That reminds me, I still have yet to actually finish Cowboy Bebop. I seem to have this problem where I start watching a series but never end up finishing them for some reason. I was about 5 episodes or so away from finishing, but it's been so long that I should probably just re-watch the series...

If you only watched 5 episodes then its just better to watch it from the beginning again since its been a long time for you.

I watched all but the last 5 or so episodes, but yeah I think I will start from the beginning anyways. Perhaps I can start that this weekend.

I suggest a pokemon that's been described as beautiful, like a Gardevoir or a Milotic and name it Morrigan.

I've never really watched South Park, mostly because it's not on any of my channels. Also, my mother has always forbade me from watching it. I don't understand why. She doesn't mind me watching Family Guy, American Dad, Robot Chicken, or any of those other adult oriented cartoons, so why is South Park any different?

Anyways, I wonder if any of the people who actually live in the real town of South Park, Colorado ever get jokes directed at them when they tell people their home town. I've seen a retired doctor named Donald Duck in a phonebook before. Apparently he was getting sick and tired of people calling and asking to speak to Mickey Mouse.

She probably never let you watch it because its way more violent and raunchy than any of those other shows. If I were someone living in Colorado I would be very proud that I'd be related in any way to Southpark. Omg I would have laughed so hard if I were to call that doctor and ask him that.

South Park has much cruder humor. I watched some of the episodes and they were fun, when I was a kid. Now that I'm older, that crude humor is kind of a turn-off for me now... I mean, nothing against sexual innuendo jokes and such, but... well, I dislike seeing/hearing them having sex, since it seems to serve no purpose. Also, some of the shit, and I mean literal shit, jokes are kind of... intense miss.

The only "more recent" episodes I've watched were a few months or even years ago. And I have to say, I liked the World of Warcraft one, minus the explosive diarrhea jokes, and the Facebook one. That was funny, mostly cause I don't have a facebook page.

And can someone please explain to me the point of drinking alcohol while watching soccer? Mom and her lover are watching, I think, the second rugby game today and have had 3 beers each up to now. And the fourht ones are chilling in the fridge.

...she's not being oversexualized. Majority of the outfits are not overly revealing, several of them are quite modest. And no player is forced to use the revealing outfits. Several of those revealing outfits aren't even that good in terms of using in-battle.

As for oversexualization, I overall don't mind it... as long as it has a purpose. The way it was done in Metro: Last Light was bad, because it came out of nowhere and even the tough soldier girl was later on just there for a boob to fall out and make me sleep with her. It was just there so that a guy can look at some titties~

I think the point of oversexualisation is that it DOESN'T serve a purpose.

Also this page of garb pictures doesn't really convince me she's not sexualised. Plenty of them still seem to reveal plenty of thigh, cleavage, legs, midriff to count as oversexualisation for me.

Oh God, I totally agree!

It really annoys me when women are oversexualized, it really detracts from the actual gameplay, it's just really distracting. It doesn't really bother me when the whole game is that, like Bayonetta, because I can just skip the whole game(which I won't, because it's supposed to be a good game).

I mean, look at games like Dragon's Crown or again, Lightning Returns. Have you seen her victory pose with "The Savior" costume equipped? The camera placement is a straight up-shot, and this really makes me not want to play the game, now. I realize that I was screaming up and down about wanting to play them, but I watched Nerdcubed's video of Lightning Returns, and he made some really legit comments.

Also, Catmuto, I realize you don't have to use them, and whether they're any good doesn't matter, it's just that an integral part of the game has been slutted up.

Now, I'm not trying to be a feminist here, but I'm just kinda irked that video game are being sucked into the same realm as movies, where it has to have big breasts and ass to make people buy it. Maybe if company's didn't make shitty games, they'd sell and they wouldn't need to rely on this bullshit way of advertising their games.

@Pierre:
Yeah, but even then, it's not just the clothing, it's the way the camera angles and stuff make it a lot worse than it seems on paper.

