Still, I haven't really played the other MGS games, so I really can't comment on the plot.

I managed to get the first MGS game for £1.50 in a charity shop near where I live, and out of 5 of my friends and me, who have all played the MG and MGS games, I was the only one to actually understand the MGS4 plot.

I've already played MG (NES), MGS (Gameboy Color) and MGS (Gamecube).
Except it was never started with Nintendo. That and everything on Nintendo isn't cannon(Though MGS/MG:GB is good and MGS:TS I never played) Although if it was for the 2nd MG game on the NES we probably wouldn't have any other MG/S ever.

Edit: But seriously, I have played MGS 1-4. I like Soliton radar (I felt blind going into MGS 3)
It's pretty cool. Raiden and Drebin in MGS 4 are epic awesome. c: I even did a MGS meme on deviantart (it's from back when I first got a tablet so it's slightly crappy)

I love MGS4 and if I get the upcoming Nintendo3DS I'll definitely get the MGS3 remake.
Also looking forward to Rising.
