I wonder if they'll only be 1 truly good ending in GPD?
Just my thoughts I read somewhere:
Spoiler:
If theres only 1 True Ending or whatever, imagine how many times you'll have to get bad endings? How creepy/bad would they be? The Axe Ending in 999 was the scariest IMO and the Safe/Letter was the saddest though Sub was pretty sad too :(
Axe scared the crap out of me :o It was the first ending I got!

Oh Zero III, you're going to be absolutely terrifying by the game's end, aren't you, you adorable little psychotic bunny rabbit.

So this was the final "hidden" video on their site, huh... Yeah, I now have a fear of rabbits.

Oh, and Junpei is so Zero 3. Come on, Bunny motif, a copycat Zero, maybe searching for the real one...

Maybe that or Zero 3 is... You know... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jvEvF2ndBI&feature=related(Kirby video.)

Edit: Turns out the memento mori phrase is an anagram. I got the first part is "The man ate the moon-" but I missed the last part and can't seem to hit it.

That's a great thought actually.

Spoiler:
Remember Akane's bunny story? Maybe searching for Akane is what made him become this way? I did think about this too, Junepi = Zero III would be a great twist.

Good point.
Spoiler:
Unless theyre counting Akane as Zero 2 (with Lord Gordain as the original Zero)?
Anyone notice that bit that said "Blue Planet"? I imagine the image salads are spoilery but not really (out of context they dont mean as much). The Memento Mori thing is also an anagram but I didnt get it.

I REALLY NEED this game. For all that is holy, we need subtitles.
I find Aksys' talk of "We don't currently have any plans" somewhat disturbing, unless it means "we can't announce it yet"?

Exactly.
Spoiler: 999
I don't think the Cradle Nonary game had a Zero, since Ace didn't exactly make who was running things a secret, and our lovely Akane was simply "Zero." I thought for a bit, maybe they were jointly counting Santa and June as Zero / Zero 2, but Santa wasn't Zero. Looks like we have another Nonary game afoot.

Also, I like my Kirby theory above. Why? Cause that would be one hell of a crossover.

Edit: I just received a message that there is already a subbed version of the new video somewhere. Any have it yet?

Yes, she did say she wanted revenge for someone killing her father... I never even considered it being Gordian. Maybe her father is the first dead man they find? Anyway, Gordian ran multiple games for debtors, right? I don't think he would've gone by Zero either.

There are two types of cellphone plans. The first, is via contract. You agree to pay a fixed amount per month, for a given period. (2 years is the norm?) The 'advantage' with this plan is that you have the option of having your phone subsidized. However, more often then not, you pay a lot more in the long run this way, even and especially counting the savings via subsidizing. Family plans also fly under this banner.

The other, is contract free. You pay in advanced for the minutes you intend to use. To 'recharge' your phone full of minutes, you can buy a phone card, which is little more then a gift certificate for your phone. The disadvantage to this plan, is that you get to see how much the phone companies cover for your subsidized phone. (That 'free' phone, just became $200, $300) But, for the same two years under contract, you actually come out ahead, even if you buy that new phone.

According to an employee Aksys has no plans to localize Extreme Escape Adventures.

Usually statements like "we don't have any plans to do xyz" don't worry me, because they say such things all the time when there are no concrete plans. But the guy also said: "Because I REALLY need to play it in English @_@." So I guess he already knows they will never localize this game.

That's what I heard as well, that's madness if you ask me and very worrying - are Aksys hoping some other company will do it? 999 sold very well in the West. Or are Aksys teasing?
Could it be the sub v dub issue is the stumbling block? Subbing isnt the same as "localising" and if you cut the dialogue out, it would just be silent, but where would they find good English VA's?

Anyway - heres the trailer subbed in English:

The "Memento Mori" phrase rearranges itself to "The Man on the Moon Rules The Infinite Time" apparently, whatever that means.

Mm... nah. If there were plans, I'm sure it would be covered under a non-disclosure agreement. In which case, we'd know less then we do now. I'm a little worried that we won't get it, but not too worried. They know the game sold well in the west, 'and' that the current website has a 70% ratio of foreigners to natives looking at it. They know the demand exists. So they're motivated to get it localized. They just need to find an interested party.

Go Nintendo reader's review of Good People Die's Demo

Quote:
layed the demo for a bit. Obviously since I can't read any of the text in the game, I can only really comment on how the game looks, and how the controls and navigation feel.

Honestly, in those regards, the game is kind of disappointing. The 3D effect is very poorly implemented. During dialog scenes (obviously a huge portion of the game), the characters are 3D models, but they are completely flat. It creates a very ugly 3D effect where the room they're standing in is 3D and has 3D depth to it, but the characters are like 2D paper cutouts from a depth standpoint, but they also happen to be 3D models. Very jarring and sloppy looking.

Navigation around the rooms also feels extremely clunky. Putting the focus on the top screen, you now have to control a cursor with the analog slide pad, and it's very jerky in its movement. The camera moves with it and is really stiff feeling, and doesn't allow for natural movement of the first person view (it only allows straight 90 degree angle movement of up/down and right/left). Very unnatural and super clunky feeling.

One nice thing is the abundance of voice acting now in the game. It's nice to at least see the production value in the audio department getting a boost compared to 999.

