A fangame made using PyWright... or PWlib. ...I dunno yet.

THE STORY

3 months have passed since the arrest of Kristoph Gavin. "Apollo Justice" is slowly becoming a well known name. Apollo is continuing his career and Phoenix's name has finally be cleared after seven long years. In his Apollo's first case since Kristoph was taken down, all is well. Just another normal case... or so it seemed. But sadly, things were about to take a turn... for the interesting.

After the courtroom is plunged into complete and utter chaos, Apollo finds himself uncouncious. A few hours later, Apollo awakens... in a whole different world. Now Apollo finds himself in a whole new office with a man who calls himself his mentor by the name of... Miles Edgeworth!?

Now all Apollo wants is to go back home... but that is easier said then done. Now it's up to Apollo Justice to prove clients innocent, find out what's going on, and beat the most ruthless prosecutor of all... Phoenix Wright.

THE CHARACTERS

Spoiler: Characters. Possible spoilers for the game? Maybe
Apollo Justice - A rookie attorney with 4 wins under his belt. When his latest trial turns into chaos, he finds himself uncouncious and eventually awakens... in a different universe. Now all he wants is to go home!

Trucy Wright - Phoenix's daughter and Apollo's assistant. A magician. Assists Apollo in case one.

Klavier Gavin - Prosecuting rockstar in charge of case one.

Nate Portent - A doctor working at a mental home. Defendant in case one.

George Alter - A man suffering from multiple personality disorder. Witness in case one. Often switches personalities on the stand much to Apollo's annoyance.

Miles Edgeworth - Well known defense attorney in this new universe. Apollo's mentor, apparently.

Phoenix Wright - Used to be a talentless piano player, but in this universe, he's a vicious prosecutor who will do almost anything to get a guilty verdict.

Ema Skye - Used to be a grumpy detective, now a 16 year old girl who loves science. Becomes Apollo's assistant after case 2.

THE CASES

*Case 1: Turnabout Persona - It's been 3 months after Kristoph's arrest and Apollo is back in the game. Now he's defending a doctor accused of murdering somebody in an alley near a mental institution. The case that propels Apollo into a new world? How? Not gonna reveal that... yet. Don't wanna give out to much.

*Case 2: Warped Turnabout - Apollo wakes up in an office he's never seen before. After checking it out, he is confronted by a man who calls himself his mentor. A man named... Miles Edgeworth!? After finding some things out from his "mentor", Apollo runs out of the office to find out where he is. Apollo tries to take all of this in... but a loud crash breaks his concetration. He looks up... and much to his horror, he sees a dark haired woman pushed out of the High Prosecutor's office. Now Apollo must defend Ema Skye for the murder of her older sister, Lana and go up against perfect prosecutor, Phoenix Wright.

*Case 3: Turnabout University - A week has passed since the last case. Apollo is still trying to figure out what he's doing here and how he's going to get out... but all that is going to have to wait when Ema drags him to Ivy University for a scientific seminar. Apollo eventually ends up losing Ema, and wanders into the middle of a different seminar where Detective Dick Gumshoe is speaking to the students studying in Criminal Justice. After talking to the detective, Apollo leaves and eventually finds Ema. But just as the two are about to leave, a scream is heard. Apollo and Ema run into a nearby science class... to find a science teacher killed from chemical burns... and a certain detective in front of the body.

*Case 4: A Twist of Fate and Turnabout - A cold christmas night on Gourd Lake... two men in a boat... a shot pierces the silence. Police arrive at the lake to discover that Phoenix Wright has murdered a man he's never met... a magician... named Zak Gramarye.

*Case 5: Dawning of Veracity - Half planned, but details are being witheld.

PROGRESS REPORT

*8/29/2010: Game page made. Case 1 almost fully planned out, will work on script soon. Have most of the sprites, need Defense Aid Edgeworth, Front View Edgeworth, Prosecutor Phoenix court and front views. Working on Phoenix.

NEW FEATURES

*Perplex Percieve - An interesting thing to note is that Apollo doesn't have his bracelet in this universe, so his senses aren't as sharp. Now Apollo can't focus as carefully. How it works: Usually during investigations, Apollo will still notice something off. You can then enter Perplex Percieve mode. The person being percieved will testify. This lasts normally about... 6 statements. You then have to examine the testimony for nervous twitches. Be careful though. Small penalties will be given if you screw up.

*Evidence Disposal - Comes into play during Case 3. At certain points in the trial, Apollo must dispose of at least 3 pieces of evidence that are no longer of use. This will both make room in the court record and make the game harder, because I am an evil mastermind :karma:

WHAT I NEED

*Programing help
*Voices (Further info to be released later)
*Certain sprites (PM if interested)
*Good gamemaker (Deciding between PyWright or PWlib)

Spoiler: Male voices needed. Only look if interested. Contains spoilers.
Klavier Gavin - Hold it! Take that! Gotcha!

