Let's try this out. Basically, this will serve as a topic where people may discuss what games they are thinking about buying and others that have played them can tell them their opinions on said game. This can also serve as a topic where you can discuss video games that you'd highly recommend others to try out. For the most part, I would like to try to keep out games like Pokemon and such as we have topics for those already.

So basically, I've been thinking about wanting to get a new RPG for my DS and I have been thinking about getting Radiant Historia and I was wondering if it'd be a worthwhile purchase or not.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

It's a fun game. Going between two alternate timelines is nice change compare to the same timeline and just changing the past. One problem I have is it only has the two and any other branches mostly ends in a bad end. Battle system is kind of different. You can push the enemies around into one pile. I say go for it.

I actually just finished the game. I'd say go for it; the time travel aspect is neat and the story, while predictable, is pretty well-done and enjoyable. Battles will probably start to drag after a little while since you're stuck with the same three or four characters for the first few chapters, but once you start getting your whole party and some hidden skills they become much more fun. The difficulty is also pretty well-balanced; I hit a Game Over several times, but it never felt cheap.

I'm trying to find a puzzle game that isn't too hard isn't too easy. It has to be for DS, Wii, or PS3. Don't say Layton. And it has to be kid appropite. Like an E10 rating or E.

Ghost Trick is a good one for the DS, it's a little difficult at times but it's not the same level as Layton. It does involve death, but it's not a dark topic in the game.

And that list is... what exactly?

(Also no offense, but whatever that list is, it's pretty boring ~_~ The only interesting thing on there is Tactics Ogre)

Anyway, if anyone has anything to say about any of these games......

Shin Megami: Devil Survivor
FF Tactics
Disgaea
Threads of Fate
Wild ARMs
Xenogears
Brave Fencer Musashi
Oddworld
The Granstream Saga
Vagrant Story
Cave Story
Arc Rise Fantasia
Mana Series
The Longest Journey
Radiant Historia
Scrapland
Shadow of Memories

Spoiler: If you want an explanation...
So, there are a lot of video games I want to play. Like, a lot. So many that my tiny little brain can't keep track of them all! So I have a handy little word file on my computer that has all the games I want to play at some point. I see an interesting-looking game, check it out a bit, and add it to the list if it looks good.

However... things are not perfect in this video-game-list-world. You see, believe or not, there are some games where 5 seconds of research is not enough to decide if I want to play the game! And... this is the list of games. So if we're having a recommendation thread, well, this is prolly the best place to post :P

BP --> Can't make a long reply right now XD, but I'll talk about Disgaea :3

Very fun games, definitely recommend them. It's a TBS, though te way you battle ends up being more like a chess game. You select ten characters and have them move around a giant grid to take out enemies. You have your "main" characters" that play a part in the story of course; however, you are also allowed to purchase other characters to fight on your team. At the end of each battle, you gain mana. You can then purchase any type of character (eg. thief, warrior, magic knight, skull, mage, etc.) and based on how much mana you have, you can give them better base stats. After you purchase a character, they have 6 tiers you have to unlock by leveling them up, and then, when they unlock the next tier, you may pay mana to reincarnate them into their stronger form.

Compared to other RPGs, Disgaea games are quite complicated. During battle you can stack people, throw people, combine special attacks for huge bonuses, etc. The game is also much lighter at heart and much more comical - if you're OK with this, expect breaking the fourth wall and cheesy sup-plots. However, because of this - to me, anyways - the game is easy to pick up and definitely enjoyable. The only thing I could warn you about is the game is quite linear - don't expect to explore towns, or anything of the sort. You can only move onto the next stage after completing the previous one.

All in all, Disgaea is a great and very enjoyable game series, and the style is one that you won't find anywhere else. <3

It's a list of video games, but what are these video games?

Games you recommend, or *gulp* ones you want recommendations for?

Oh, and what I meant by the only interesting game on Tactics Ogre is that pretty much single game on that list except Tactics Ogre is already pretty well-known and generally accepted as good, and thus shouldn't really need a recommendation >_>

If it's for DS, just play it.

More seriously taken:
If you like RPG's, turn based RPG's with bit niches in them,
awesome story, cool musics and that kinda stuff; play Radiant Historia.

I mean it guys. :lana:

Shin Megami: Devil Survivor
Kind of different then the other SMT stuff. It's fun. Battles are kind of different in you only need to kill the middle dood. I wait for hte 3DS version though

FF Tactics
I only played a little and it's ok I guess. I just not got into it

Disgaea
They are great games. More like easy mode for SRPGs and for those who like grinding and huge ass numbers

Threads of Fate
Don't know I haven't played the PSN version yet and never did get the PSX version. I think it good I guess

Wild ARMs
Xenogears
Brave Fencer Musashi
Oddworld
The Granstream Saga
Never played or knew about any of above

Vagrant Story
Great game, fun too. I remember getting this for my b-day with Legend of Dragoons. I just don't like the weapon system(I suck at it)

Cave Story
Very fun side scrolling game. I wait for the 3Ds version but you can get the DSi/Wiiware version if you want.

