http://www.escapistmagazine.com/article ... Objections

What seems to be the first article about the demo shown at e3. No new surprises here.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

The fact that's classed as a spin-off makes me sad.

I guess it kind of retroactively is here in America, but its still Gyakuten Saiban 4 in Japan.

Also to be honest I don't really consider any of the games "spin-offs". There are enough returning characters in AAI that I just look at all 7 games as parts of one long story.

AAI is not a spin off, it is a gaiden game, totally different thing. Spin offs don't count as being a part of the same series.
Currently working on a redesign of cr.net itself! Come talk to me about it on Discord!

I think it fits the term spin-off in the western sense: A story focusing on a side character of a previous work with appearances by familiar characters. So AAI is a spin off to AA the way that Frasier was a spin off of Cheers.

But I also wikipedia'd Gaiden and it seems to be very specific about it only being a side-story, making it a good term to describe it as well.

It's just a difference in the meaning of the word spin-off. In the west, it covers both of those while in Japan they have a seperate word for each.

It's not really worth being pedantic about it is what I'm trying to say.
