yeah, this is pretty great work...although it's a little rough around the edges on Desmume...and on NoCashGBA$ it just doesn't run at all, coming up with the 'Rom image has crashed' no matter if it's directly loaded or menu loaded.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy to play this~

Check your Settings? I think I had the same problem at one time, but managed to get it to work on No$GBA eventually. Although I think loading via the NDS Screen/Not Directly By Cartridge helped.

I'm happy to see that the translation is going on so well and everything. Only downside is that the computer doesn't seem to be patching my game. Which is weird, because I have patched things via xDelta before. I also am not that happy about changing the voice clips, but that's probably just me...

For some reason all text in-gameplay is just lots of öÛä and stars...(Edgeworth's name is correct and the menus as well.) Is this something in the patching going wrong? Does anyone have any ideas?
Running on a M3DSReal flashcard. With quadboot.

EDIT: Guess the anti-piracy protection didn't get removed for some reason?

EDIT2: Works fine in DeSuMe, but not on my M3DSReal (With QuadBoot on any of the 4 OSes.). Going to go ahead and assume it's the card then. :(

The only thing I have to worry about is deciding weather or not to play case 1 and 2 or wait till the rest is done and play it all in one go... such a wonderful problem to have!

To people who are having problems patching their ROMs: make sure you have a CLEAN version of the ROM. A ROM that has had the Borginian AP patch applied (so the text doesn't appear to be Borginian when you play it in some cases) will NOT work.

The ROM I used has the following md5 hash:

2D02FFE1F6CC97FB291E28F350877938

Search for an md5 hasher to check to see if your ROM is clean.

Also, here is the md5 of that ROM after I patched it with the xDelta version (hopefully should be the same when patched with Beat):

02C7752C72D4A4013794F373372878D4

For the record, the game runs at full speed on real hardware (except maybe a hiccup when saving, but that's minor), so if it's slow in your emulator it's probably an issue with your computer's speed. Although, mine seems to emulate it just fine (when background processes aren't being greedy) with Desmume 0.9.7, which isn't even the latest version, and my computer is four years old. So you may want to look into help for the emulator you're using if you have issues maintaining an acceptable emulation speed.

EDIT: Kikuto from the other forum has this to say about emulating with Desmume 0.9.9:

Kikuto wrote:
With Desmume (latest version 0.9.9) it indeed does work, you have to tweak it however from settings to get it run perfectly smooth. I got it by choosing Config, then Emulation Settings, unchecked "Enable Advanced Bus-Level Timing", then checked "Use dynamic recomplier" (I left Block Side ratio for 100). Also, it seems "x86"-one from Desmume-emulator run more smoothly than "_dev"-one.

One thing that really helped boost performance for me on Desmume was changing the video config from Video HW (hardware) to Open GL. Runs at a flawless 60fps now. Even with my 4.4 ghz i5 system the game was choppy before. (I also have a dedicated GPU, so Open GL may not work as well for people using intergrated video.)

I have an M3DSSimply and it works fine with Wood. Maybe you should change your firmware, it didn't work on my YSMenu-thingy either.

I'm quite certain you can't install Wood as you would on M3Simply and running Wood through Quadboot is giving me FAT Error when trying to launch AAI2 :(

Yeah doesn't seem to work on Wood for M3 unfortunately. M3Simply is exactly like the R4 card not same as M3DSreal. Weirdly enough the compatibility list shows it working on 1.24 Wood :/ and I run 1.25 and it's not.

@ For all the people having troubles patching the game; Please read the first post on the thread where you downloaded the patch. If you really new to this, search in youtube for "how to patch a nds rom" or "how to use xdelta UI".

@ For all the people having troubles booting the game: Please read the first post on the thread where you dowloaded the patch. There are various workarounds.

@Seronei: Can you post a pic of those screens please??

@ For all the people having speed troubles in Desmume: Well, your PC is the first place to start check, try to close everything else and let only Desmume open. If you know how to change the priority of the process (task manager) try set it above normal. There are some guides online how to speed up Desmume but just remember that not always the latest version is the fastest. Be sure to use the 64x version if you have a 64x system and read the comments in the settings, they tell you what options speed up or slow down the emu. On the 3D settings let only texture on and be sure to turn off that "unrealistically Hight precision color". Play around with your settings till you get a good speed.

@ All supporters: thanks from the team :)

All right! So I just completed both cases today, and I have to say good job, Patch Team! :edgy:

You guys really put forth a lot of effort into patching this, so much so that I sometimes forgot I was playing an unlicensed translation! The character names felt natural, the dialogue was top-notch, and props to the voice actors too! :maya:

I only had 2 things that troubled me, but they were small compared to the big enchilada.

