Also took the 7th best-selling 3DS game position.

I'd say chances for a GS6 are definitely good. Now how about Capcom shares those US numbers?

When do you think the English sales numbers will arrive?

I also see Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney number 14 on best selling 3DS games. :apollo:

Good stuff. Come to me, GS6 :sal:

But yeah. Would very much like to see actual data for at least the US (maybe Europe too). It's all well and good telling us if they were "good" or "not as well as expected" or not, but data plz kthx. They've made a series out of it, so present your evidence, Capcom :udgey:

Hopefully, with PLvsAA finished, Shu Takumi might return to the helm for GS6. As much as I loved GS5, there was little focus on motive which I missed in the Ace Attorney series.

Not terribly surprised GS5 did well in Japan. They do love their GS there.

I can tell you that in the EU eshop, DD has knocked MH3 out of the top 20 of all time bestsellers, and holds that position :-) It also has stayed in the top 10 for All Reveiws and Recent Reviews since it's release, and stayed in the top 15 for recent bestsellers too :-)
Some actual numbers would be nice though :-)

Not to be pessimistic about it, but I'm not sure if we'll ever get sales numbers from the U.S. sales, based on previous statements regarding Downloadable games/versions. Hopefully it will be mentioned at some point.

I wish Sven was still around. He'd probably have already given us a hint of how it did.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

You're probably right. Unless Capcom goes out of its way to tell us how it sold, we aren't going to know.

Well...Monster Hunter is a huge download so people might have been more inclined to buy it physically.

Not expecting DD to have done so well in US, seeing as it was a download only. That might effect the overall sales rating.

I doubt there was ever any real danger of it not continuing in Japan, but it's foreign fate is pretty shaky. Given Capcom's attitude I can't see any way DD would be "successful" in their eyes elsewhere. If we had numbers at least we could TRY figure out what kind of impact the digital only availability had on sales vs the other releases. For the eshop, it may well have had stellar numbers, but stellar eshop sales would probably pale in comparison to so so retail numbers. Even the most successful eshop games did the bulk of their sales with their retail counterparts. Either way, if AA has a future outside Japan, it's probably a digital only one, in which case for me, is the same as not even bothering to release it.

Well... Yeah, that was the point. Of course Capcom had lower sales expectations than with a retail release or any kind of AAA release. Expectations on par with an above-average downloadable title.

...I hope so, at least. They would be huge idiots if they expected retail numbers on an eShop exclusive.

I'm fairly certain Sven said he had to pitch higher sales forecast than normal for the series to the higher-ups in order to convince them to localize it at all, actually.

If I remember correctly, he just said "pretty aggressive sales figures" or something like that, which might mean aggressive in the eshop world (which would probably mean DD succeeded) or aggressive in terms of AA sales (which means it's a lot more complicated and we probably won't know until we hear about GS6).

Either way I think we were set up to fail sales wise from the beginning, but I guess at the very least it got one last title brought over.

Always a fan of your positivity. Funny how it even goes against the facts: it did excellent in eShop standards because it's still high in the best-sellers sections, and has been since launch, and it's one of the few 3DS games that got Miiverse communities at launch, meaning there's a big enough userbase (there are quite a lot of posts in DD's Miiverse community, too.)

But let's not assume it failed and/or succeeded, even though it's looking like it's leaning towards the latter. Let's just hope Capcom says something sooner than later.

My comment was actually directed toward the fact Capcom seems to have set "aggressive" sales expectations for the game possibly expecting it to outsell the previous retail games, which I happen to think is laughable in it's face. I expect it probably is doing well enough for a digital game, likely in part to the fact that most people would have bought it retail if given the choice. They can't and it's actually a full retail game not the lighter usual eshop fair. It has some strong factors working for it from that standpoint.

Though that does remind me I need to update my 3DS and get in on that Miiverse action.

I hear it was the same problem with Square Enix lately, they would set ridiculously high sales expectations so that even their relatively successful games, like Tomb Raider and Hitman wouldn't make it and result in Boardroom Outrage.

Frankly it worries me if they set high-sales expectations for it...it seems almost like a way out. I can't help but think about Megaman Legends 3 and Capcom saying "Well I guess the fans didn't want it enough *shrug*"

In the US e-shop, it has a 5 star rating, with over 2200 reviews, over 2000 of which are five stars. For not quite being out two months, I would think this is pretty good.

I don't know if reviews are country specific, but I live in the UK, and the reviews are at 537, of which 495 are 5 star, 39 are 4 star and 3 are 3 star, no 1 or 2 star reviews! It is also on the all time bestseller list at number 19
