Alright folks, we're getting ever so much closer to the big day and we've got a lot expected to come this week.

First, in just over 24 hours from now, mega-Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu gets leaked to the internet. I don't know if we'll get a feature since both Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney and Ace Attorney 5 got features in weeks prior. But, since this is the week of Tokyo Game Show, anything is possible. But between the two games, I'd be surprised if there we aren't hit by something of interest.

Image

Second, in the event there's an article about Ace Attorney 5 in Famitsu (or TGS for that matter), and if it just so happens to mention the game's main prosecutor that means that the Pick Your Prosecutor Contest will be closed, and the judging will begin. So if you want a shot at rare japanese swag in the form of a keychain cover then I'd recommend making a post on the thread with your craziest ideas. And soon!

Remember! We don't penalize for what you guess wrong. Only what you get right. So feel free to let your wildest guesses roam free! You guess a prosecutor with a Mecha? We want to hear it!

Next, Tokyo Game Show itself. The event runs from the 20th through the 23rd. On the 20th, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will have a new trailer released on the official site. For Ace Attorney 5, we can expect the formal event on the 22nd to include an epic TGS Court Movie. At least, we can expect it if past TGS showings can be considered any indication.

And who knows what we can expect for the Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney showing on the 23rd! It's going to be a wild 4 days!

(The above dates are all JST, by the way.)

Image

And looking a bit forward. Is anyone reading this planning on attending New York ComicCon? This event lasts from October 11th-14th.

The reason I bring this up is because the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is supposed to come out *air quotes* "this fall". But that's really vague. So when/where will we learn more info? Tokyo Game Show is out of the question, it's for Japanese gamers, not to mention they've had the game since early this year. So what's a western convention/expo that happens in the fall that would fit the bill? The last big event of the year I'm aware of is New York ComicCon. Oh, and look Capcom is attending.

Mind, this is all conjecture on my part. And Capcom could just release the game without fan fair like they did with Ghost Trick. But the fact that they've pre announced this game's release and demoed it at PAX makes me think that kind of stunt wouldn't fit the M.O. for the hype they're trying to build around it.

So yeah, if anyone reading this is planning on attending NY Comic Con, would you mind peeking in at the Capcom booth? Check and see if there's any objectionable Ace Attorney goodness to be seen?

I'll be headed to NYCC this year, so if I see or hear anything about our favorite franchise, I'll pass on the word. Granted I'm only going on Saturday, but who knows what I might be able to find? You know, aside from all the other awesome stuff at the show.

I'm taking the liberty of updating the first post to note that PLvsAA's TGS trailer is set to be released on the 20th at some point.

What else can we expect about GS5? A trailer? Name of the first case? Some other characters being introduced?
Hopefully GS5 will be released by February-May 2013.. :odoroki:

I'll be at NYCC on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so you can be sure I'll thoroughly check out anything relevant whenever I can and report back here.

Even if it means sitting in a line forever. Which it hopefully won't. :phoenix:

For some reason, I booked a trip abroad precisely when TGS starts and I won't be back until it ends, meaning I will miss all of this and have to catch up when I come back ^_~'' (I'll not be around for quick translations like always, so yoroshiku onegaishimasu to those who will translate stuff).

Daw. We'll miss you Ash. Your combination of translations and independent research's always been a silent favorite of mine.

… really. I don't know why it takes you saying you won't be around for me to say it. Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

Ah well. Have fun on your trip!

Have a nice trip, Ash! You definitely deserve it, really! :minuki:

So, seeing how he'd be gone, if any help is needed with japanese translations, I could offer myself, seeing how I'm still on Summer Break (Yeah, Austrian Summer Break for University students is damn long...) and need the exercise anyway, but I can't guarrante for 100% accuracy. I am still not really fluent at the language, but I'd try to do what I can... :yuusaku:

Famitsu leaks should be out any moment now. I'm already seeing some reports of Famitsu scores, but nothing Ace Attorney related yet.

Would you mind giving us a heads up if there isn't anything AA related? Then we can all look forward to the trailer tomorrow :pearl:

I may not have Bolt Storm's or Japanese Girl's resources, but spying on Twitter, all I'm getting is vague disappointment in this issue. I'm not quite willing to take that at face value since adventure games are a niche. But then again, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney and Ace Attorney 5 did get features last week and the week before. So perhaps there's nothing to 'feature' over.

I think Famitsu has no AA news in this week. :sadshoe:

AA5 articles will appear in B'sLOG magazine tomorrow. But I think B'sLOG magazine's articles will be only already sent news.

NYCC released their full panels schedule today. There's going to be a Capcom panel on Friday the 12th. Here's the provided description:

"CAPCOM returns to NYCC with another stellar lineup of the hottest new video game titles in the coming year! Moderator Francis Mao (CAPCOM) leads a panel of Capcom's producers and product managers to share trailers and sneak peeks of all the hot, new upcoming CAPCOM games featuring Resident Evil 6, DmC, Lost Planet 3, Street Fighter X Tekken (PS Vita), Okami HD, Remember Me and more! Plus, a few surprises! Followed by a Q&A session. "

A few surprises..
sounds promising?
Unfortunately I wont be there on Friday to make the panel, but I'll be attending most likely on Sunday so I'll be keeping my eye out then.

I'm late on this, but have a good trip, Ash! And as for the translations, ganbarimasu yo!

Thanks for the heads-up on the magazines, JapaneseGIRL! いつもありがとう。

Tomorrow is when we can expect things to get interesting. PLvsAA's new trailer is to be posted on the 20th JST, which is about 10 hours from now. I doubt it'll go up at the stroke of midnight, of course, but sometime tomorrow it should show up. And we don't know when Capcom will choose to start uploading TGS media.

It kinda worries me that they keep refering to GS5 as "8 years after GS3", as if to pretend there never was a "4". >_> But maybe I'm just paranoid.

I'm positive that that one interview that was translated confirmed that the chain in Phoenix's suit was the Trucy Locket. Trucy Locket means there was a GS4- so no worries!

Neni may have a point though.

Phoenix had a Magatama in AJ/GS4, and a couple of vague references to Maya and Edgeworth, and, at least to me, it still felt as though they were trying to pretend there was never a GS1-GS3.

Maybe there's a lesson here. People are a lot less pissed when they don't see one cast get screwed over for the sake of another cast... and that applies both ways.

*looks at ND cover* Interesting, Phoenix's pointer finger is the same as old Phoenix's.

Actually, you don't need registration to view niconico videos if you use their embedded player.

Btw, for those that don't recognize Niconico, it's basically Youtube in Japan. Their unique feature is that user comments scroll over the video. There is a button in the lower right corner of the player chrome to turn them off.

Also, registration for Niconico is in English these days. Most everything is still in Japanese, though, so unless you know it or you really know what you're looking for, good luck browsing.

I think it's because that's how long it's been since Nick was in a trial/lost his badge.

I mean, I think it makes a lot more sense to say "It's been 8 years since the last time Nick was an attorney" than to say "It's been a year since Nick's protege became an attorney" (when the game is about Nick)

I think it was established that the game is promoted that way because Nick's trial was eight years ago (State Vs. Zak).
