I am hoping they'll find a way to make characters from the original trilogy relevant to the cases rather than just make them pointless cameos (I'm looking at you Ema Skye AAI Case 3). But if there's one thing I want to be done away with, it's that they should STOP BRINGING BACK MIKE MEEKINS! I mean I don't hate him but I'm annoyed that he keeps returning in place of characters that people actually like. If they find a way to make him more relevant to the game than someone like Edgeworth, Maya, or Apollo, I'm going to scream.
As for the promise, you're probably right considering this is a sequel to GS4 and also that Trucy's picture is in Phoenix's locket, pretty much confirming she'll be back. But I'm not sure why he'd have to become a lawyer again just to protect his daughter unless she was accused of some murder. Although the 'promise' could also refer to Apollo. If it does, it could give the Prosecutor Justice theory some support. Phoenix could be trying to get Apollo to "snap out of it" as Neni said in her explanation.
And as for PL vs AA, I just have one major complaint. Capcom doesn't want to localize it for us! We're not even sure Level 5 will either. First, AAI2, and now this? Does Capcom just hate non-Japanese Ace Attorney fans or something?
Hey I like Officer Meekins, I think he's adorable and funny.
And at least in AAI I'll be able to see Ema again when she was still cheerful.
This is just a fan interpretation, (but if this is true I will cry.) the reason Edgeworth and Franziska didn't show up in AJ is because they were living in Europe at the time.

Agreed.
The only way I will accept that unhuman waste of game space is if he's the victim. AND STAYS DEAD. Some staffer must just love him or something. Even second he wasted in GS4 I just wanted to throw the game at the wall. And that megaphone screeching! And....

I'm afraid Prosecutor Justice sounds a bit too creative for the AAI writers. If AAI is any guide, especially with this their first GS game they'd be playing it safe rather than instigating new and 'controversial' character development. (However, they could decide their 3rd game gives them license to drop that approach). I hope the crimes/boss is better integrated than the one in AAI. I just didn't care about the crimes in that one. (The whole hypothesis is one of those things that 'should' happen, if the writers were actually being interesting. Apollo is bombing the courts, has fallen to the Dark Side in joining some anti-jury terrorist organisation, his wonderful Daddy Gant is now out of jail and returns to see his son, creating more trauma and angst....the world degenerates into even greater dystopic corruption... Phoenix regrets 'forging' the Jurist System....)

(Personally, If I'd written GS5, I would have made it more democratic by having more choice paths in the game akin to 2-4 and its Bad Ends, to try and placate the divided mess this fandom has been cast into by that polarising GS4 game.)
My tentative hypothesis is the Big Bad (or the decoy one) is endangering Trucy, and maybe the bomb was somehow affecting her. But they could just thrust Phoenix into a crime to which he has little immediate recognisable connection, like Edgey and AAI, and leave Phoenix's motives the mystery aka GS4 DESPITE HIM BEING THE MAIN CHARACTER. I hope not. Anyway we have almost nothing to go on.

Yeah, I'm getting mad. People just sit around assuming it will happen or something. Meanwhile the alternate universe the Level-5 sits in will probably decide nobody wants it localised. 'We already have 99999999999999999999 Layton games already aren't they happy?' 'Oh we didn't think there was any fan demand!'
Anyway the L5I site seems to list a Layton game released in Oct or Nov of both 2011 and 2012, so this better be The Layton Game for 2013, I hope there isn't another first in the pipeline...

Which would make the title "Ace Attorney 5" rather meaningless. If the story does not continue the story of the previous games and would rather focus more on bringing in new players (and apparently forgetting about the old fans) why not make this a reboot?

GS3 -> GS4
Direct sequels (GS2, GS3, GK2) were always made 1-2 years later.
GS4 arguably was a reboot.

Yeah, it's hard to think positively about GS5. But I try to think of the possibility that we could all be wrong, and it'll be everything we wanted. I even added the GS5 curl to Phoenix's hair in my symbol because I'm hoping for a revival of Phoenix and Maya's relationship in the game. So regardless of all this speculation, I'll definitely buy it when it comes out.

