The only character who I really would consider to be outright gay is Jean Armstrong, since it's actually implied in game. All the other metrosexual characters (Ron DeLite, Wellington, Klavier, Kristoph, etc.) seem to be just that, metrosexual, though I wouldn't quite discredit Kristoph as possibly being gay.

well I'm under the impression that he might have better luck with men. I can see your point as most people are taught from society and media etc. that every single person is straight until proven otherwise. (I'm not calling you brainwashed here, I'm just making a point. Society is biased.) That's why homosexuals and bisexuals often feel the need to "come out" - because people would probably just assume they are straight otherwise.
For me, as a non-straight person, the whole world, the whole society I live in, is a "straightfest" where everyone is assumed to be straight until proven otherwise. I know not everyone is straight. There are bisexuals, asexuals, homosexuals, queers, pansexuals, all that jazz, and in media etc. they have to prove themselves not to be straight to even "exist". Homosexuality etc. doesn't disappear just because people don't talk about it. It would be just as biased to claim everyone was, for instance, homosexual until proven otherwise. Just because something is less common and less seen doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I'm not claiming all these characters are LGBT, all I'm saying is that LGBT-people exist, and they don't have to prove themselves, they don't have to come out, even if they aren't "out" they are still there. In the streets, media, classroom, among friends and family. My point being: Straight people don't have to prove themselves to be straight. Why do LGBT-people?

I agree with you. To further expound on your point, if you don't mind:
The argument that comes next is usually something along the lines of "well, if it's so important to you to have gay characters, why don't you support media with some?" but it's not that simple. I don't like games or shows or movies because they have non-straight characters, I like them because of the same sort of reasons everyone else likes them. I don't relate to cliche, young skinny gay boys with stereotypical interests. Being a fan of something is all about how you relate to it; is it really such a crime to imagine a character you relate to is like you? What's wrong with people wanting their favourite characters to be gay, or bisexual, or asexual, when it ultimately has no bearing on the personality or the essence of that character? I'm sincerely asking that, not being facetious. It doesn't change what the characters are like in canon, and it makes people feel better about themselves. So what?
It bothers me that people assume Jean Armstrong must be gay. It's an insidious thought process of tying sexual orientation to gendered roles. Being a man who acts in a feminine manner isn't an automatic indicator of being gay, even in the case of drag queens. Yes, a lot of them are gay: but it's correlation, not causation. It's no different than how being overtly masculine doesn't necessarily make you straight. I hear this a lot: "X character has never been in a relationship with a person of the same sex. How can you know they're gay?" but... Jean Armstrong has no canon romantic relationships. How can you know he's gay?
And if you're going to argue that most people are straight, so it's statistically inaccurate for more than a token character or two to be anything else: Why does it bother you so much? Why can you accept spirit channeling more easily than you can people of non-standard sexualities? Really think about it, and then get back to me. I'm curious.

Although, I do think that Aura Blackquill definitely is, and I've started to become used to Adrian and Franziska (But I initially thought that was more of her 'co-dependence' issues, as she never felt that way for Celeste Inpax to my knowledge), although I never saw the "NaruMitsu" pair as possible, as Phoenix loved Dahlia (Iris), and called Julie Henson 'sexy' in the manga.
But with Edgeworth, I did find this so believable:

I agree with you. To further expound on your point, if you don't mind:
The argument that comes next is usually something along the lines of "well, if it's so important to you to have gay characters, why don't you support media with some?" but it's not that simple. I don't like games or shows or movies because they have non-straight characters, I like them because of the same sort of reasons everyone else likes them. I don't relate to cliche, young skinny gay boys with stereotypical interests. Being a fan of something is all about how you relate to it; is it really such a crime to imagine a character you relate to is like you? What's wrong with people wanting their favourite characters to be gay, or bisexual, or asexual, when it ultimately has no bearing on the personality or the essence of that character? I'm sincerely asking that, not being facetious. It doesn't change what the characters are like in canon, and it makes people feel better about themselves. So what?
It bothers me that people assume Jean Armstrong must be gay. It's an insidious thought process of tying sexual orientation to gendered roles. Being a man who acts in a feminine manner isn't an automatic indicator of being gay, even in the case of drag queens. Yes, a lot of them are gay: but it's correlation, not causation. It's no different than how being overtly masculine doesn't necessarily make you straight. I hear this a lot: "X character has never been in a relationship with a person of the same sex. How can you know they're gay?" but... Jean Armstrong has no canon romantic relationships. How can you know he's gay?
And if you're going to argue that most people are straight, so it's statistically inaccurate for more than a token character or two to be anything else: Why does it bother you so much? Why can you accept spirit channeling more easily than you can people of non-standard sexualities? Really think about it, and then get back to me. I'm curious.
Exactly. I thought of that too, people strive for identification. It's rather important actually, and makes people feel less, well, left out?
I very much agree. People tend to accept anything, but when it comes to more than one non-straight character? (People often have the same issue with POC, but that's a whole different topic.) Well, non-straight people should apparently be grateful if they get the tiniest bit of representation and shouldn't be greedy for more.
As for Jean Armstrong, I couldn't have said it better myself. Yes, he might flirt with men... But it doesn't seem to cross people's minds that he might be, for example, bisexual, perhaps that's the reason for the cute outfits his waitresses wear, for him to have something sweet to look at while at work? (This isn't what I believe, the dress-thingie, what I believe isn't relevant here.)
Also, Armstrong claimed that Tigre flirted with him during the trial where he pretended to be Wright. "I never forget a man who flirts with me", or something along that line. Now, Jean could talk bull, or perhaps Tigre flirted with him to make Phoenix seem even more unprofessional, but even so, he claimed that he flirted with him - yet most people seem to take for granted, in this thread, that Tigre is straight.
Ugh. I wish I could be more well-spoken right now, but I'm about to faint from lack of sleep, just woke up after one hour and intend to sleep some more right about... now.
