Then again, nothing I see of that show is new, I don't see why people love it so much. The characters are the typical mature, kind girl (Katara), the 'loveable, goofy' comic relief guy (Sokka) and the weak, I-do-not-want-to-kill hero (Aang) and the SYMPATHETIC BACKSTORY ANTI-HERO (Zuko ... he's NOT a villain, people, he's an anti-hero)
The only thing I'll give this show is that the animation for some of the elment bending looks cool.

1. Toph has a very obviously female voice. Watch the show, and you'd know that. She's also an amazing character and, in my opinion, a great, non-standard role model for young girls. Stop being a jackass and using dehumanizing language ("thing"? Really?) to refer to a human character that some real, actual people could resemble.
2. All the characters have more depth than you're giving them credit for. (Why am I not surprised that you hate pacifist protagonists? Come on now. At least give me something new here.)
3. Nobody thinks Zuko is a villain. He's not even an antihero in the end. He's a straight-up hero with a solid redemption arc. Stop complaining when you don't even know what a prevalent opinion is or isn't.
4. It's a kid's show. It's a very optimistic kid's show with a lot of positive messages, inspiring characters, and a very moral protagonist. But it's still a kid's show. The messages and themes in it are probably new to the younger kids watching it. Stop judging it by the same standards as your grimdark yaoi anime.
5. Watch the damn show before you complain about it, at least.

Nah. Be her friend. If you develop into something more, it's meant to be. If you don't, she probably would have turned you down anyway, and you have a friend! Making friends with someone you like is never a bad idea, and it's childish to think that dating and friendship are mutually exclusive.
