Now here's a question I've been waiting to ask: Is anyone here excited about Super Paper Mario being released next month?

^ TAKE ONE STEP, AND THEN AGAIN, C'MON, LET'S GO DO THE MARIO!

Anyway, Back on topic, I'm hoping that the "fourth beloved playable character" is Luigi. I mean, who hasn't wanted to see him as a partner? or a main character? I know I have(but that's obvious). =D

Ah, the Mario series. If there's any series I've been playing since the beginning of my gaming path, it's this one.

Yes, Super Mario Galaxy does look amazing. From the physics to the nice visuals, it looks like it'll be a very good game. The bosses shown so far are interesting, too, though none have shown to be all too strong, but that's secondary to just how expansive the levels are.

Well he is on the cover, and usually Luigi is only featured on the cover for the game when he's a playable character. Of course, if he is playable, they need to make him stand out more from Mario, like giving him a control scheme llike he had in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Luigi's always had the wobbly legged jumping ability, so perhaps he'll stick with it?

Anyways. who saw the GDC thing that was showing Super Paper Mario? The "switching between dimensions" thing looks just plain amazing.

I didn't see it, but I saw the screenshots that TMK posted on their website.

I agree, the 2-D to 3-D feature looks great and I can't wait to try it when I get the game.

Also, one of them shows the title screen, which has Luigi! I'm hoping that he's on there because he's playable, and not just because he's in the game.

Wow. I've been so out of the Mario loop for so long that I haven't heard about this until now. This looks awesome and made of win and it makes me wish I had a Wii now.

Also: Luigi = Win. If he's playable, that's worth getting that game.

I was referring more to his main difference in jumping height/physics from Mario, which made playing as Luigi something of a different experience.

I've been excited for Super Paper Mario since I saw the short gameplay video from TGS (and the subsequent article in Nintendo Power), so the extended info from GDC made my day. Parts 1 and 2 of the tutorial from GameTrailers was uploaded on YouTube, as well as some of the Desert Level. Really fantastic stuff.

I liked SPM, but thought there were alot of areas it could have improved on. Mario is a classic and most of his games are the best ever, SMG should totally own when it comes out in November.

If you like playing with an unresponsive bullshit controller on a system that's a poor excuse for a laserdisk player... Yes.

Other than that, the trailer for Mario Galaxy looked kind of amusing. I just hope that game isn't too gimmicky...

SMG will be the SM64 that shows us everything the Wii can do, just like SM64 showed us what a 3D game and what the N64 could do.

I understand the concept, but I have to admit that I haven't had much fun with the Wii yet. It needs more titles that have some honest-to-God gaming and not just Wiimote gimmicks. So I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Wow, I can't even begin to say just how wrong that statement is.

And yet, I'm still laughing about it. :gant:

I have also loved the Super Mario Brothers games and I liked all of the one I have played (which is most of them) except for one of them. My favorites have to be Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario 64, Superstar Saga, and Super Paper Mario series. Super Mario Galaxy looks like it's going to be a great game too.

However, I did not like Super Mario Sunshine. The setting was great and everything but it didn't feel like Mario game playing it. And the gameplay was just bad most of the time in my opinion. :grossburg:

Amen. It really didn't work... My favorite Mario game in the main series is probably Super Mario 3 for the NES. :edgy: So much fun.

Well just within the next month we will see quite a few good games for the wii that are "honest-to-god" gaming (MP3:C, Boogie, Mario Strikers, etc.)

I love the Mario Series, although sometimes I feel like they stretch the series way too far, just to make some more money. Mario Soccer, Mario Baseball? Whats next, Mario goes grocery shopping???

Seriously though, I'd have to say outta all the Mario games, I love the side scrollers that were for the NES and SNES, Mario 64, the Superstar Saga series, Paper Mario series (haven't played Super Paper Mario yet), the New Super Mario Bros., and the Mario Kart series!

Mario Sunshine just didn't appeal to me. It looked too stupid. And I think they need to lay off on making so many Mario Parties and all this mess of sports games and whatever else Mario feels like doing in his spare time. We don't need an agenda on his personal life! >-< And Super Princess Peach? Eh... no thanks. Theres probably so many other Mario games I'm forgetting atm, but oh well. Its a good series overall, but nintendo needs to stop overdoing it.

I actually happened to enjoy Super Princess Peach a lot and I'm hoping for another Peach centered game like it. The storyline was a little lacking but the game plan was fun and well done. :welly:

Super Princess Peach (and New Super Mario Bros) both suffered from the same problems, a bit too easy and a bit too short. Remember SMB1-3, SMB LL, SMW 1-2? They were skull cracking hard but they did provide a fun challenge in some of the later levels, I think I died once my first playthough of NSMB. Don't get me wrong SPP and NSMB are great games, they just need to crank up the difficulty.

I'm anticipating Super Mario Galaxy SO MUCH. I'm not really much of a Mario fan, I've only got the games as christmas presents (along with a console :p) and I definitely enjoy them, but never to the point that I'd buy more Mario games with my own money.
But Galaxy is just wow. I think Nintendo is creating a masterpiece :3

The first 25 seconds of the intro cutscene (spoilers?) made me feel like I was on a night trip to Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen all over again. It made me teary-eyed, honestly.

Remind me to preorder this game so I can get this on the day of release -___-

OK I played Super Mario Galaxy. Prepare for a lot of screen shifts and playing upside down. I'm serious when I say the game can get you dizzy. The places are litterally 3D.

Graphics wise, it's very colorful and lots to see. Think of it as Super Mario 64 (2). Mario looks better in brawl though...

Gameplay: Stars are back instead of shines of course.
There's a new item that you collect, these multi-colored star things. Some NPCs ask you to feed them with these new items and open up new areas for you. You can use the remote to collect items on the screen. There's a blue star on the screen that you move around with the remote, so you don't have to go chase them down. Also, you can shoot the multi colored star items. So far we only used it for the NPCs.
Collect 50 of these star things and you earn a new life (Mario).
No Yoshi yet! Oh yeah, they brought back the [?] blocks with multiple coins inside. I don't remember if that was in Sunshine or not.
New enemies to jump on. They look like shy guys, but only one color.
You collect coins to refill your heath again.
You can shake the remote to do attacks.

Story: There's a new "Peach" and a black star with her. She's actually kinda hot for a mario character haha. She asks for your help in collecting stars, but I don't remember why. I didn't really pay attention too much what she was saying. Sorry>< Me and my friend are expecting a plot twist with them. Mario gets his own "spaceship" and travels to different planets. The way you do it reminded me a lot of Metroid.

Sound: Lots of SFXs come back from Super Mario 64. Remember the high score jingle? Also, so far the music seems to be all very fitting orchestra.

Last, but not least, watch out for black holes.

I hope someone finds this information interesting.
