While I doubt it's cancelled, it has been a little odd with the prototype delay and all.

In other news, rumors abound of a Megaman of some sort in Super Marvel vs. Capcom 3, courtesy ambiguous tweets by lupinko, the guy who's leaked various fighter rosters. In particular, a few point to Omega-Xis of Megaman Starforce - and while I would have no objection to him or Geo being in SMvC3, it would confirm my suspicion that I will never, ever understand Capcom's handling of the Mega Man games, given that Star Force has been dead for nearly two years now.

We should be getting Megaman Starforce 4/3D after they finish with Legends 3.

I wouldn't mind that, actually, but the Starforce games sold pretty poorly near the end, and SF3 was a pretty good conclusion to the series' storyline, even if they did have to drop a few characters (like Pat) altogether. It seems pretty unlikely to me.

Does this mean I have to buy a MvC game finally? Or do I keep waiting, hoping for certain characters?

And I hope it's either classic MM or X. X was cool.

Inafune made Mega Man awesome. Just sayin'.

I seriously never saw the appeal of Mega Man 10.

Well he made Mega Man and Mega Man is awesome so I guess that's true.
And yeah, I never saw the appeal either. For both 9 and 10. Paying for a game that's pretty short and has primitive game mechanics only to appease the massive amount of people nostalgic of Mega Man 2 never made much sense to me. I'm sure the games are decent, but I've never had much desire to get them.

Ehh. Never played 9, bought 10 and downloaded everything for it. You know, Bass, some extra levels, etc. Not the best game. Story's kinda dumb. Roboenza? At the time of swine flu? Pfffft.
Solar Man's an asshole. He's like Metal Man, as where Blade Man is like Quickman.

Metal Man is one of the easier robot masters I've fought. I actually thought 9 was good, it was silly, had some of the best power-ups in a Mega Man game that I've seen, and had a good soundtrack. To me, the only thing it's really missing is the slide. Honestly, it's one of my more liked games out of the series.

He is the easiest. Bubble Man in second, with Airman in third. "Airman ga taoenai" is obviously sung by a grass type Pomemon.

I'm confused as to why you'd compare him to Solar Man. =/ Personally, I find Cut Man or Galaxy Man to be the easiest for me. For me, I say Mega Man 3 or 4 is probably my favorite, though I may go with 3 if for the fact that I can easily do a no damage/buster only on Gemini Man. Yeah, it made me feel accomplished.

I meant it not in the "God help me I can't win!" sense, but in the "Why do you EXIST YOU'RE SO ANNOYING"
Hell, Metal Man is even weak to his own power. HIS OWN POWER.

We'd like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.

From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.

Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.

We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.

Well this was certainly unexpected. Although Capcom have been known for their strict financial guidelines, it seems this project would've flopped (according to them). But if they've had released this game along the eShop, they would've made some serious cash (I mean, a 3D Megaman game for $1.99, it's a MUSTBUY).

People had to get the 3DS the buy the PV, and that handheld alone cost a lot. And if I read correctly, they were going to sell it in the eShop.

OH, and we never did find out whether it had actually been green-lighted or not. For all we know, the game could've been green-lighted pre-cancellation, then later canceled for "not meeting requirements" of something else.

Just a theory, though. At this point, it really doesn't matter anymore.

...Care to explain exactly what you mean by that?

Anyway, yeah I am not pleased. At all. To be honest though I'm not very surprised. Ever since Inafune left it seemed like there were signs of this, I was just to optimistic to actually think they would do it. As angry as I am (resisting urges to nuke Capcom) I'm trying to still stay positive about the whole thing.
One funny thing, if I do go on to never buy another Capcom game that would include Ace attorney. Well they haven't exactly been handling that too well at the moment either so for now I'm not too worried. That, and I already bought Zero collection.

And for all of you who want to show your support, I ask that you read this. http://mmls.proboards.com/index.cgi?boa ... hread=4592
If you follow Protodude's blog or The Mega Man network, (Neither of which do I follow closely) than you've probably heard about this there. The two of them and Legends Station are going on a snail mail campaign. Well at the moment I don't have a better idea so I'm gonna go for it. Anyone else have thoughts on the matter?

What makes you think that? As far as I can remember, Comic Con isn't really Capcom's venue of choice for big announcements.

And about the cancellation of MML3, I'm not even mad. Just disappointed. It's like the feeling you get when you drift away from your elementary school friends in high school because of the opposing choices you make. You'd like it if they'd change their ways, but you know they're not going to.

In order to save myself any emotions, I think I'm just going to mostly ignore what Capcom has to say from now on.

And that's what's setting Capcom into a battle with the fans. Mega Man's basically the mascot for Capcom like Sonic for Sega or Mario for Nintendo, was one of its' highest-selling properties for a good while, and has numerous fans spanning generations in the 20th and 21th centuries. For Capcom to put down MML3, a game wanted dearly by fans (and by Inafune himself, if memory serves right) and created by fans, it's practically giving off the air that Capcom gives no shit about Mega Man at this point. And the fans aren't happy at all for this. MML3 was the sign that the franchise was still alive, and Capcom just nuked the life out of it by canceling it.

I also checked into the matter of Capcom at Comic Con this year, and while I can't post links at this point, I can say that Capcom will have a panel at Comic Con this year. (Capcom Unity retweeted a tweet mentioning their panel on Twitter.) So, chances are that MML3 will be brought up in some form.

(Also, long-ass Wii-made post FTW.)

Bullshit. It wasn't even a month ago that Capcom borderline threatened us with dropping the project if the demo didn't sell enough, then they go "Nevermind, we're not even going to bother releasing the demo to see how well it does, game's cancelled." We didn't even get the CHANCE to support the game. And since Capcom themselves aren't giving us a real reason why MML3 was cancelled, the only possible explanation I can come up with is that they'd rather just churn out another version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Street Fighter IV than bother putting some actual work into a new game.

Capcom of Europe's expressions are independent of Capcom of America's and Japan's. Heck, CoE had little to do with the project. The "head-honchos of the project were America and Japan. Europe's branch wasn't administrating all those fan submissions America and Japan were receiving. And if they thought fans were gonna buy a 3DS once the eShop was released, then they were smoking pot. Who's going to buy a $250 console with several eyesight/head problems for a $1.99 game (and that's not counting the fact that the 3DS has a pretty weak selection of game ((for now))).

Right now, Nintendo fans are waiting that the mobile consoles gets a stronger library (which should take six months).

Yea, I'm done with Crapcom for now. There is only one way to redeem themselves, and that would be localizing AAI2 and PW vs PL. And we know THAT isn't going to happen. They never listen to fans. Hell, ever since AA came out on the App Store, people have been begging for the other two games to be localized. It's been, what, four to five years now?

Capcom is just being the Nickelodeon of gaming.
