It's true that this is the result of the earthquake, but this is Capcom we're talking about. One of the most notorious game companies known for exploiting their fans and franchises to make a profit. I believe Mega Man is a conspiracy. Cancel MMU and MML3 and the fans will shout in protest. Ignore his inclusion in Ultimate Marvel and the fans will demand blood. Announce him as DLC further down the road and the fans will cry/bitch/moan/scream about the idea, but they will all buy him sooner or later.

Do you really think a company would do so much to anger its fans just in the hopes they can draw them back later? The events of the past few days have badly damaged their reputation among some fans, and an "apology" DLC character down the line wouldn't be nearly enough for most fans - especially if said fans refuse to buy the game in the first place, as I've seen quite a few fans vow.
(Blast, I ran out of appropriate bubbles. Somehow, "Gotcha" and "Eureka" just didn't seem right. And funnily enough, there's no official "Overruled" bubble...)

I wouldn't have mind Mega not being in this game that much if Capcom hadn't screwed him over so badly.
But besides that, seriously, he's your mascot. That would be like not having Mario in Super Smash Bros. Brawl 4, it's just not the same.
Ah well, Phoenix is in, so that makes me a (semi) happy Final.

Since the roster is based on fan votes he wasn't ranked very high thus he wasn't put in.

Megaman X was in fact the number one requested Capcom character, at least at Capcom-Unity. I've also heard he had support in Japan, though I don't have a source on that at the moment.
The only way Niitsuma's being straight with us is if he means "oh, CLASSIC megaman didn't get enough votes." But... why not just put in X, then?
Capcom knows that X is extremely popular, he will be introduced as DLC months after UMVC3 comes out and they know people WILL pay for him unlike Jill and Shuma-Gorath.
No, X won't be in at all. Zero already fills his spot and X would be too similar. Besides, it doesn't need Megaman.
Also, the polls were made by fans, not by Capcom themselves, they said so themselves and they said that winning the poll wouldn't guarantee an inclusion.
Besides, their choices aren't based on popularity, but on who would be fun to play as.

Mega Man isn't their only Mascot. There's also Ryu, who is also in the game and is the face of Capcom's fighters.

Faithful to the games means he works like Dark Phoenix. If he goes down at 5 bars, Mia pops up, turns the case around, and sets him back on his feet. Then Cornered 2001 plays, his opponent has a breakdown and confetti falls from the sky.

I doubt they would call him Nick since that would just confuse everyone that's not us. Originally I was going to use the argument stating that no one in the roster goes by their first and last name, but then I thought of Strider-Hiryu. So I'm sure Phoenix Wright will be what they call him. Hopefully.
Plus, imagining the announcer in my head, Wright sounds awkward but Phoenix Wright works perfectly so there's that.