I want to get PLxAA for the Ace Attorney part of the game, because with Professor Layton, even though I got Last Specter, I couldn't stay invested with the series. I also want to see Phoenix and Maya who haven't been main characters together for SIX YEARS. But the one thing that bugs me is that any sort of development to their relationship is completely self-contained because the game is only a noncanon crossover.
However, the best part of the game, in my opinion, is that Shu Takumi is the one writing the story, giving us assurance he'll treat his characters right. So we could see more of how he treats PxM...if we'll even get the game outside Japan. I'm hoping E3 will give us an official announcement!
*edit: Just re-read the AA wiki, Takumi actually wasn't in charge of the script for the game. Wierd...

Are you asking me or are you suggesting it IS canon? This is certainly news to me!
I only thought it wasn't because it was a crossover and I couldn't see where it could fit in the AA timeline. If it is canon, when does it take place?

Lovely fanfic, I nearly teared up. And Franziska was adorable in this fanfic. There were a few grammar errors though.

Why wouldn't it be 'canon'? If it isn't, then neither are GS4 and certainly not GS5 (which isn't even by Takumi). You can't just arbitrarily decide some plotstory-based games WRITTEN BY TAKUMI are canon and some aren't. (The context of appearances in things like UMvC3 and SNK vs Capcom Cardfighters is understood...)
Maya says 'Zvarri' so I guess it's after 3-2 at least.
Anything they both appear in contributes to the concept of their 'relationship' anyway, regardless of the 'mess' a linear distinct timeline might be. Takumi considers them the same characters, even if the exact connection to the other games is undefined. In his head he's just manifesting the 'relationship' between them in whatever setting.

I think PL vsPW wasn't so much Capcom's 'decision', Level-5 probably claimed ownership in the West or something rather than allowing Capcom USA the rights on a Layton game. Remember how when the game was announced in 2010 or so Capcom US TOLD us all post on their Capcom-Unity site we wanted it? But I can only assume Level-5 US decided it takes precedent over the game due to owning Layton, so if there was a pitch by Capcom US to the rights in the West (with our 'fan feedback' as support? there must have been a reason to actively get it) it was denied. THEORETICALLY Capcom has/will granted Level-5 the 'right' to localise and market the game in the West. But we don't know what actually went on between Capcom US and Level-5 International. And they're unlikely to tell us. I sent a polite enquiry to L5I about PL vs PW through their site feedback form a few months ago and got a reply of NOTHING AT ALL not even a spam form letter so you can see they're great at PR. Or maybe they don't consider me a customer since I don't live in USA.

It may have been the end of Nick's lawyer era, but it never ended the era of his relationship with the one he holds dearest to him. If anything, it could be considered a strengthening of it. Nick was always there to save Maya whenever she was accused of murder, kidnapped, or on the brink of death. Now it's him who needs a shoulder to lean on, and who better than Maya to rush to his aid when the news breaks.
I love how this picture not only shows the sadness at the loss of Nick's badge, but also that ever-strong loyalty Maya has to Nick when he's in need the most. Maybe that's why you made the shot look reminiscent of Turnabout Sisters. Just as Maya desperately needed help after Mia's death, Nick needed someone to comfort him after his dedicated career was unexpectedly taken away from him.

I guess it looks ok to me. The costumes look pretty good, and I like how they replicate the games' sprites with those poses. I especially like how Edgeworth and Franziska look here.

For me it's not valentine's day yet...I wanted to make a fanfiction for my fellow P/M fans but I couldn't get the creative juices flowing. :( But for my fellow Phoenix/Edgeworth fans I managed to make an AU P/E fic, that also features Dahlia/Iris...And it was also my first time writing a homosexual romance...and an incest romance. ^^; I just got to check for grammar errors and type it up.
But anyway, happy v-day to my fellow Phoenix/Maya fans, and to all the lovely people at court-records. *blows kiss*

Oh my god! Those are awesome! *o* I nearly died from amazement because the picture with Maya and the chocolate Nick and that picture with Older Nick and Master Maya talking while all the kurain girls watch. I can totally see those two happen in the cannon. :3
