I was reading the character page about Kirihoto Garyuu when I came across this: If you turn "kirihito" to "hitokiri" it means "killer."
It got me thinking - what if you did this with the english word killer. I got the shock of my life: Erkill or Urkel! That is hardly the kind of name I would give Kirihoto!
Surely they wouldn't! Tell me they wouldn't! After all the Apollo Justice outrage, they couldn't do that could they?!?

Haven't you learned from previous name threads, that the English isn't usually a direct Translation.
Naruhodo Ryuuichi means "I see dragon" but ended up as Phoenix Wright.

It will be something completely unrelated that the makers like and think fits. Like Conrad.

I think what's even more interesting is his family name. I tried to divide it into two parts and although the official way of writing his name in Kanji is different, I like this version. If you write his family name "Garyuu" like this: "我流" it means "self-taught" or "one's own way". The thing is, that you could pronounce his name a bit different. if you pronounce the second part of it as "riyuu/理由" instead of "ryuu" (the difference is really minimal) then it means "reason". And once you write the "ga" with this Kanji: "我" it means "selfish". So his family name would then mean "selfish reason".

I have to admit that I don't know much about GS4 (I was really curious, I admit it XD That's why I chose to find out a few things about Kirihito which others would call "MASSIVE SPOILERS" XDDD) but I think it's a nice twist :3 Oh and in case you wonder: I'm studying Japanese studies and I constantly think about such things XD Kanji rule my life, obviously XDDD
