Desperately trying to think up a pokemon team I'd like to use now I've beat the main game. Hitmonchan is in it but no idea where I'd get one and apparently all my favourite choices suck competitively XP.

Which Gen are we talking about here? Besides, are you actually thinking about participating in competitive playing? If not, then you shouldn't give a crap about stupid tier lists. I don't know much about Pokemon; the last main series game I played was Pearl, so I don't know anything about Gens V and VI.

I tend to plan offensively; hit the opponent where it hurts and do so quickly. To that end, I favor fast Pokémon with a wide enough variety of moves that the team as a whole can exploit any type advantage--high Attack and/or Special Attack, depending on a Pokémon's moveset, is also a plus. I planned out a team of five that is intended to be able to deal with any type of opponent, but it's just something I have planned right now; I have yet to actually put the team together.

Get a friend safari with tyrogue or try the GTS for the Hitmonchan. Ironic, I think about the same thing! Except I changed my team around 10 time! XD

Well maybe not massively competitive playing but I'd like to be able to get a good team to battle my girlfriend and some other friends with. I mean she's more focused on her shiny hunting right now but she used to be a "Gym Leader" for some other site so I know she's got a solid team from other gens just waiting.

And any Gen really, I'm on Gen 6 now so I could trade for it.

Though I suppose I'll have to have a gander at the GTS for Tyrogue since it's unlikely I'll get a hitmonchan anywhere in this gen I'll bet.

Edit: Scratch that I had a look myself, the GTS is horribly unbalanced, people wanting like Level 90+ Legendary birds or Lugias for a Tyrogue.

Yeah I beat the game and I was like "what now D:" so I figured it's time to actually start work on a clever team rather than what's been given to me but ah if only I could just build a team of fighting pokemon, love those guys so much. Still I think Hitmonchan might still be valid, he learns a lot of elemental punches and is pretty fast and has that ability which powers up his 'punch' moves as is.

I totally feel he and Hitmonlee should have megaforms though.

I fully understand the pain in my neck and shoulders, those have been stiff for weeks. The arms hurt and the elbow cause I carried a heavy box full of old paper down the stairs yesterday. And the jaw pain is quite normal for me... but why does my cheekbone hurt? :sadshoe:

But normaly just put a normal pokémon and ask for a tyrogues. There's a high chance that someone will do the trade. Heck I dis it with a foreign zigzagoon.

Maybe you tense up your chin or jaw when you do physical labor? I do that when I lift heavy things or need to concentrate really hard.

Also I want to go see the (relatively) new LEGO movie, but it only plays at times in the theaters suited for children (afternoon) and there is no late showing. This way there is no possibility for all of my friends and I to go together, but going to this movie alone feels a bit... uncomfortable. This is what you get for growing up people.

That's not a bad idea, I was so baffled after my girlfriend told me you apparently can't trade legendaries on GTS but must be wrong on that front because it's all anyone wants.

Still it'd be cool to get a Safari with Tyrogue and I think my girlfriend is going to pass me one to breed for the right stuff. Still I guess for my Super training I'll just gun speed and attack (the elemental punches are attack based I hope) and just glass cannon this guy.

The celebrity system, although I read it's somewhat broken (which I can make more difficult to climb with mods), would work great for my Half Prince sims. Especially Prince himself, who is described as being THE most known person in Second Life and people constantly swooning around him and such.

Also, non-pussified vampires. Then again, as with mermaids from Island Paradise, it's likely that I'll get bored of them after a while.

The vampires in Late Night never sparkled. In Supernatural, you get that stupid Immortal Life or whatever reward which means they won't lose their vitality in the sun, so they can go out during the day... but sparkle if they do. I overall have nothing against Twilight-sparkles, but I don't want it in my game.

Part of it, I guess. It gets worse if you don't even feel like getting up and have no energy to do anything during the day.

Maybe you've simply hit a rough patch. After some time passes you'll probably able to sort things out. If you're depression has a definitive reason than you should firstly try to deal with that.

Guys... an "actual" depression has no real "reason" behind it. It's caused by a chemical inbalance in the brain. Those are generally not caused by environmental issues.

*sigh* I know Cat, step down from the high horse for a moment and consider this.

Perhaps we're trying to see whether it's clinical depression or not, besides while there is certainly a biological mechanism to depression there's other parts that contribute. 60% to 80% of the causes of depression can be attributed to psychological experiences (Barlow and Durand 2005), it's not purely a medical thing though genetic factors can contribute as well.

Even without that in general social conduct it's polite when someone is saying they are feeling really down to ask:

I know my depression usualy comes from the lack of something to do. I don't have many friends so its not like I can just call someone and ask they want to hang out; my entertainment comes from the YouTube, so when I don't have something to watch, I fall into a slump. It is sad too because the new South Park game has put me in a role-playing mood, and I don't have anyone to share it with. Hhhuuuuuuggggggggg.

