I know, I know... The OC contest is over.. My OC would not have made it, anyway. People might have a bone to pick at with her background. >.> I do not remember who's face it was, but it was an OC, so I WILL give credit to that. o.o *nods* The hair and orange scarf I pixeled myself. And played around with Ema's shirt..

This was obviously my very first sprite I ever did. So I hope you can forgive me for the major flaws. >.>
Spoiler:
My OC:
Name: Lin (Liang Xiang) Mao. Or, Dr. Mao at work.
age: PW2: 27 PW3: 28
occupation: surgeon

Phoenix meets her and takes her in as his client when she is accused of malpractice. Her 18 year-old brother happening to be the very victim.

Check out my art thread if you wanna see my drawings of her. And if you wanna know more about her. I draw a lot better than I do at spriting... Sort of. =D

This is a sprite I did for a friend. I adore her OC and she's my RP buddy for any fandoms we do. In case you're wondering, yes, she's holding a mallet. It was a pain in the butt to draw by tablet.. And I pixeled the sleeves myself. So sorry if it fails. ~___~

Her name is Celadon Aurina Syti. (whutsupPokemon?!lol.) But we all call her Celi.
I AM working on a better version of that one. Her hair looks SO fake and even I know it. So no need for criticism on that part.. I am aware. I pixeled the ponytails myself.

There's not much you need to know about her except that she likes sweets.. and she uses a mallet for a weapon. O.O

update:
Takashi, from Ouran Host Club!
Spoiler:
Image

Since I failed at his school uniform so much... I'm ALSO going to post what he looked like when I worked on him. I thought he looked kinda good in Daian's clothes.. I'm contemplating on whether to use it as my avatar or not. =P
Image

It kinda goes with his wild-type- bit, don't you think, fellow Ouran Host club fans~?
Although now that I think about it.. He sure doesn't look 16-17 years old in these sprites. So I guess it wouldn't be possible to fully capture the Mori we all know. D=

Note: His hair was a pain in the butt for a while... *pixeled it by hand*

More to come soon. ..That is, if I feel like making more. XD

No ptoblem.

Also, with your first one, you can see part of the scraf by her arm. This should be kept, but it looks like a chunk is missing from the bottom (I would Save it on my compouter and use paint to point it out, but that takes too long). Or it looks like hair. Is there a reason or...?

Other than this fault, it is REALLY good.

*bows* Thanks for the kind compliment, Darzie. I must have OCD and tried to make sure this was as presentable as possible. I'm almost another von karma when it comes to spriting and drawing. I'm never fullly satisfied. But compliments make me wanna get even better. *lawl*

Ah, Lin's scarf. Yeah.. I did not like how it turned out. I might just think of ditching the scarf. since her stethoscope is enough of a decent accesory for her. Reason I used it was to hide the fact that I had to hide the blank spot as I got rid of Ema's bow/ribbon thingies. D=

I tried to make it look shorter than Lana's original scarf... It was hard trying to get the whole thing in there while using Ema's body. SO I just tried to draw the bottom (tail) part of it myself. Forgot to mention that. O_o

Well, I am in South Carolina (against my will) with no folder of sprites with me.. and No photoshop to edit with. I am contemplating on using paint.. but I really am afraid of using it.... since I always used Gimp or Photoshop so much. I think I need to stop being so reliant on it and give the dern pint a try, anyway. O_o

I will post some more sprites when I get home and in the comfort of my own computer. I got a hopefully slightly better version of Lin in the works. D=

The way to get better at pixel drawing is as follows:

A] Work at 4x magnification or more, and take your time.
B] get rid of jagged edges by using a pixel of the next lighter shade to the line at points where lines hit corners... I'm not sure how to explain this part properly.

Check out capcom's fighters - specifically the Street Fighter Alpha / VS series (as SF3 is a little too detailed, Darkstalkers use odd contrast lines at times and CvS uses flat almost watercolory sprites), for a great how-to on old school shading. Check out my sprite posted above and zoom in to see what I mean about jaggies - there are almost no lines with sharp corners.

Good luck! They're not bad for beginner's tries.

You've done a nice job on these, Mori! The only thing you're really lacking on the Ouran sprite is proper shading... The lines on the scarf in the first do need a bit of sharpening, and she needs to have her hair highlights placed differently... the ones on the bottom look unrealistic. Other than that, these are fantastic and well-made! Keep it up.

@ Serene: Hey, thanks so much! *bows* Yeah, it bugs me, too. I think it's either the way I drew her pig tails or it's where I places the highlights and shadings.... Or both. T.T

Hm.. Maybe I could randomly request you to make a better Celi sprite for me. You do colorful characters better than I could... heh heh heh.

Ami: Yeah, I need more practice on shading. And making their ponytails from scratch was not that fun..
Oh? Well, when I make Lin's sprite sheet, I'll consider that. The scarf bugs me, too... *twitch*

Thanks for stopping by. With more practice, they'll get better. =D