Gregory Edgeworth - Objection! Hold it!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that is it so far. I've been waiting for the right time to announce this, and I figured I'd finally make it public in honor of my 100th post. I've actually been working on this for quite a while. Well, tell me what you think, how I can improve, if you're interested in helping, stuff like that. Thanks for reading about the project. I really hope I can make this happen!

This sounds like quite the idea. I'm looking forward to seeing how you execute as it has a lot of potential. It reminds me of two games - Remnants of the Past and Miles Edgeworth: Alternative Attorney (AAO) combined together which is great. :)

Perplex Perceive sounds very interesting. It's also a good idea for not using perceive sprites since they're incredibly hard to make. :(

My favourite of the two has to be Evidence Disposal. It's a very interesting idea and I can see it being pulled off in all of the released case makers so far (PWlib, PyWright and AAO). Just with this feature, it raises the difficulty level of the case. I am either going to love or hate it when it's implemented. :karma:

Anyway, good luck with this game. I'm afraid I can't be of much assistance to you for anything due to the fact I have my own fangame to work on but I'll be constantly checking this thread and following the project like I do with Cardy's. ;)

A small bit of advice for you is that when you choose your casemaker, think of what each can offer you and if the features you want to include are present or can be developed very easily. :)

Evidence Disposal, hmmm, that's going to be very difficult to implement, what if the right evidence was taken away, then how will it affect the game? It sounds like you would have to create branching scenarios which would be quite confusing to code. But very interesting nonetheless.

If you are going for PWLib, prepare yourself for many frustrating moments, better ask those questions if you are planning on using PWLib. PWLib is very great in it's near-perfect emulation especially graphically. Some things to note, also noted in PWLib, CROSS-EXAMINATIONS are difficult to make, but there is an easier way to implement them. I suggest looking at DDRKhat's Case 1-1 and YggdrassilSword's (sp?) Damion Shard game which I used to organize how I do my cross examinations.

I'm not going to jump into the flamewar, only saying that I like and use PyWright (and in fact am helping Saluk improve it), so I can be of programming assistance there. Additionally, I can do some voice stuff.

There's no flamewar and not a problem, to me personally, I couldn't care less what you use (AAO, PWLib, PyWright, etc.) as long you (as the artist) are able to present what you want to show. Also I do not tolerate casemaker elitism (what's better and what's not), I'm very aggressive when it comes to that. Same thing to compare Photoshop vs GIMP, they have their uses and purposes, it's up to the person to be able to adapt and show a level of presentation.

I could only state what I know from experience (and through both objective and subjective perspectives), mainly PWLib and gave him a short pro/con list to go with it. I was actually hoping to see a experienced PyWright user to give their input to help the author in deciding what is right for himself.

Well, I did some studying and I think PYwright is the easiest to use, works to my advantage just fine, and can help me make a great final product.

In other news, I'm accepting programing help and I'll update the first post to include further info on Perplex Percieve and needed voices soon. Thanks for helping and giving feedback!

Is Gregory going to defend Wright on court? What about Edgey? Is he gonna be the prosecutor or Greg's co-council? In this universe, does Edgeworth acknowledge Wright as a friend?

Spoiler:
Edgeworth will be defending Phoenix in the first day of trial with Gregory as co-council. The prosecutor... is gonna be kept a secret. As for the last question, think about this. Edgeworth and Phoenix have switched roles entirely. Now instead of Phoenix wanting to help Edgeworth, it's the other way around. So, yeah. Edgeworth sees him as a friend who's lost his path.

Double rainpost all the way across the skyyyyyy

Well, school is back in session. So my posts here and updates on this game will become scarce. I wanna focus more on my work this year, so I'm cutting my internet time. But to show the project isn't dead, have a little present.

Spoiler: A look at things to come

...No, I don't know how to make the background transparent.

If you're using GIMP then go to Layer, Transparency, Add Alpha Channel, select the object that looks like a wand, select something and press delete.

Bad news: Sound no longer works on my computer, so voice auditions are on hold. Sorry.

But! For every bit of bad news... comes good news!

TAKE THAT! I present... Case 3 of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney: Tower to The Truth!

*Case 3: Turnabout University - A week has passed since the last case. Apollo is still trying to figure out what he's doing here and how he's going to get out... but all that is going to have to wait when Ema drags him to Ivy University for a scientific seminar. Sucks for your computer :(.

I gotta say, that case synopsis is interesting (and that may be me liking science stuff) and well written. Hope to see more later on :D

Oh hai game

Yes, I'm back. This isn't dead and I refuse to let it die. But now for bad news.

My computer is gone and it won't be back anytime soon. And it took everything with it. So, not only do I have to wait to get back to the project, but I have to do some stuff over again.

But don't worry. Once I get a new computer, this game WILL be back! Thanks to those supporting the project!
