Eh, The Specter's Flute Theme starts cool, I love the piano intro but the rest is too salsa-like and messy for my taste. I loooooove Lost Future Theme though. Kind of... jazzy?

I think everyone is forgetting the incredible ending themes from the second, third, and fourth games.
It's such a shame they didn't attempt dub them into English. They're so much prettier when they're sung...

But the violin in the second game's ending theme just tugs at my heartstrings and the third game's piano theme sounds quite good. Really, sung or instrumented the themes are good.

The accordian, piano and violin in Shiwase no Hako are all beautiful. The guitar also adds an interesting tone. Also the reversing sounds around the end are pretty cool too.
The vocals aren't bad, but the chorus sounds a bit wierd IMO.

The other themes are nice but I prefer the second one over all. Maybe they'll grow on me though.

I haven't heard the ending themes for the 3rd or 4th yet... (I think I'll keep it that way til I play them too, I think they'd make more of an impact if I heard them right at the end ^_^)

On a related note, I'm learning Professor Layton's Theme on the piano
....
It's hard XD

Got a couple of relatively high-res boxarts:

Spoiler: Professeur Layton et le Destin Perdu (French)
Image

Spoiler: Professor Layton und die verlorene Zukunft (German)
Image

IIRC, my predictions were "Professeur Layton et le Perdu Future" for French, and "Professor Layton und die Verloren Zukunft" for German. So I slightly missed the French one, and hit the German one on the head, except for an "e" and capitalization.
Also, I've seen some trailers, and:
a) Spanish version is "El Profesor Layton y el Futuro Perdido", like I predicted,
b) Italian version is "Il Professor Layton e Il Futuro Perduto" (I predicted "Il Professor Layton e lo Futuro Perduto", so I just missed the articles), and
b) at least the Spanish, French, German and Italian versions will be absolutely dubbed. And that is amazing.

Ohhh, making the dog in CV was so irritating. I always ended up not getting the last gizmo piece until the very end of the game, when the feckin' dog was rendered ABSOLUTELY USELESS. It's always the really easy-to-spot hidden puzzles that get me (on my last playthrough, the last puzzle that I found was puzzle number TEN. SERIOUSLY. FREAKIN' TEN.)

What did you name your dog/hamster? I called my hamster Gumshoe, then immediately heard its accent and realized how sadly inappropriate it was.

Don't remember what I named my dog, but I named my hamster Slugkid, which is how my best friend calls himself online. I heard the chubby-gangster voice, and I couldn't help but laugh. He did too.

I wonder what kind of creature I'm naming in Unwound Future...

I named my gizmo dog Missile, my Hamster was Pudge, and I'm still not sure what I'll name the Parrot. Maybe Legal to fill the void of a nickname they wouldn't DARE mention in the game.

AND THAT TRAILER MANNNN <3 I love it so much. SO. MUCH. Claire's giggle was absolutely adorable x3

I ended up naming my dog Daisuke, not sure why just like the name.

The hampster I named Mikan, which is a type of Japanese citrus fruit. I like it because it sounded cute and also because of the food connection I guess.

And that trailer is nice. :phoenix:

I named my dog LaytonJr and my hamster LilScooter (I don't know why).

On the topic of the trailer, I can't wait 8 more days! Plus deduction time with cool voice acting, a standard for every Professor Layton game.

Now that you mention voice-acting, am I the only one that found this trailer's voices a bit off? Maybe it was because of the music playing in the background, but the voices sounded somehow faint to me. It was still the same awesome voice-acting that the main characters have had since day one, but, I don't know, it sounded strange.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Can't wait to play it, story looks wonderful!

I know they're probably just rendered cinematics but still those look awesome, I wish there was a Professor Layton anime. It would be worth watching.

Is it just me, or did the music in the trailer kind of remind anyone of the AJ Credits music?

I just saw a commercial for Professor Layton on TV! XD I was listening to my regular music with headphones and suddenly I hear puzzle music... I had a little spaz attack when I saw the television screen because I rarely see commercials for games I play on TV.

That trailer looks epic. I really can't wait until Unwound Future comes out in like...8 days.

I've been seeing that commercial recently, it was pretty funny when I saw it for the first time.

During the first time I saw it, the TV was just in the background when the "puzzle music" played, at first I thought another company used the music to advertise their own products. XD
I looked at the screen, and laughed, although I find it weird how Curious Village and Diabolical Box is being advertised, instead of the upcoming title.

Perhaps they don't think many of us have played the first two, so they have to make sure we do before advertising the third? XD

Ahah, I haven't seen a Lost/Unwound Future trailer yet but when Pandora's Box came out they were all over the place - they had a small advert in the newspaper that gave out a puzzle every day for about a week XD. In England there are still trailers for Professor Layton one and two all over the Underground (or subway, as some strange people call it).

Professor Layton is the only game I've played that I've ever seen commercials for off the Internet (not counting casual games like the Sims or whatever). Maybe it's just more easy to market - FEED YOUR CHILDREN PUZZLES AND THEY WILL BECOME SMART =D

I don't know what do you think, but when I hear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr8-E8may2Y i just can't stop imagining Sammy singing it.

When i first saw Anton (in some Youtube's video) I was sure it's a girl. Funny jumping like in modern 3D pc games. Still I can't believe it's not true.

I called the mechanic dog 'Banana' and the hamster 'Cucumber' :3

God, I'm so hyped for this game, yesterday I downloaded the OSTs for the first 3 games, and every day at school, next to the date, I write how many days are left 'til PLatUF (I spell that "plaht-oof". Heh) in the States, and Last Window in Europe.
For example, today, September 7, I wrote "[ -5 // -10 ]". And I'm damn proud I did.

I love the professor layton games. Played both the first and second one and just patiently waiting for them to release the third one. Can't wait.

I just love the characters and their accents, the environments, the clever puzzles, the rich music and even the story. The in game cinematics are great for the nintendo DS too.

I hope you Americans are happy... Only 3 more days for you. ;___; nnnnfgh I HATE WAITING

I love how Layton sounds a bit angry when he says "someone here is the mastermind behind this scheme, and that someone is them" at the end of the new trailer. Because the plot is more personal for him this time.

Or you go and import the game. =P That's what I did with the ace attorney games. I hate waiting and the DS can run american games anyway.

You could also buy a flashcard, but I don't know whether discussion of that is allowed here.

The American logo looks loads better with the European logo looking like an advertisement for Professor Layton's Fantastical Circus. Boxart wise the US one looks epic with a slightly determined Layton while EU gets the certain style that I am fond of.

Boxart aside only 3 MOAR DAYS and I can't stop playing Professor Layton music while browsing the interwebs.

EDIT: Heh heh, just noticed on the clock in the US logo it is 3 o' clock, get it 3! :hotti:
