If you are ever asking me if it is too much to ask to change the original script to meet the whims of you the ONLY FAN I'VE EVER SEEN ON THIS SITE OVER THE YEARS TO BE SO BOTHERED BY IT.

Then yes I'd say it's too much.

They might have looked it over, might have decided "Yeah it's a bit of a shame but we've wrote ourselves into a corner," might have said "The enjoyment of the cases is still there, I'm sure the fans will understand and forgive us this one bit considering the circumstances" and yes in the end they might have been lazy somewhere but for the vast majority. Yes they were right, a lot of fans did enjoy the cases and didn't mind the small stuff, they were understanding of the troubles of writing in something that shouldn't have existed and then making it canon. Bad decisions but still enjoyable cases. Except for you Cat. Forgive and forget because overall it's an enjoyable experience.

Consider this a vent on the overly critical nature of gamers these days and the sense of entitlement in the gaming community which can be utterly ridiculous at times.

Amen to that. People spend too much time focusing on the little plot holes. Sure, they might be a bit irritating, but it's just a freaking game, let it go. The experience is still enjoyable even with these little flaws. Every game has flaws, at least in my opinion. There's no such thing as a perfect game, you've gotta pay attention to the good aspects, unless the bad aspects outweigh the good, which they don't in this case.

I'm the one who'll gladly preach that no game is perfect, but really, in this case: 1-5, too much of the flaws in terms of fucking with what is established in JFA or even T&T just throws me all the time. Not to mention that the entire 1-5 case makes no freaking sense.

Every time you talk about Lightening Returns it sounds like you preaching how perfect it is or whatever game you enjoy.

Pffff, never once have I said LR is perfect and you won't hear me say it. It's a decent game, it works with what it got from XIII-2. It has flaws - the fact that the story quests are pretty short and can be finished within 6 or 7 Days of the game. The fact that NG+ doesn't add too much to the game, since no new sidequests are unlocked and, once you have done them, the rewards they net you are not that great anymore.

If you were on the Lightning Returns (PS3) board on GameFAQs, you would probably have come across some of my posts where I pointed out several times that I do not think LR is a great game. It's a good game, it's entertaining. But definitely flawed and nowhere near as enjoyable or great as I'd put XIII.

It's still better than XIII-2, though... which is not hard to do for me.

Spoiler:
Does Lightning turn to crystal and Serah come back to life? Check. Predicted right after Serah turned into crystal.
Does Snow remain exactly the same throughout the entire game? Check. Predicted right after Snow first appeared.
Does Lightning eventually soften up and trust Snow? Check. Predicted right after Lightning punched Snow for the first time.
Is Vanille hiding a big dark secret? Check. Predicted right after she appeared.
Does Hope go on a revenge quest, then eventually forgive Snow? Check. Predicted right after Hope's mother died.
Does Fang have hardly any character aside from wanting to protect Vanille? Check. Predicted right Fang mentioned Vanille.
Does the plot end with a Deus ex Machina? Check. Predicted from the start of the game.

You said you loved the combat system? What about it? How is it any different from the typical JRPG tradition of pressing X/A repeatedly?

While I'm at it, the very concept of l'Cie is ridiculously flawed. A Fal'Cie gives someone a "dream", and that someone has to either follow it and turn into crystal, or wait too long and be turned into a mindless monster. Well, in the main party's case, all they got was a dream showing Ragnarok. As far as we know, that could mean anything. The Fal'Cie might want them to kill Ragnarok, become Ragnarok, cook for Ragnarok, romance Ragnarok, use Ragnarok to freeze Cocoon in crystal, which we were never hinted at that Ragnarok was capable of doing that until the very end.

Out of everything in the game, the only thing somewhat interesting was Sazh.

And I'm still waiting for a response to this: Serah full well admitted to herself and Snow that she was "a l'Cie, enemy of Cocoon"; that's why she tried to break up with him. She had no reason to not take off the bandage, and Lightning's flashback within the flashback showed Snow holding Serah with her bandage off. So I find it difficult to believe that Serah "didn't quite want to believe it herself yet."

I don't care about Snow changing at all, the only thing I hate is that Hope didn't go through with Operation Nora. Would've been so cool, it would've saved me that fuck-stupid cameo in XIII-2 that served no purpose except a fucking cameo... I wouldn't have gotten the chance to fight Snow in LR, though. Meh.

