Three and a half years, give or take a bit. That's how long it's been since Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was first revealed in a blaze of glory (and animated trailer). Since then there's been a second Ace Attorney Investigations game released, a fifth Ace Attorney game announced, developed, and released internationally, and three Layton games released internationally. Busy times for both series, but for those of us who can't speak Japanese (and who have a European 3DS), the wait is over. Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney launches today in Europe with the full power of the NoE publishing machine behind it, bringing us a Multi-6, physical release. (Sadly, American AA fans will have to wait for later this year.)

As always, the C-R forums are open for discussion of the game. We'd also like to take the opportunity to reach out to the community and ask for some help building a PLvsPW section for the site. We'd love to hear about localized names (not just English ones!) and their associated puns in this topic over here, and if anyone feels up to the challenge of writing chapter summaries for our Cases section, drop a post over here. Lastly, since the game is somewhat more open than a traditional AA game, we'd love to host any walkthroughs people make; reach out to us through e-mail (courtrecord@gmail.com - no, there's no 's') or post on the forums to let us know.

Finally, PLvsPW graphics will be added to the site slowly over the coming weeks. If you have a 3DS capture card and would like to help out, again - let us know by sending an e-mail or posting in this thread (which already has some graphics for early parts of the game.) And maybe more importantly - if you can record (ideally via line-in audio, not just a mic) voice clips for the characters (think "Objection!" shouts) in any language, that'd be fantastic!

So dust off your top hats and pick up your picarats, folks. A very special court is now in session.

Update: the game is now live on the European eShop!

I imagine that the guy who does all the normal Layton guides will be doing one for this game as well. But he has told me that he is busy with the US release of the last Layton game ATM.

Have fun, you Europeans. It's all Nintendo of America's fault for poorly coordinating their release schedule. It'll be months until we get this one. Oh well, I've got other 3DS games to keep me busy in the meantime. Still... :payne:

I see what you have done.

Thanks for the heads up! Sooner or later, these forums will be crowded once more, and I will be actively spoiling everyone engaging in speculative discussions. Given that I have to keep waiting for a US release, I apparently have nothing better to do, now that I'm on Spring Break.

I'm really glad this game is coming out, but at the same time kinda sad that the Ace Attorney train is slowing down since we won't see another game in a while.

One thing I thought was really weird was how little advertising it got.

It didn't get some epic launch trailer, and it was barely featured in Nintendo Direct. :ron:

Yeah, sorry, should have been more clear that today's release is just for Europe; Australia's official launch date is tomorrow.

Am I the only one who liked Sam's voice for Phoenix? I loved it, I felt it was perfect...maybe it's just me, I have also been a bit weird with these things :ron:

Ace Attorney wiki editor Strabo412 believed that Phoenix's VA here is Roger Craig Smith. (Now that I think about it, Phoenix's voice her does sound like a downgraded, refined version of Smith's Sonic voice.)

I started the discussion back on here and only one person got back to me:

Regarding Phoenix's voice if there is anyone who has beat the game yet can they say if his voice actor is listed in the credits and if so who the VA is? If it is not listed another question I have is does someone have a candidate for his voice actor other than Roger Craig Smith?

I haven't played the game, but I think I can draw the conclusion that someone has finished the game, and if the actor's name was in the credits, we would know by now. Also, Level-5 never reveals who their voice actors are in the credits. It mystifies me why they don't, but that's how they work.
I could be completely mistaken, but I think my logic has led me to this conclusion. :edgey:

It was discussed in the Who Is Voicing Who? thread that a Canadian actor by the name of Trevor White is the new Phoenix Wright.

However, this information was gotten from the Ace Attorney Wiki, so we don't know if it's true or not.

When I finished the German version there was a list of the (German) voice actors, but it wasn't clear who voiced whom. Should probably the same with the English credits.

I'm not sure, but I think the reason for voice actors in the series being uncredited is for the same reason that staff did the voices in the previous games; to save money. I remember reading something about having to pay voice actors as if they worked for an entire day, even if they only worked for an hour. Not listing them in the credits is apparently a workaround.

I'm not sure how accurate that is though, and it doesn't explain why we got voice credits in T&T...

That is a pretty awesome name; better than "Pursuit ~ Casting Magic" which is how it's usually translated before. Did it really say "Cornered", though? That's a bit disappointing. =/
"If witches worship demons, does that make Wright the devil's advocate?" - Just some caption on PLvsAA.

It's called cornered, but I think its called cornered spell breaker because it is essentially an updated remix of the original cornered, you can hear the original elements.

At the very least we can rule out Roger Craig Smith unless he was working under an alias.