Yeah I get that a bit, I live in a tiny village and most of my friends live around Glasgow so for like....90% of my free time is just me. It's times like this that work is actually a relief because it's some social interaction though if the folks on a shift or bad it just gets exasperating.

Of course, people who say they're feeling down feel like the kind that are just asking for attention from other people. If somebody is feeling down, they shouldn't bother someone else with it. I tried to get people to leave me alone when I'm feeling down, not telling anyone when I have one of my bad days, and still people came up to me so many times saying "What's wrong? Tell us, talking will make things better" - not realizing that there was nothing wrong and that, sometimes, people just have days or a period of bad days.
Maybe it's an eastern idea, but yeah, I think people shouldn't try to pry into somebody else's business.

Caring for a friend is not 'prying'. If builderkid doesn't want to talk about it thats fine, but I'd rather not run the risk of a depressed person feeling ignored and shunned after a cry for help than feeling annoyed by me asking what's bothering them.

In the former, the depression and isolation will probably get worse in the latter they'll just dislike me a little. It's a risk worth taking.

Both of you have a point. The key, in my opinion, is backing off when the person in question wants you to back off. I have nothing against people asking me what's wrong if I'm feeling lousy. The issue is when they won't leave me alone even if I say nothing's wrong.

I agree with you completely.

I think it's a very dangerous idea that people who talk about their problems, clinically depressed or otherwise, are doing it for attention. Some people just like to complain, and want constant validation without ever accepting any help, but I don't think that's the same thing. Everyone deals with their problems in different ways, of course, but the first step to healing is connection. There's no shame in reaching out.

Okay, time to answer some questions.

-Is there a reason behind it?

I dunno, if I knew, I wouldn't be down like this.

-What's wrong?

I wish I knew.

Quote:
Of course, people who say they're feeling down feel like the kind that are just asking for attention from other people. If somebody is feeling down, they shouldn't bother someone else with it.

Hey, wait...don't people kill themselves from not reaching out to people? Just a thought.

I dunno, guys. Maybe it's the crippling loneliness, maybe it's the overcoming sense of dread and despair that I'll probably be alone for quite a while. Maybe it's because I have that horrible thing that mothers everywhere hate, 'when somethings wrong, I don't tell anyone'.

Oh, this question hasn't been asked, but I figured I'll answer it anyway.

-...Have you contemplated killing yourself?

Well...no. If I'm down, I need to get through it. I went through this in June of last year, and I knew the reason to that, so I need to find the reason for this. Killing myself should be no solution for anything, because (oh boy, here it comes) I have so much to live for. I want to go to college, move out of the house, marry a cute girl, have a bunch of children, then live out the rest of my days in peace. I've seen how suicide can crush someone. My brother's best friend killed himself a couple years ago, he just hasn't really been the same since. Self harm isn't the answer either, I know that my sisters did that, and it put my mother through hell. So, that's gotta be one of the bigger reasons that killing myself would be a terrible idea; how would it affect those around me? I'd imagine it would be devastating, it would affect my mom the most, she just lost her mother in December, so piling that on top of her would break her.

So, I hope I can finally get to the bottom of this.

Yeah I get that a bit, I live in a tiny village and most of my friends live around Glasgow so for like....90% of my free time is just me. It's times like this that work is actually a relief because it's some social interaction though if the folks on a shift or bad it just gets exasperating.

Though what do you mean share the South Park game with? I'm sure it's popular enough you could make a wee topic here about it and folks would go in. I know Fool Bright is fully into that game. :kristoph:

No no, I meant that I want to share the experience of LARPing with friends, not South Park.

Ahhh I get ya, yeah it's a pretty niche hobby sadly but I have a few friends into it. Do you have any gear? The armour and costumes are always the coolest thing about it for me.

I like dressing up still, even at my age. I also have two of those high impact katanas made of cold-steel. As for costumes, I have a lot of junk that I use to dress up. All I need are friends, and a story to play. Or we could pull a strait up "Stick of Truth" and just split up to fight over a an item that allows the user to make up the rules.

Ugh no, I feel you. You don't need suicidal inclination to be depressed - the fact that you know you have a lot to live for and still can't bring yourself out of this funk is a pretty strong indicator. If it's not circumstantial (stress, a major change in your sleep schedule, things like that count), and it's been persisting for a while, I really, really suggest you talk to someone about it. I know it's frightening to be vulnerable, but the right therapist can be an invaluable resource.

It sounds like there's a lot of loss in your life, though. Do you think some of that might be affecting you more than you consciously realize? Have you had anyone to talk to about all of this, or do you feel like you need to shoulder that burden on your own? I don't mean to pry, and you obviously don't need to answer, but that could be something worth seeing a therapist about as well, if you can.
