnever. Hoo boy, where do I start with this guy. I mean, could he BE any more mysterious? He barely says three words to you, he claims to have been injured by 'robbers' the day before the murder (just cause a police report was filed doesn't mean that's the whole truth), and Phoenix seemed to expect him to say something at the end. I'm guessing he's a major character?

4. That little Von Karma dialogue at the beginning of the case, what was the point? None of the events of that conversation came up in this case. Now, I'm sure it's important later on in the game, but the whole conversation just seems out of place in this case. (Note: I can't wait to see what kind of character she'll be. I mean, Miles AND Franziska's OLDER sister?!? Hoo boy, that's scary.)

5. I noticed you made note that Phoenix regained his badge, meaning this takes place after Apollo Justice. Sooooo, where's Apollo? I kinda expected (or rather, am still expecting), him to show up eventually, at least as Blake's colleague. He could even be the co-council for a case, seeing as Diego was for Mia, and Apollo is technically his senior.

But I must say good job! The logic and flow of the case was fun to decipher. I'm excited to see the next cases! And, if you still need co-writers or testers, I don't mind helping out.

Well, not bad, i'm not a fan with the "rpg-like" courtroom, but your game is interesting enough to make me overlook that ^^

Now

Spoiler:
1-It may be nit-picking, and i'm not a specialist about colors, but payne's suit is rather a variant of yellow than green in my opinion.
2- Well, the red text in this image will do the talk : p
Image
3- The "purple like" lines of text are quite difficult to read (already said earlier in this topic ^^)
4- When payne submit the overhead map, it just feal out of place. After all, the testimony is about a scream at the moment. Wouldn't it better to submit it when he state that he saw the little girl fell over the hill ? Or before, between the testimony and the cross examiantion ?
5 - I found blake's objection a little annoying :'(
6 - Your game will be much better with some proof-reading, some sentences are weird ^^

Anyway, the whole idea is great, the only thing that's strange is the way the doors open, it's quite uncommon. And it's even weirder when the 2 doors open the same way ^^

I first installed RPG Maker XP and then extracted the plugin in the same map.
Afther that i also extracted the game in the same map.
And also tried launching the game extracted in an other map (so not in the same directory as the RPG maker.)
Do you have and idea what is should try next?

If that doesn't work, it seems RMXP doesn't work properly in Vista. I'll ask around the people who played it if they had Vista or not. By now, I can think of only one solution. Click properties in the RPG Maker XP icon, and look for something that says something like "compatibility", and select "Windows XP".
If that doesn't work, I'll try to find some other solution. :jake:

Actually, you can play the game with Vista, but running the gamemaker itself is going to crash. I've tried it several time to run RPGMakerXP.exe but it crashes every single time.

Hmm... Well, I guess I was overconfident about my English, and didn't do any proof-reading. As you may know, I'm from Argentina, and I'm only 16, but well, I guess that's not an excuse for having bad spelling. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hehe, thanks. Yeah, the idea is for you to suspect him, as a only witness in a first case. I also made it quite suspicious, but in the end it wasn't him. I'm glad the effect I wanted to transmit was... Well... Transmited :P

This is exactly like the prologue in 2-1. You find out what it has to do with the plot in the last case. I have already received critics about it, and sorry if it was tedious. But you'll find out soon enough its relevance.
Hehe, yeah, I can't wait until I make that trial >=D

I... Haven't thought about that. It's true, actually. Apollo SHOULD appear. Luckily, it's not too late. I can still make him appear in the next case, or I can say he's abroad or something like that, because I had already thought of a sidekick.

...That might very well be true. Yeah, I think the map came up quite randomly and out of topic.

I already talked with the guy and he is going to audition again. Sorry about that.

Hehe, yeah. I was so excited about finishing the demo that I forgot to do that. I owe the mistakes to my... "Hispanity", but the lack of corrections have no excuse.

Anyway, the whole idea is great, the only thing that's strange is the way the doors open, it's quite uncommon. And it's even weirder when the 2 doors open the same way ^^.

Yeah, about the doors, I did it for the plot's sake. I didn't think it'd strike as weird so much though.

OK, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked it even with all those errors :acro:

Note: My computer broke down recently, so you won't be seeing many updates for a while. :larry:

Oh, I thought no one would ever comment on this thread again until I updated.
I've suspended this game because I can't run the program on Windows 7, but as soon as I get Windows XP (and have free time) I'll go on.
Well, the only thing that makes this be a M game is the fact that the victim is underaged, and there are a few bad words. Further, there's nothing related to "that".
Glad you're intrested! Looking forwards to your comments!

Ah, long time no see, Court Records. Hiya, I'm back after a LONG time, and really excited about GS5, enough that it will make me buy a 3DS. Now, I've shown my game to friends, and they've encouraged me a lot, making me want to go on with it. So I've started the second case from scratch, made a whole new prologue to it, and I'm just missing the murder situation to go on with it. The plot and motives are all thought up, and it will be related to a character introduced in Trials and Tribulations, as you will realize in said prologue. So, if I get any responses here, I'll gladly update what I have of case 2, and if any newcomers wish to play Case 1, they can simply ask and I'll re-upload it with less bugs and typos, hopefully none. My grammar has improved along these years, albeit not flawless yet.
So, that's pretty much it. I really wonder if anyone is even intrested in this game anymore, but only time will tell.

'till next time.

Oh, I remember this!

Kinda found it sad that a project like this wasn't completed... I should probably get around to replaying this...
That one guy from AAO that made about a dozen cases that all kinda go off the deep end and fall apart at one point or another.

Hey, could you re-upload the game, since Megaupload no longer exists, due to it being shut down by the FBI or something like that, most people on this website use Mediafire if i'm not mistaken...so try re-uploading it there, I'd like to play it, sounds like it has potential, I havent seen anyone else try an Ace Attorney Investigations game on this website yet

I have uploaded it to Mediafire, but it is an older version, so it will still have most typos, please don't mind them.
Ace Attorney Investigations is a bit misleading, I have to say. The investigation is third person, yes. And you move around with the arrow keys and talk to people, etc. But it does have trials, so it's a bit of both gameplays mashed together. I hope you enjoy it.

Instructions
-Unzip everything
-Install rtp, it's in Spanish but don't mind it.
-Double click the sun icon with the arrows, called like the game.
-Check where it was extracted, and run it.
The controls are explained in-game. Use enter or spacebar to go to next messages.
Please give feedback, and have fun!

I think you should post some pics of the game, to get an idea of how the game looks.

The different pics are along the comments of the thread, I didn't put them in the first post. I guess I should go ahead and do so.

I finished the demo, it was ok and the writing was decent. I prefer the court segments of other engines like Pywright, but, that's why you have to focus more on the investigation part of the game, that is what will make the game shine if you do it right. I think your next demo should focus on that, because that is what will make your game different than the others.
