You just had to ruin it.

I didn't think the graphics were all that bad, the problems I had were the choppy animations and the fact that few characters blinked. If they can fix that and polish it a little it will look better.

I...I thought I was the only one! I never cared for the spin-offs, hell I hardly consider them canon.

On topic: will they just throw in random 3D effects? Seems like a waste, but I wouldn't mind character models like those in Dual Destinies, although I realize that'll never happen.

YES THIS IS GOOD

I got bored trying to play it on my iPad for some reason, I prefer the little screens of a DS I think.

Well, for me, it's not so much the spin-offs that bother me. It's what they've done with the spin-offs that have left me cringing once or twice (eat it, Quercus Alba and Meekins cameo).

If Takumi was in charge of the next GK, I'd be like, hell yeah, bring it over. But that's because I trust him with the storyline and characterization much more than the current GK team.

But if GK2 was localized, I'd still buy it for the sake of supporting the entire franchise.

IF they did that, sure, it'd be cool. I'd be extremely surprised if they did though. They had forever on the HD release and look how bad it turned out. This seems to be a quick turn around which doesn't offer much hope for improvements in animation or frames. I just have such low expectations for Capcom at this point, but if it turns out to be good, I certainly won't be above importing it with a Japanese 3DS since it has an English option and I have zero expectation of a retail release if it's brought over.

Ah damn, there goes our chance of getting a PROPER 3D remake... :larry:
However it's better than it not happening, any re-release is good. I can't see why it would not come out in English, it's not like any effort is required. Do you think they'll print physical (ENG) games of it?

Hopefully it'll be better than the iPad version because can't they improve on whatever materials already exist from that? (Yeah fine it's a different platform but some stuff has to be around to build on). At least characters should blink.

Do you think they'll make a special episode aka 1-5? (2-5)? It would probably have been mentioned by now but maybe not.

Ummmmmmm I just hope this isn't what we thought was GS6 being announced before.

If you haven't watched the trailer, I can confirm for you that 1-5 will be in it. I spotted scenes with Ema and Damon Gant.

I think icer was wondering whether they'd add another case to it ("a la 1-5" rather than aka)? Which, while I'm almost certain won't happen, makes more sense to me as a question. There's no reason 1-5 wouldn't be in it. It's a part of the game!

But why? The games were already re-released.

And I hope they do not have create 2-5 or anything like that. At the very least, change some of the damn JFA dialogue to reflect the fact that, if they do keep 1-5 and all, Edgeworth did not disappear after 1-4, but 1-5. Although 1-5 spits into Edgeworth's grand character change from JFA....

There may be an english option already for the game but would the english copy be localised?. We can't play the game if it's japanese references in the english version.

Watched the trailer, was surprised to see characters blinking. I mean, it's a good thing, but it speaks to the quality of Capcom's work that it's a surprise at all. Now let's hope that fade-outs aren't just replaced with janky jumps from image to image, and that the music is from the GS Sound Box and not the GBA version.

It's most likely the same thing that they did in the Japanese releases of the trilogy on the DS; a relatively rough draft of the English release's script, with more typos and such. Also, sometimes lines being changed for copyright reasons. (For instance, "MC Hummer" becoming "MC Screwdriver" in AA3.)

That said, they already have the most revised version of each script: the European English one. It's entirely possible they'll just use that instead of the oldest version of the English script.

Pretty sure that at least some of the characters where blinking in the iOS port. Far from all of them, but more than none.

There's something odd about how the characters' mouths move in the iOS version.

All told, it wasn't the best effort.

Yeah, that's probably the right word. I was wondering if they'll have a new case ('like' 1-5) because it's a re-release.
Or a DLC new case.
Of course they seem to be going the lazy route and just thinking the graphic upgrade is enough.

People are less likely to buy a prehistoric looking NDS game (let alone 3) these days. Let's face it, I have no real urge to try the GBA version...
I don't want them ret-conning the original GS2. It's bad enough 1-5 contradicted it.
The GK series seems to be about 1-5 ret-con Edgeworth anyway.
Although another GS1-3 era case is unnecessary, this is one of the few opportunities to get one.

Well, wouldn't an added case to JFA or even TT result in contradicting the original games, anyway?
Since you already think, like I do, that 1-5 contradicted the nice character change in Edgeworth, why want a new case?

It depends how it's written. A filler case can be written without contradicting anything in the original games. I don't think the world would end if a generic extra case had been taken somewhere in the GS2 or GS3 timeline, maybe after 2-4.
The point is not having key (contradictory) character developments or repercussions. Or stupid back-explanations that take away from the originals not add to them. For example 1-5 did a massive ret-con on Edgeworth's character like deciding retrospectively that oh no he didn't forge the evidence or even do anything wrong it was all Gant setting him up with forged evidence without him knowing, so it takes away from his character development in GS2 later on.
Then there's always one after 3-5... but addressing that issue gets avoided like the plague....
So yes, an extra case could open a new can of worms or reflect badly on the original games, but it doesn't HAVE to. DLC sounds like a better idea, since that's less like an 'official' part of the game.

Somebody on NeoGAF noticed the aspect ratio for the screenshots on the official site seem cropped compared to the DS version. This inspired me to make a comparison, which I'm posting here instead of GAF since I don't have an account there. :redd: Vertically it seems to line up with the GBA version, while horizontally it's more or less equivalent to the DS. At first I thought the "camera" was slightly centered to the left more than the DS version, but if you look at the background it's Phoenix himself that's been shifted left. It's odd, because if you compare the iOS HD screencap he was standing in the correct spot in that version.

Linked because this image is kinda big.

Wouldn't that be because the 3DS' screen is wider?

Well they could have put vertical bars on the sides of the screen instead, but yeah, it's a compromise for the 16:9 screen. And a decent one too, considering outside of Case 1-5 you weren't originally intended to see that extra space at the top and bottom of the screen anyways.