Mmhmm while Cat says it's not the case and I've yet to see proof it is I have a few friends words against her that when she jumps towards a pole or slides down something she does a poledancer spin around it. Though yeah it is a bit of a shame, Dragon's Crown I played at a friends and it was fun enough takes it to some whole other new extremes. I think I once heard someone describe it as "the true art definition of grotesque" as while the women are all breasts and thighs the intensity is exactly the same for the guys with them having more muscles than blood in their designs. I'd class Dragon's Crown in the same realm as Bayonetta for that reason since the whole game is like that. Not that I really think much of Bayonetta either but I ain't played it.

*gasp* Oh my God, what outrageousness! *gasp, stutter* A leg! Oh my God, the indecency! Next you'll tell me that she has shown her stockings in sideview! Oh my God, most unorthodox! Especially if you consider that her original XIII outfit - which was before she was "oversexualized" according to you and some other people - already showed her legs. And those were some damn nice legs.

Quote:
Have you seen her victory pose with "The Savior" costume equipped?

Yes, I have seen it. No, the victory pose is not that bad. And what kind of fucked up reason is that to not play a game? You do realize that after the intro, which takes about 15 Minutes - about 25 Minutes if you do the first Quest in Luxerion - you can buy other outfits that are less revealing. You act as if you are forced to use the revealing outfits! You aren't! Nothing even forces you to buy them. You can get the "Have 30 Garbs" Trophy very easily by just buying the non-revealing ones. The game itself does have 71 Garbs, after all.

And the camera is not that bad! I have not been forced into any pantyshots or got stuck on her cleavage during a cutscene or anything, as long as I keep my thumb off the camera-moving button. Why anyone would want a camera-moving button during cutscenes is beyond me - the only time I ever used that was in XIII-2 and found the paradox of Sera's black pants underneath her outfit that shows her hips are wearing nothing, so she should be going commando underneath. That's the real paradox of XIII-2!

Seriously, builder, give me a better reason why you don't want to play LR.
I mean, if you don't like the victory poses, fine, you can just press A/X to go to the battle result screen immediately, it freezes right at the moment of the end of the battle. No need to look at the victory pose.

Quote:

A poledancer swings around with the pole between her legs. Light doesn't do that.
If one of your friends says that, they're either lying or blind.

Sometimes it's easier to conclude there's no point talking with Cat about anything.

You can mock me all you like by saying it's not oversexualised but it's a matter of opinion, there's nothing really wrong with showing leg, except when it's all the leg with only a little cloth at the waist ala Mai Shiranui then yeah it becomes a problem.

Besides that's one thing, there's still plenty there to suggest they are sexualising Lightning in my eyes.

There are still enough modest outfits that don't have "crotch cloth" like Shiranui. Also, again, nobody forces you to use that. The only time you are forced to wear a certain outfit, outside of the first-playthrough intro, is one scene for the Yusnaan Mainquest and you have to wear the Midnight Mauve outfit. And that's still very modest.

Oh Cat, you couldn't be more wrong about this, because it's the other way around.

In the early days South Park was indeed crude and gained popularity with vulgar jokes and 'shock' elements (like how kenny was brutally killed every episode), but the show has definitely evolved for the good in recent years.

They make episodes about recent news and trends and mock everything about it while still making a valid statement about the subject. The episode with the medicinal marijuana is a good example of this. It doesn't get more ridiculous than men bouncing around on their ball which are the size of Skippy balls, but it still delivers a message about how screwed up the laws around are and how people take advantage of that. True, there are still a lot of profanities, poop and fart jokes and whatnot, but to say that South Park is cruder than for example Family Guy where people shit their pants purely for the sake of a random punchline seems wrong to me.

To me it seems that South Park has evolved with it's audience. In one way the episode have become even more daring (like Saddam having gay sex with the devil), but it also became more intelligent. A show like Family Guy has done the opposite in my opinion. The comedy itself hasn't improved since it still has the 'random' punchlines, but the characters themselves became a lot less interesting. Somehow the baby genius is now a flaming homosexual, Peter went from retarded providing husband to simply an intense retard and so on.
It's still enjoyable, but South Park is a way better show in my opinion than all other animated 'adult' series.