Arc Rise Fantasia
Haven't played it yet. Hear VA sucks but still a great game

Mana Series
The Longest Journey
Never played/heard

Radiant Historia
Read above post

Scrapland
never heard of it

Shadow of Memories
aka Shadow of Destiny in US is a great game. It's like AA in that there is no action bit and it was a great impulse buy for me. I want the psp version but waited for a price down..still need to get it.

btw for buy 2 get 1 free sale at BB or Amazon I wonder if it's worth it. Can't think of anything for it. the Shadow of the Damned(love SH music) and naughty bear looks good but can't think of a free game or a 2nd game. How much different is Mini Ninja on the DS compare to the main system ones?

Well, I was playing this game the other day called Phoenix Wrigh-*shot*
In all seriousness, I enjoyed both Portals. They weren't too difficult but they provided a challenge. AND they were hilarious! =D
Assassin's Creed follows closely behind. Wait until Revelations comes out rather than buying Brotherhood. By then they should have fixed the bloody multiplayer..! The singleplayer system is fantastic though, and looks like it's really improved with Revelations (out 15th Nov), complete with bombs, Assassins you can train up to become what Ezio became at the end of AC2 and Istanbul as your personal playground.
Lastly, I'd recommend Brink. It's singleplayer isn't very good but the multiplayer is damn awesome. It reminds me of TF2 slightly but not free though a lot cooler!
That's about it. I'm tired.

I want to get into the Tales series, but I only have a GBA/DS. Where should I start? Also, would it be a good idea to get Tales of the Abyss for 3DS when it comes out, or would that be a bad intro to the series?

I'm looking for a good visual novel for the DS. Lux-Pain and Trace Memory, I've played. I've played a few more, but I can't remember them.

In terms of good RPGs, I find the Luminous Arc series isn't really brought up, despite the fact it has a pretty good plot, a battle system quite like FFT, and characters that will make you facepalm because they're so cheesy. The voice acting isn't bad, either. And you can send up to 8 units into battle (in No. 1), which is incredibly helpful. Unfortunately, it's not too good with the touch screen (in No1) and you will find yourself getting constantly annoyed, but despite that, it's good. Luminous Arc 2 is far better, with 2 different endings, a plot that twists and turns, bosses that are incredibly difficult, cool characters, and stuff. You can alternate between the touch screen and the control pad when in battle, and it has better music. Its Intermission is better, and the stories of the Kopin have a bottom screen where you can touch objects and they'll do fun stuff.

Phew. Yeah.

I was thinking about getting Brink, but I wasn't too sure. The customization looks awesome, but I don't know if I will like the multiplayer... decisions decisions...

Personally, I found Brink in the scale of FPS's to be very meh. While the customisation is quite cool, the game feels a little janky in places. For example, the free-running stuff isn't very precise, and that makes it very difficult for lightly-armored players to survive for long.

@BadPlayer If you have a PS3 and would be ok with it, I'd be happy to gameshare the first Oddworld with you. It really is an excellent little side-scroller, that while difficult, is still a very good PS1 game.

Also, thinking about picking up Yakuza 4 but I'd like some people's opinions on it.

World of Warcraft. The only problem being for some people is the price.

Edit: Ooops, I should have said more. Ok then...

Well, it is a brilliant game, and it is very immersive. It may be a bit boring at the start, but once you get into it, it's amazing. I'm no pro and I play occasionly, wheras there are a lot of die hard players out there. This shows that you don't need to be playing all the time to be good. Like I said, the price can be a no-no for some people, as it is around £8 a month. Also, it takes a very long time to actually get up and running. The first installation is pretty quick, but then it starts downloading all of the patches. For me it took around 4 days to install, it may very. (Also just checked the size of my WoW file, 25gig!!!)

If you are interested then it would be best to read a proper review, or watch a video about it, as I am not so good at describing games :')

If you haven't played it yet, 999 is a heck of a visual novel - with some decent escape-the-room gameplay mixed in.

Judge, Bolt, thanks for the recommendation. Just got this game today and it's pretty sweet.

Just gonna recommend a good party title game if you got a few friends and all to kill time with. Dokapon Kingdom, severely underrated RPG/Board game hybrid made by Atlus for the PS2/Wii. It's a fantastic 3rd party title and if you enjoy being a complete prick to your friends, this is the penultimate game to do so. It's quite silly and very addictive.
