I don't think they really missed out on anything else as big as this example, but I'll have to check the scripts later. Mainly, the differences between Japanese and English are the efforts to "Westernize" certain things that are more Japanese in nature. Occasionally, the script can be interpreted differently, but they get the general idea of what's being said.
