Hope you enjoy Turnabout Return, because it looks like that's the last of the Dual Destinies DLC we'll be seeing, at least for the near future. Speaking on Capcom's Hagitoko program today, series producer Motohide Eshiro stated the following about future DLC:

Quote:
今後のダウンロードコンテンツは?
逆転裁判5としては(ダウンロードコンテンツは)一旦これで終了.

Any further DLC coming?
Well, with regards to Dual Destinies - or more accurately, its DLC - we're done for now.

While it doesn't explicitly rule out more DLC down the line, it looks like any future DLC won't be for a while, if it ever happens.

Kind of sad to hear that there aren't any current plans to do any more DLC, whether if it is costume packs or extra cases, since Turnabout Return looks very great. But hey, there may be more DLC in the future. Wouldn't mind any extra cases if they are as high-quality as Turnabout Return.

Huh. Looks like they wanted to test the DLC waters, nothing more. If they make more DLC, that means their test was successful. However, having a long gap between DLC, especially on a platform like the 3DS and with a game with little immediate replay value, would likely mean that future DLC would be far less popular. Especially if the majority of the game owners don't follow news for AA5 (which I'm sure a lot of US people do since most of the audience are fans, but I don't know about Japan).

As an example, I'm guessing that most owners of Bioshock Infinite that don't have the season pass don't care about the DLC that's been taking forever to come out, at least without more marketing than the multiplayer thing had. And considering the replayability of that game and how mainstream it is, I'm sure that would be even worse for future AA5 DLC, if any comes.

If the DLC they already released in AA5 works, it'd probably be best to wait until AA6 and have more stuff planned than to add more to AA5. As long as said DLC remains outside of the main plot of the game, of course.

While this is disappointing, I expected this. Based on how high quality the dlc case seems it seemed like it would be hard to keep churning them out. In fact I wonder if it was made as DLC just so they could make a six case game without being totally overwhelmed.

If this is the case, I hope Capcom releases it as day one DLC here in America so I can play it with The other cases.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

Aww that sucks. I was looking forward to more DLC's for Dual Destiny, but at least we still getting the DLC that Japan got during the release.

Nothing surprising. They need to see how well the DLCs are doing, and then there's a need to plan new scenarios that fit the game, and wait for things like the anime cutscenes if they're including those.

Probably, also as well maybe they don't want to release cases that could potentially be in GS6.

I wonder if by saying they're not releasing more DLC cases for the game, that it means a new game in the series is under production? I wonder if that's the case? (I hope so!) That'd mean the writers would be spending time now making a new story for a potential GK3/GS6 and so as to make sure the new title has every detail attended to, they won't be focusing on DLC for GS5. Maybe that means that there'd be more available with the next installment if all went well with this game's DLC?

Hmm, you'd think they'd have quite a few more costume packs in the works, especially since Athena and Apollo only have 1 alternate, and Phoenix has 2... Well, i'm okay without story DLC for a while, 6 cases is more than enough to last! I hope that they consider maybe 1 more case mid-next year or something, before going onto GS6.

Well hopefully even if try don't release case DLC's they can atleast come out with different costume packs for the characters.

I didn't expect to have more DLC cases, but I'm kind of surprised there are only 3 DLC costumes, with just 1 for each character, since the "costume change" screen in-game seems like it was made with the intent of having 3+ costumes possible for a character.

Well maybe down the road I'm sure that they will come out with more DLC for the costumes, since they won't come out with more cases.

Hmm. Then all the work they spent remaking Klavier in 3D was a complete waste almost. I was certain his appearance in case 3 was a tease of what might come.

I hope this is due more to a general lack of ideas for cases rather than poor DLC sales.

There is the additional costume for Phoenix that you can get for completing the quiz, but otherwise you have a point.

They did say they're done for now regarding DLC so that doesn't exactly rule out the possibility that Klavier will appear in a future DLC case. Plus, it does take time to design a case, I guess.

Yeah but uncertain if the additional costume will come over to the West or not.

The time it would take to make a new case is a good point. Not at this time could mean anything from we have no interest whatsoever in creating any new DLC for this game to we want to know how well the current DLC sells before we consider thinking about making new DLC cases. In other words it could range from a No to a qualified maybe.

They already announced the outfit's that Japan got on the day of the release that it will be for western release as well. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/07/25/ace-attorney-dual-destinies-dlc-episode-costumes-headed-west/

You totally missed the point. It's about the costume you get as a reward for playing the quiz DLC.

If I was talking about the costume pack, I would have said costumes (or costume pack) instead of costume. I figured people would get the hint that I was talking about the costume obtained from the quiz DLC since I was quoting another user talking about the quiz.

But I digress. Anyway, if they're working on AAI3 or AA6, then I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't developing DLC cases for AA:DD at the moment.

I'm very surprised they won't be sending out more costumes, but I understand why there's only one DLC case.
I suppose they'll take a look and see how much they've made off of Turnabout Return and decide to abandon DLC, make one for AA6/AAI 3, or make more than one.
Was the DLC case any good? Without spoilers, can you tell if it was in canon?

I think they just wait for the result about the profit. Sometime when there's not enough place on the cartridge or there is a lack of time they decided to take out some things "unecessary" and sell them as DLC. Like that there's is more profit. My guess is the case was considered as an unecessary extra case and deplace it. The costume though is obviously just another way to make more money. Now let's wait and see if it is profitable to create new cases (re-engage the scenarist or a totally new one) and create new characters model (since it's a bit more costy than 2D models.)
Please don't hit me...

I have to admit I didn't expect the DLC case to have that many additions like new 3D Models, and probably the most anime scenes out of all the cases! I did think that they may not make anymore, but I did hope that they had 2 DLC cases prepared, and they were saving the 2nd for after game spoilers were all known. I guess that wasn't the case :sadshoe:

Really they COULD use DLC to 'test the waters' for ideas about GS6....
Not that that would reach people who didn't decide to buy GS5, but still...

We can hope it really did mean 'near' future and they might try more DLC next year or something.

While I'm sure there's planning for another AA game, I think it's a bit early to start speculating on GK3/GS6 being in development. Remember, GS5 came out less than a month ago - give the staff some time to catch their breath and/or work on something else. (Eshiro worked on Okamiden between GK1 and GK2, for instance.)

Well I'm hoping that if there gonna work on something else it should be Ghost Trick 2, if they decide to actually go for it. I'm hoping they do since i feel the ending for Ghost Trick can still be open to make a sequel.

I have a feeling that is what Shu Takumi is working on. It's been a little under a year he's finished PL vs AA, so he's up to something.
It could be a completely new game, though.

Im hoping thats the case. If anything i wouldn't mind a completely new game, plus they could also have some of the old character's do Cameos.

If they take place in the same universe, that is. He could always do more references, whether they are blatant or subtle, to the characters such as one character wearing clothing resembling Edgeworth's or Gumshoe's.

Anyway, if they are developing more DLC cases, then I'm guessing one would feature Athena as the main character. Apollo would probably get his own DLC case too.