Also about the beer thing. You should know about the social construct about football in Europe. If you have guest over during a match you offer them a beer, it's not mandatory offcourse, but it's the same like how you make a connection with the movies and eating popcorn. It's something that kind of belongs together because of no specific reason (well, unless you count years of marketing)
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

It's still enjoyable, but South Park is a way better show in my opinion than all other animated 'adult' shows.

I agree with you 100%. I like how south park has consist funny jokes while including real live news and events that go on in the world. I love how they can be straight forward and be truthful about what's going on with the world. The jokes are still amazing and each episode never falls short like all the other adult shows out there.

A poledancer swings around with the pole between her legs. Light doesn't do that.
If one of your friends says that, they're either lying or blind.

PS: Scuttlebutt, I fail to see the problem...

Woah, woah, woah, when did I say I didn't want to play LR? It's really hard to make me hate a game or series because of some small issue, it's have to be really dumb.EA... I mean, I really like the FF series, sure they made some bullshit choices through the years, but I'll still play them.

Anyway, back to the subject;

You're saying that you can skip the victory pose. That's all fine and good, but that's not the point. Oh, and as a disclaimer, I've only seen about...30 minutes of this game. I think it was up that heaven-ish area with that kid...I dunno, I forgot his name. I watched an LP of it, so...

Oh:

Oh, maybe his friends are stupid and blind...or they exaggerated it to him, because we all know how much we, as people love to exaggerate.

Oh, God, I'm fighting on the internet...what am I doing with my nonexistent life...

You can mock me all you like by saying it's not oversexualised but it's a matter of opinion, there's nothing really wrong with showing leg, except when it's all the leg with only a little cloth at the waist ala Mai Shiranui then yeah it becomes a problem.

First of all, nice link.

That's all nice and dandy, considering it's a dress you'd probably wear to a ball or the like.

Builder, same thing. YES, the Amazon Warrior garb is one you get automatically (well, it's in the Ark on one of the Days, I guess you can ignore it, I never tried) but again. You're not forced to use it. I don't think I ever used one of the super revealing outfits in my five current playthroughs. I think the most revealing one I wore... was electronica. And even that isn't overly revealing. Heck, reason I used it was because it had a nice Thunder spell on it. And the design kind of made me think Vocaloid. (Unfortunately, the yellow parts aren't color-customizeable... would be fun)

Of course, the game doesn't force you to use that. Then again, most games don't force you to look at all the optional content in them. Point being, does the game encourage you to use that, or are there benefits to not using that? Seriously, does it?

To be honest? ...currently my PS2 is plugged in, so I can't instantly check my 360 or PS3 for the locked abilities on each garb, but I can say from memory... none of the revealing ones are all that great. I know people say that the Miqo'te one is great, but I don't think it is. Mediguard is too slow to really use as a means for healing and Magic Slash, while being both physical and magical damage in one, is not that great of an attack, the closer you get to the end of the game.

When it comes to what garb is actually pretty helpful, even the "ultimate garbs" aren't all that great. Ultima can be good, but the ATB cost is too large to really be helpful except maybe as a finishing move, and only if it takes a large chunk of HP off. And that generally won't happen until you have the Limit Break unlocked from a New Game +

Good garbs are actually things like Midnight Mauve. It's a good garb, especially useful for Debuffing and you get it along with a great Debuffing outfit and its locked Fira ability comes in handy for the next boss fight. Soldier of Peace is one of the better garbs to use, as it transforms Heavy Slash into Artemis' Arrow, which is an incredibly strong physical attack and very helpful. Also not too revealing. We have Ignition, which is pants and a vest-shirt, which is pretty good. I heard good things about Helter Skelter, which is based off of Amano's depiction of Lock from FF VI, although I haven't gotten it myself yet. Splendid Admiral, outfit based off of Amano's depiction of Faris from FF V, is a great garb for magical use.

That reminds me, I still have yet to actually finish Cowboy Bebop. I seem to have this problem where I start watching a series but never end up finishing them for some reason. I was about 5 episodes or so away from finishing, but it's been so long that I should probably just re-watch the series...

I identify with this on a spiritual level.