I'm the game will still be great though, as like 999, the story is where it's at with these games.

And as a contrast another review of the demo:

Quote:
Just finished GPD demo.
My thoughts: (almost completely disagree with what Mario said)

Visuals: Character designs look great. Not much to say about the background, though due to the location of the game it can't be helped I guess. The models used are 3D, and have a nice subtle effect with the 3D on, similar to how the 3DS Layton does it. The character interaction parts where their head appears in a frame is remimiscent of the tales of series.

Audio: Didn't pay much attention to the bgm, but it was suitable. Voice acting is done great imo. Gives the characters more personality.

Controls: Don't use the face button for controls. Looking with the slidepad is a bit clunky and not natural. Use the stylus/touchscreen for this game. It feels much better and controls easily.

Story: Since it was a demo, there wasn't much of the story detailed, but from what's given, I like it. There are some humourous parts in the story and during character interactions as well.

Other:
Opening intro video is awesome.
The dialogue scenes are really well done and are perfect with the voices.

Until I see the demo in English I wouldnt necessarily be able to have an opinion on how the game will play, and even then - remember 999's original demo? It was different from the finished game (the complete game started off superior, IMO with better written text).
Also, I read a post on Neogaf saying apparently the reason for the "we have no plans" thing from Aksys could be because companies in Japan dont like to talk to other companies about Western release until the game been out for a while. Maybe Chunsoft won't talk to anyone until sales numbers are in.

Honestly? Just from taking a look at the female characters, I'm almost 100% sure I'm not going to like any of them. Alice and Clover look way too fanservicey, Luna looks okay except I'm sure she'll end up being the usual "I'm such a klutz, I need someone to protect me!" character (and by "someone", I mean "Sigma". The trailer pretty much confirms this. Ugh), and Phi... well, I don't know. The whole "lying about the size of her breasts" thing doesn't make me very hopeful, but who knows.

I probably should stop expecting so much from Japanese media when it comes to female characters. >_>

I've got somewhat similar views on Luna vs the other fan service girls. But I disagree with the conclusion. A perverted writer is going to want one of the nudists to need an emotional crutch.

Spoiler: My theory
They've dropped hints in the past, but me thinks Luna is this game's Ace. And that's a total shame since she's the only woman who isn't remotely dressed like a hooker. The unfortunate implication is that unless a girl is naked, she's evil.

My thoughts:

Spoiler:
Why do I get the feeling that Luna will be the June/Akane of Good People Die? She looks a bit like her, IMO. What if Zero 3 was JUNPEI? :O It would be awesome. Maybe the Ambidex Nonary Game was June's bigger plan, but she is using Junpei as part of it. Or maybe he was using her, to try to find her. So who is the puppetmaster now, Junpei or June? :o

Spoiler: 999, Theory
Now that I think about it, Lotus is the only female character in 999 that, as far as we know, has never killed anyone. I know Clover wasn't in her usual frame of mind during the Axe ending...

I really hope Luna isn't the Ace of this game - it's too predictable. I think she may be the type that has a long fuse, but taking advantage of her/pushing her too far may have disastrous, if not fatal consequences. Closer to Clover than Ace.

Well, I think you're right. I mean, they both have large, mostly exposed breasts, they both seem to die in all bad endings, and Alice is seen with a knife in her chest in nearly the exact same position as Lotus during the knife ending, although it may be self inflicted...

Spoilers: 999, and GPD thoughts:
Spoiler:
That means I probably won't really like Alice until late on in the game as she'll seem suspicious for most of the game probably...?
I think it will still be interesting to see how the characters, new and old, discover how the Ambidex Game ties into the older Nonary Game. I don't think the older guy will be an Ace-like figure somehow. I mean, think about what happened like what Junpei said in 999, its too easy, too obvious. Here's Ace, a jolly old guy who you thought was a great character but-also-made-an-awesome-villain-ish :D Thats too easy, also I'm not sure Luna will be Zero.

I hope to still be surprised somehow!

Since we currently seem to be in the midst of predictions that the new nine characters are all going to be expies of one of the nine from the original game, I would like to point out that that's probably exactly what they want us to think. Consider that the original nine were meant to evoke stereotypical anime characters: the big, dumb muscle, the foul-mouthed punk, the loli-bait, the mindless fanservice woman, etc. In truth, the characters turned out to be so much more.

Now here we are noticing that many (if not all) of the new characters in Good People Die have a suspicious amount in common with the original nine. I would be very disappointed in the staff if they weren't able to see these assumptions we have for the new nine coming from a mile away and didn't plan accordingly. Seriously, have some faith. Besides, even if they do turn out to be pretty similar to the original nine, I sincerely doubt they will be straight-up retreads.

ShadowofEdgeworth makes a very good point - if Chunsoft/Aksys are reading forums on our opinions (thinking the characters will be similar), this could be what they WANT us to think and they know the demand is there in the West.

As was said above, I don't even think for a second they'd make the characters anything like the ones in 999. Chunsoft is smarter than that.

Edit: Although Google Translate is never accurate, some things I read while using it on that page proved interesting, like calling the rabbit Chibizero and the other... thing, Old Zero. Highlight of the page, though?