1. Shortly after Justine Courtney's (Hakari) "Overruled!" and Sebastian Debeste's (Yumihiko) "Objection!", I could hear the microphone fizzle. It would be absolutely perfect if you could somehow crop the sound right before those slight annoyances or find another method.

2. While on the topic of Sebastian's "Objection!", I felt that the volume of his voice was a little bit too canned. Don't get me wrong, the voice actor for him is great, and this just expresses how much I want his voice to be heard. A slight uptake on the volume or perhaps a re-recording would be appreciated.

Please don't think ill of me for critiquing, I am merely providing feedback as you asked to make the experience better for everyone. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help in the slightest, and keep up the great work! :phoenix:

That was when they still hadn't announced it's release date, so that's why we'll fill the void of waiting with this game! (But now they have, so I guess we have more games to look forward to!)

Still, I'm positively stoked about this release! :acro: The translation team put in a ton of effort!

Hello,

I have the DSTT, does anyone have that flashcard and got it to work?

I am having trouble making the game run on it.

I followed the patching steps and it causes an error when I run it

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Nintendo have intentionally detected and blocked flashcarts in firmware updates. They have however not done anything beyond that. I am not sure if they make a mark when a known unauthorized device has been used with the system.

So what's the situation with flashcards being played on the 3DS? Do they work or has Nintendo been able to block them? Does connecting your 3DS to the internet somehow give Nintendo the ability to "lock" your system if they detect a flashcart or something?

Nintendo has been blocking DS flashcarts on the 3DS with almost every firmware update, but many flashcarts can be upgraded to get around them. For example, the Supercard DSTwo can have its firmware updated to spoof a different game, and many flashcarts can do that.

The basic rule of thumb is to never update to the latest 3DS firmware until you know it's safe (that is, the flashcart isn't blocked by the update) or until the flashcart creator releases a firmware update and you're able to run the update. Or keep around a DS to apply flashcart firmware updates, like I do.

Nintendo hasn't been bricking systems based on using flashcarts.

3DS flashcarts are nonexistant, except for one that took advantage of an exploit that's been patched, and even then it could only play one game at a time.

Ah, ok. So I'm guessing a lot of the DS ones don't work with the 3DS. That's ok; I bought the Japanese version already so I'll just play the translation on my PC.

Depends on which one you have, really. Several are being maintained to work with the 3DS after firmware updates, like the DSTwo I mentioned earlier. That's how I'm playing this patch.

Is it just me or the text box seems smaller than usual? (Maybe the text box in the Japanese version is small?)
Also, are the ''Logic Chess - Begin" and "Logic Chess - Complete" custom made or it was in the Japanese version?

It is indeed smaller in the Jp version, as they only need two lines of kana and kanji to fill them in. It does sometimes feel a little crunched up with three lines of English.

Those are custom-made; the Japanese writes them in katakana and kanji.

Awesome job. Just one thing: How do you save? I saved in game and I saved state on Desmume, but whenever I've exited and reloaded my save is erased. I've had to replay the first half of the first case three times now and I don't really want to just leave the game running.

Also, to REALLY nitpick, Kay says something to the effect of "Everyone were..." in the fist case. Unless you were going for a Lucy Baker manner of speech (which really doesn't fit Kay) it should be "everyone WAS". Again, a real nitpick and otherwise a spot-on localization. Just maybe fix it for the final release.

I'll see if I can get a screenshot if you need a reference

Edit: Never mind just used "save as" and it worked

Thanks for the screens with the errors, yeap, that is the copy protection kicking in.
Well that surprised me but not everything is lost.
Try the dicastia patcher on the translation patched rom (make a backup):
http://www.dicastia.com/p/how-to-use-di ... tcher.html
If it's not working, write again and i will try something else.

The click and the volume sound have been already reported.

The text / text window, here an image:

Image

as you see (and i hope the font didn't change too much because as you can see it's a very old image), the text is not smaller than the other games, it's based on the PAL version of AAI (if my memory is not wrong) with little tweaks here and there. The problem is the text window that is smaller.
We hope we can make the text window bigger (+8pxl) for the final patch including a bit bigger interline(+1 or 2 pxl).

The animations are been edited by me and it's a big pain in the ass work because there is no tool to do exit animations. All done by hand in an hex editor byte by byte, frame by frame.
In Japanese there was 4 kanji meaning 4 squares of 64x64 pxl all in 1 line.
I had to expand those 4 squares to fit the graphics we need and it would look something like this in the editor:

Image

and something like this on screen:

Image

then slowly slowly spread them:

Image

Till you get the perfect position on screen and between the different squares:

Image

I am actually not really happy with those animations because they are actually not centered on the screen (you will probably only notice it if you make a screenshot and place them next to each others. So for the final patch i will correct that too.

By the way, did somebody try to start play case 3 in the patched game??