I like the combat because I actually changed my setup and Debuffs and Buffs - which I rarely ever used in previous FF games, were actually important. Knowing how the roles worked and knowing how things changed during switching, allowed for some nice strategies to create for certain monsters, not just bosses.

I fully admit I haven't played XIII in a while and my main memory of the flashback revolving around Light's birthday and the reveal is simply the lines, "You tell me that you're a l'Cie and that you're also gonna marry this guy - guess which one I'm more pissed off about. Worst birthday ever. She becomes a l'Cie and you pop the question?"
And even with the brand shown. It looks basically like a tatoo. Given how Light thinks about Snow, she could very easily have thought it was a tatoo or simply drawn on to "make her believe it". It's a possiblity.

Wait a second, why the hell do I have to defend my opinion? Where the fuck do you think I am, the fucking Skyward Sword GameFAQs board!?

Man I learned to stop poking Cat's Hornet Nest that is FFXIII.

I've even talked it over with her and we both agree on some bad things but she still loves it in spite of em, loving something in spite of flaws is NOT something I regularly associate with Cat. It just seems 13 is her game.

Though Cat everyone should always be able to defend their opinion. You don't have to but it might look bad if you don't. If you put an opinion out there you are entitled to hold onto it but other people are equally entitled to question it.

Amen to that. I love Super Paper Mario, it's one of my favorite games of all time, yet it's also one of the most hated Mario games for some reason. I'll defend my opinion in a heartbeat, yet I respect other people's right to question my opinion. I've never played Final Fantasy XIII, so I can't say anything good or bad about it, just that it was on a bunch of lists of most disappointing games. Arguing your opinions is the only way anything ever gets done in the real world, so it should be something that's accepted, as long as you're not offensive about it.

It's a glowing tattoo. That's not something you can easily fake, considering how in the XIII verse, you need to be a l'Cie to use magic.

I don't demand of other people to defend their opinion. As long as they can give decent enough reasons why they like or not like something, I'm fine with it. But I hate it when I - or someone else - is repeatedly poked into their "hornet nest" of "Well what about this? And this? And this? And this?" like they want to change that person's opinion.
Bad enough that I get repeatedly called a liar for thinking that I like Fi and find her less annoying than Navi on the GameFAQs forum, I don't want to have to deal with that type of shit on this forum, too.

C-A

PS: Sumguy, Light didn't believe Sera because A) it's a stupid story to pull off because nothing about Pulse l'Cie has been on Cocoon for tons of years. B) even if she showed something, doesn't mean Light was gonna believe it instantly.

But some things are just contentious topics. XIII is a divisive game for the fandom, if you praise it all the time of course you are going to have folk come forth to question it.

Their reasons might not seem decent to you and that's fine you don't need to accept them but you can't universally put them down as bad reasons. They probably are trying to change your opinion but you are entitled to hold onto it or you can make a try to change their opinion.

For me it's more a case of when I see you praising FFXIII, I think of it as "Overselling" a bad game. So I feel compelled to put forward the opposite case, because if no one puts forward the bad points to oppose it then people might go away wanting to buy what I think is a bad game. I know if they do go ahead and buy it then that will encourage that company to continue with that game so it makes it more important to oppose an opinion I don't like so that people have both sides of an argument and can make a more informed opinion.

Well you never stated that you meant "truly free" so your argument is invalid

Ffs, why do you always do that? -___- It's really annoying. I don't care, nor does anyone else. It's obvious.

No direct hits, though. I refuse to embarrass the member I'm speaking of publicly. Although, I should.

So my mom calls and says she'll be home late, picking up some shelves. Discussing the option of supper, I casually mention that I thought she might be picking some fast food up on the way home, since she sometimes does that when she gets home late. And then she bitches at me for thinking that.
Well excuse me for thinking!

And I'm not supposed to get her started how I have "nothing else to do" (except the option to cook dinner) during the day? Well if you want to bitch at someone about that, complain to those fuckers at the hotels who reject all my applications!

Went out today to see my japanese maple and japanese black pine bonsai. Three letters: RIP. Died of cold since the snow that were supposed to protect them melt before the harsh temperatures hited on us. I feel guilty, not only because I grew attached to them, but I was told to protect them better, but I believed that our winter wouldn't be that harsh.
Please don't hit me...
